My dad used to say: A young man spends his time acquiring things, then when he gets old he spends his time getting rid of them. Nearing 60, I understand that now. I could have done this. I bought a new 78 Ford van and customized it, and stayed in it a lot. Got a job, quit, started a business, acquired all the stuff I heard I needed to be happy, got married, a couple of times, gave all my stuff away, to my ex, and went and did it again. I did everything big to prove myself. Didn't work. The more I got, the more I was searching. Did not satisfy me. If I was 18 again, I would find a girl that wanted to be free, and go, and never stop. God Bless!
Been missing you, came to see what you had up and went to the oldest video cuz your oldest ones are so cool in their own vintage way, and your mindset like all of us was different then. And just like everybody else, still hoping to hear some updates or something. Blessings and love
A lot of comments about the way they look and live. In the past I would be saying these things too. As I grow older I realize how society is like a bunch of robots programmed to get up, go to work at a job that most don't even like, to make monthly payments on a house for 30 YEARS!!! Let that sink in for a moment! So, you're 25, buy a house for $150,000 on a 30 year note. It becomes yours when YOU ARE 55!!! Then on top of that you paid, what, $300,000 for the house you thought you were paying $150,000 for (Don't know the exact math but you get the idea). Then on top of that you pay monthly payments for 48-60 months on a $25,0000 car that in the end will cost you $35,000 (again math) to take you back and forth to the job you hate so you can pay $300,000 for that $150,000 house. Yet on top of that many will make monthly payments for furniture, electronics, etc. paying double for those items also. And don't forget the 100s-1000s of $$$ in rent, a.k.a. property tax, you pay yearly to keep that house and all the maintenance and repairs that go along with it. For those who say people who live like this are crazy or stupid or not responsible, maybe it is you who is crazy and stupid for letting yourself become a slave. Before you say they aren't responsible. Where is there any responsibility in paying double for things you can't even afford in the first place?
Love the video.I'm living in a 1977 dodge sportsman 24ft with my 2 cats. Funny how you don't miss all the stuff you let go. I used to live in a 3 bedroom house. But now I feel a lot better w/o all the bills and headaches. And I got my own space. To the nasty guys posting- I am pretty sure you have some wicked smells. In fact, living freely makes you focus more on cleaning up.Well, that's how I feel anyway. I'll be subscribing and thanks for the interview. It was really cool
It's Cornelius Vango !!! Ha this was a few years back I guess , this is your best interview . In a few years this should be worth allot. Corn is a star rising
I lived in my RV for 2.5 years with 3 kittycats and they would be happy sitting looking out the windows or laying in the sun when we were in a quiet parking spot and they would jump straight back in at meal times. No problems at all.
So much hate in these comments. Y'all really need to grow up. These people may be different than you, but that's no excuse for you to pass judgement on them. You are not God nor is your snobby opinion that important.
Wow, this video made me feel like a spoiled RV snob at a Thousand Trails park! Very informative and a good alternative video to traditional RV lifestyles...!
Don't take anyone's nasty hateful comments.. why.. because people like me and my husband fought and served our country to make sure this freedom stays available to you and anyone else who chooses to find there own "American Dream." If we had spent our 20's like you guys maybe we would not be so screwed up from being in an endless war... go find your happiness!!!!!
This is good temporarily. I travel doing art shows all over northeast USA and drive a mini van myself. I don't do hotels in order to save $$$. so I stay in my van. Usually parking lots where I can get wifi connection. After doing a show, I go rent a storage facility to unload. Pay $22. For the month I'm staying in town. Wash up completely at a CVS restroom ( great for privacy) and stay until my next event. But I can only do it a month, maybe two at a time and go home after. I thank God I'm not homeless and have to do this all the time. Even with a conversion van or a RV, there's no way I could do it full time. Also must be very depressing after a while living in campgrounds or parking lots. Getting harassed by cops or the insecurity of someone breaking in a putting your life on the line. May God watches these good people and wish them well.
Did anyone count the number of times the interviewer said "hell yeah"? Such great and insightful contribution. Even better when he changed it up at 8:20 with "heck to the yeah".
If your happy living a different way than the mainstream then that is what is important. I prefer a different approach but sometimes it might be nice to have that freedom...I'm not sure if I could give up my appliances though specifically my washing machine. I love clean laundry.
What an inspiring video! I've been watching your videos for a while now and seeing how awesome this video is makes me want to head out to the Slabs to hug everyone living outside the "matrix". Your videos have been such an inspiration and when I have figured out how to break free from these chains I'm hopping in my van and going to start living free!! Keep on vannin'!!!!
This is possible in warmer climates of the usa, but I am in Canada where it's - 30 degrees in the dead of winter. Not am option if you don't want freeze to death.
That can is more organized then some houses I been in. I did one service call and it had 50 years worth of news papers from floor to ceiling everywhere! I told them I can't fix your electrical problem, because I can't to the fucking panel. Call me when you moved 20 tons of news papers! So this girl is a pro. Most girls after 7 years would have clothes in the closet just thrown on the floor. With the damn tags still on them!
That was a great interview Mike. It was so good I want to punch the laptop, then punch my McDonalds cup, then punch the McDonalds seat I'm sitting in....... That was a great obversation too about them being ahead of the game. I was thinking the same thing when they said how old they are.
Thanks for all you guys' videos. I am a visually impaired guy, and always looking for more information and video footage of the slabe to make my future move there easier. One love.
Hey dude, I would love some help on my website. I am an adventurer, not a website designer haha. Send me a message on my email, corneliusvango@gmail.com.
Wanderlust Estate That's awesome man! Looks like she already answered haha. I can only reply to comments when I get on my laptop. It sucks... Take care.
Cornelius Vango Ok, I will shoot you an email. I am hoping to be able to start a tutorial site where I can make some money on it. Thought I could help you out while doing it. I will shoot you an email. It looks to me like you are using WordPress and the Thesis theme. That theme is way to difficult to use for a beginner. It is more for someone that already knows CSS and PHP. I will be in the slabs begining of December. We can do some live tutorials together.
awesome, good luck finding a van that suits your needs! it doesnt have to be a minivan, there are also conversion vans and cargo vans out there that are very liveable. protein shakes and granola bars is pretty much what i lived off of before i got a camp stove. its a great diet but a camp stove costs 20 bucks and will allow you to boil water and heat up your soup in minutes! honestly i havent had a fridge in years so i'd probably just go with whatever consumes less energy, like the 5 day cooler. i cook all the time in my van! its so easy, i just use that little camp stove in which the burner rests on top of the propane can, its a great space saving solution for a minivan and you can get it from walmart. i sound like an advertisement LOL i blame my job for that. yeah its nice to stay in the van and snuggle under blankets during those rainy cold days. its funny that were saying all this under mike's video lol, i hope i can find him when i get to slab city!
imma alien I have been watching your videos lately and I envy how freaking chilled out you are. Great stuff! My boyfriend and I plan on van dwelling around the end of the year or beginning of next. Love all this stuff
Bought a cargo van building it out while I sale my house and everything else like my boat, truck, hot rod, jeep, ect. Also having lots of garage sales to get rid of the small stuff. I cant wait to tell my boss I quit and hit the road so looking forward to it at he first of the year 2018. No wife no kids just me the dog and the open road, just can't wait!! I know it wont be easy but what a adventure sure beats getting up going to work every day saying yes sir write away sir!!!
My brother's best friend drowned in the Mississippi. His name was Craig. He was 20 years old and as strong as an ox. It has massive, massive undertoes, if you fall in or try to swim in it. Please do not take an animal with you, if you love it. It is a killer.
Great video. Love the van. Think I'll end up living in a van at some point, I love the free nomadic lifestyle. I live on a boat now so I'm half way there! Love the cats too. Does the cat have different coloured eyes at 06:10 ?! Never seen that before!
These were the best times, back when van lifers were few on youtube. The wonder was so new and fresh. Will you ever do vanlife again in a van? God bless you bro. 😎 Dont forget about Jesus, the most important person in your life. 🙏

Hopeful young people..Kind and creative young lady willing to help those who need a place to sleep..

TELL ME. how'd IT SMELL IN THERE?

There's nothing wrong with getting an education, getting a good job, buying a house etc. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Love the video.I'm living in a 1977 dodge sportsman 24ft with my 2 cats. Funny how you don't miss all the stuff you let go.

I would be terrified of my cat running away, not being able to find her, and having to move on. My worst nightmare.
I know what you mean, I'd be devastated.
I lived in my RV for 2.5 years with 3 kittycats and they would be happy sitting looking out the windows or laying in the sun when we were in a quiet parking spot and they would jump straight back in at meal times. No problems at all.
shoes in the bed alert
That's the MAYOR of slab city!
Is that Cornelius?
Cornelius looks like she is living in the Mad Max universe now, she is a badass.
So much hate in these comments. Y'all really need to grow up. These people may be different than you, but that's no excuse for you to pass judgement on them. You are not God nor is your snobby opinion that important.
Expressing opinions doesn't mean any of us are passing judgment on them. They need help; lots of it.
So cool to see this again. ROCK ON
Wow, this video made me feel like a spoiled RV snob at a Thousand Trails park! Very informative and a good alternative video to traditional RV lifestyles...!
It's a great lifestyle for people who want just a little bit of challenge :)
Don't take anyone's nasty hateful comments.. why.. because people like me and my husband fought and served our country to make sure this freedom stays available to you and anyone else who chooses to find there own "American Dream." How can you afford car insurance registration and smog it kills me
Interviewer; “Nice!”, “Nice”!, “Nice!”, “Nice!” etc, etc....😂
I see a lot of negative comments. It's their life and it's their choice. Just because some people are spoiled and get money from mom and dad still, don't make it right to call them dirty. I myself am homeless and yes I work. But a soft hands spoiled asshole with no worry won't understand. If you don't have respect for them, go watch Kim K.

Exactly.
People are entitled to their opinions.
Everything looks so dingy and dirty here. This is the reason van dwellers are pinned as "gross"😣😞
That's true. I don't know what happens when one of them gets sick.
I am intrigued by your name, never met another Cornelius that was female. Usually Cornelia, but cool. Best wishes!
question: What vans do you think are best in gas and reliability? Also, how long has yours lasted/ how much did you pay/ type?
i've lived in some smalll places but never in a van
i think if you could really customize it, you could maybe make it work
Q1 Are these two lesbians
Q2 How can they live in such filth
But I wish them luck
Pete- i thought CJ was a guy? Oops!!
