  • Ibajay Ati-Ati Festival - Celebrated every fourth Sunday of January, is unique and has practically remained unchanged by the blitz of modernization. It has laden with sacred devotion to the Holy Child - Sr. Sto. Niño de Ibajay. Observance is Ati style, thus it is best to paint one’s body black with soot, dance to the beat of the drums while holding aloof a roasted pig or chicken. An exotic sight of artistic and indigenous floats decked with sumptuous local delicacies - assorted array of roasted pigs, chicken, prawns, crabs and the image of Sr. Sto. Niño de Ibajay seemingly blessing all these revelry.
Old folks have attested to the period 1571 as the year when the first Ati-Ati in Ibajay was started and revealed by yet another legacy - the distinctive “Sayaw” a literary epic written in the middle of the 19th century by Marianito D. Calizo depicting the bravery and victory when the Holy Child miraculously delivered all the Ibajaynons from the pillaging Moros. It has intrigued the interest of historians whether it is the oldest and most original Ati-Ati celebration in the province of Aklan.
