My grandfather lived on his own until 98 and he raised rabbits for his garden. He ate raw vegan. Everyone made fun of him but they all died decades before he did.
Although I am not looking for a property, I found the series to be quite interesting. Made me think about my property and how I messed up a bit in choosing it - as location and dollar were prime driving factor. It had the acres but house was abandoned and yard site uncleared, no out buildings or fencing...it has taken me years to get to where it is only to have to start parts of it over and there is still way more to do. I sometimes think of the movie The Money Pit. But I like where I live too, which overrides everything else.
I went through a rural area near Stoke On Trent in Staffordshire, UK and it was scary - pit bulls chained outside shacks and the general vibe of a scrapyard. My #1 priority when I get offgrid is to stay clean and smart and not to let it degenerate into a rural slum.
Yeah how about that! I have rode my bike through some of England & still cant understand why the "travelers" leave so much trash everywhere. Seems like its designed to be intimidating
What's really Critical is getting your advice on what to do and not make a load of mistakes that what cost a lot of money, I'm on my 2nd lot of plans now, without doing the 1st plan I would have made a lot mistakes, now I'm on my 2nd plan and it's looking so much better, your info makes us think about all the things that need to be drawn out planed out, I'm in the UK and your info is amazing, please keep it coming, your saving me loads of money and loads of silly mistakes that I would have made, and I know what I'm doing, or so I thought. 🤔🙄😊
That's the truth about the rock's its a lot harder to build im with u.. Our mountain is big rocks but we are working hard making it our forever home way off the grid..... Keep it up brother....

Curtis thanks for the content you share with the world. Can i ask you a question, there is a lot of controversial info about "healthcare in Canada" on Internet these days, could you please give your opinion about how is working?
Do you think there's anything wrong with buying property that's surrounded by burnt out forest? It's not steep, so little hazard of landslide I think. Thanks in advance.
The nutrients are going back into the soil. And you have a natural firebreak. My friend’s place burned over but it grew back thick within 3 years. They planted more trees too.
Just curious? You looking in NorCal or by Yosemite? I could be wrong but I’ve heard Redwoods are a bit more fire resistant compared to other trees so something to keep in mind if you were looking up there. Good luck!
It all depends on the specifics. If you signed up for the early bird launch, you'll have a chance to submit a property for me to assess on the stream on Tuesday.
One key suggestion is to live close enough to a population centre that at least 1 of the household members can work to cover the basics and help fund the revenue raising property improvements.
Have you suffered a year without a summer due to the Hunga Tonga eruption last years massive marine volcanic eruption lifting 10% more moisture into the stratosphere last year
It's funny that a video all about aesthetics has the worst sounding audio haha. That clip-on mic sucks, just go back to what you were doing before. the camera or phone mics were better
I have really enjoyed this series Curtis. Im pretty sure my homestead days are gone as I will be 70 this year but hey it’s fun to dream.
Cheers
I am closer to 70 than I care and was seeing this series for the good entertainment that it is

Maybe you can find a good used rock crusher, then you could use that gravel for your driveway and have some 2-3" of drain rock for other projects.
Have really enjoyed this series and am already viewing land from a different perspective 😊 Thanks Curtis!

or what pit bulls were protecting
If it looks slummy, it might be a good disguise if that ever becomes a prudent need

At 6:10 that looks like an ICF wall you've started. Is it?
I didn't know you were doing an ICF home, that's awesome! I can't wait to start my own.
ThankQ and Crush on

Hey Oscar, can you be more specific about that question. How is healthcare in Canada controversial, or more so than any other country?
Just wondering if work well to you and your family, do you use the public one?
We never use it. We use private alternative services. Having said that, if I got in a car accident, I'dd go to the hospital if I had to.
Excellent series, Curtis. Thank you.

Do you still grow microgreens?
Yes.
What kind of sand is that at the footprint of your new home? Is that M-sand?
I think that's what it's called ya.
Rocks can be worth big $.
Have you suffered a year without a summer due to the Hunga Tonga eruption last years massive marine volcanic eruption lifting 10% more moisture into the stratosphere last year
Can't say we've suffered, or a full year for that matter, but we did just get snow again on April 18! That's very strange.
How can I find a decent travel trailer that doesnt cost a rich man's fortune?
