Hi Nurse Reese, I also live in L.I and I’m currently looking into schools for Phsych NP. Willing to take the risk at Wilkes but concerned about the clinical aspect of it. You mentioned in a previous video about paying a preceptor. What did you pay for your preceptor?
BUT, I'm looking at the info online website, and I don't see how someone could get federal loans without taking 2 classes/semester. A clinical course with another class is a little much for ppl working FT because it requires 250hrs/semester for clinical, which is basically 3 days/week over 12 weeks. So, you would need to cut work back to 4 or even 3 days/week. Anyone have thoughts/experience and comment please?
@@Dr.ReeseNP true. And, could move work to the weekends and clinicals weekdays, but that doesn’t have any effect on how much time i have available to study/papers, etc. i have an 8 and 13 y-o who keep me rather busy. I think i have time to study for the program, but maybe not for 2-3 days/wk. for clinical on top of work, two kids, etc. in that respect, i don’t feel that this program is really geared toward ppl working FT with kids. But i wanted some first hand input, and thank you for that.

Hey Anika, if you are living in Long Island.. You will not be able to attend Wilkes. I paid $2000-2500 for preceptors.

The program is doable. One may or may not need to cut back on hours. It depends on their work schedule and the hours of their clinical rotations.

I agree.. While the program is supposed to be geared to working adults; it didn’t feel like it. And, no problem! Wishing you all the best.
The $300 fee to hold your seat is deducted from your tuition.
Hi Nurse Reese, how long is the program at Wilkes for?
It depends on which program and how many credits transfer over.
