The end had the lady with her cell phone on video, then she holds it up like victory because she escaped their attempts to stop her. Hilarious!! BRAVO!
I've been wanting you to react to this!! Everyone knows the Mistake Waltz, but Ballet Magnifique is a hidden gem of funny ballets. It's rewatchable too, because there's so many little "mistakes" choreographed in there that I missed a couple on my first watch.
As soon as the orchestra starts the dancer with the red leg warmer shoots out from curtain right like she missed cue. It's as though putting on leg warmer was last second decision. I caught it on 2nd viewing, really subtle and clever! 😂
This one is my favorite. With neon leg warmers to pointe shoes flying and all the organized chaos. I wonder if Josephine went back and caught all the background things.
I feel like this is how ballet, and most "highly elite" arts are truly meant to be- not chaotic or goofy exactly, but accessible! This made ballet understandable, and interesting, and fun which is a lot more than I can say about most ballet clips I've seen. There's been performances I've seen in-person that are serious or dramatic and were just as entertaining, but the vast majority of ballet I've witnessed is just "stale" compared to this. Absolutely loved it, and you're exactly right- "what personalities", and that's what makes it compelling to watch!
I had tons of wardrobe malfunctions over the years, but I still have nightmares about my biggest wardrobe malfunction. Senior year of college, and I was taking a jazz class for an elective. In the middle of the final performance, my left boob popped right out of my leotard. Not even a little bit, I mean FULLY out. The only thing that saved me was that the costume had a little sweater/shrug that went on top of the leo.
This made my day! I’m so happy because I sadly had a crappy rehearsal today but this just raised my spirit! The power went out while we we’re just walking through it and we had 35 8 year olds in the wings!!! It was so bad that whatever happened knocked out the emergency generator!
I had to watch this twice because my sound wasn't working the first time, and I still missed so many of the jokes! you could watch this over and over and over...
I love ballet taking the Mickey out of ballet. That moment of comic relief makes everyone feel like we’re all human and it’s okay to not be perfect all the time…like being able to breathe for a moment….
And the way you know this was given as much love and work as any other dance is seen in the ending. They didn't just end up jumping up and down to end the dance. They did have their moment of chaos, you know it wasn't choreographed, but they account for that and have a a way back in to make the entire end sequence thematically appropriate
Actually, most of it was choreographed. However, as you mentioned, I did give them a couple of 8 counts to improvise any kind of outlandish dancing they wanted but spacing and timing were set.
It's so funny especially after an ad for a Dutch ballet movie coming out soon (Piece of my heart) about rivalry and all the things that can lead to the downfall of a dancer)
I've seen this before but it only gets better with repeated viewings. Moral of the story... don't take yourself too seriously, even if you're a prima ballerina!
Never seen a ballet before so watching this 5 minute commentary was quite entertaining for me. I am guessing based on your reaction and comments that this is not normally how they go down? Congratulations to whomever choreographed that one.
thank you for doing this, I really really thought you would love it or die laughing! Or both. And you really have to watch it several times and watch different dancers to catch everything that is going on
I love this so much!!! I’d be so great if the people in the audience had absolutely no idea what was going on! That’s one awesome show and the dancers and their personalities are amazing! Thanks for showing! 💗💗💗
Happy birthday Josephine!! But how did you not notice the girl to the left at 1:12 taking of her point shoe to only dance with one point shoe and later taking the other one of too😂
Not gonna lie, I noticed a dancer acting funny but didn’t look too closely and then just saw something flying as everyone stood up. But now that you pointed it out-SUPER obvious lol
I love watching this piece because every time I notice something different. It's so hilarious. My favourite is when one of the men can't lift one of the women so another one of the female dancers comes over and does it instead
You should see the Mad Hatter scene from the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ballet from the Royal Ballet. It and the Queen of Hearts Tart Adage are 2 of my faveorite dances.
This looks like it would be so much fun to watch or participate in! One of the earlier comments had it right, this makes ballet feel so much more approachable. I feel like a lot of stereotypes about ballet are centered around ballet being boring and ballerinas being very prim, proper, and stuck up (which aren’t true at all!) things like this show the public that ballet isn’t what people think it is, and ballerinas are just normal people
I watched the original video and they confirmed that the leg warmer was there because the girl was injured and made it a part of the dance-notice how she's limping and being slower at some parts.
Hello! I am the choreographer. Actually, the girl dancing with the leg warmer was not injured, I would not have allowed her to dance injured. The girl who threw her pointe shoe in the wing was recovering from an injury. She was cleared by her doctor to dance on flat but was not given the go ahead to dance on pointe. What you don't see is the girl who threw her pointe shoe into the wing actually had her ribbons coming untied from the beginning.
Happy Birthday Josephine! you should react to the Rybka twins having Brooklyn and Bailey try pointe for the first time! I was nervous the whole time watching it haha
I've watched it dozens of time before and eveytime time I notice new things. This time: since the beginning there's one girl that was always turning in the wrong direction xD
I love how Josephine was so distracted by the leg warmer that she missed the first choreography hints of what was coming 🤣
I did too the leg warmer was really distracting
@Jenna Gets Creative First of allllllllll....I love your name! 😁😁😁😁💙💙💙💙 Secondly, that leg warmer is sooooooo distracting. 😲😲 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the leg warmer was a deliberate clue to the audience that this was going to get silly. :D
@@Serai3 Indeed. If you like using emojis, it's "Windows button" + "(.)".
lol
The definition of... organized chaos.. I love it
Indeed.
My dance teacher calls organized chaos choreographed chaos
Kandee, couldn't have put it better!!!
Yes indeed
MY LIFE LOL
The end had the lady with her cell phone on video, then she holds it up like victory because she escaped their attempts to stop her. Hilarious!! BRAVO!
I cant stop laughing at the dancer running across the stage spinning her pointe shoes in the air. I am dying!!!
She be swingin' 'em like a flail while chasing the other dancer, lmaooooo
Lol that was funny
Time stamp please

my dance teacher actually choreographed this! she’s in it too- the one who threw the pointe shoe at the beginning- she’s incredibly talented!
Wow! I’m gonna look again
I choreographed it and I certainly did not dance in it! 😂
@@laurenwisdom1, Incredible! Thank you for your creative & hilarious choreography!!!!

BALLET DANCERS DANCING TO THE CAN CAN I CAN'T

Josephine "I need more of his in my life"
Me "yeah me too"
Totally made my day. 🤣🤣 organized chaos at its best 🤣🤣
I just love the Ballet Magnifique because it gets more chaotic on rewatches and you notice something new every time. 😂
Imagine Josephine being so distracted by a leg warmer that she didnt notice someone front and center just casually taking off one of their shoes xD
This is exactly how I envision every little kid dance recital ending up. 😂

That sounds horrible
Best Ballet I have ever seen!!!! No one can change my mind

Did you see the one with the black shorts under her costume?
I love your expressions as you’re like… something … is … up

Deeeeeelightful! I love the chaos but you can still see how talented these dancers...and the choreographer is!!

I would love to go see a performance just like that. The greatness of ballet and the comedy added into it would be great.
This video has always been one of my favorites! The complete and utter chaos is a thing of beauty 😂
One of my favorite bits is at 5:07, there is one dancer still plugging along until her fellow dancers take her out and drag her off. 😂
That's the short one that tried to upstage the prima getting knocked over by the prima
