Dear Jackson State University Sonic Boom of the South: I am an aspiring band director. I am studying music education at Norfolk State University. I have marched at Norfolk and Virginia State University. All of my band directors have either taught at Jackson State or graduated from Jackson State. Dr. O'Neil Sandord, Paul I. Adams, Wllliam Bethea, Stephanie Sanders (NSU) Harold J. Haughton, James Holden (Virginia State University) and Dr. Magruder (Winston-Salem State). Jackson State has made a huge impact in the HBCU Band world. I am so happy to see that the Sonic Boom of the South has made to California this year. This show from top to bottom has rekindled my fire to stay on my path to becoming a band director. The performance gave me everything ive been looking for but was unable to find in over a decade. The intensity of sound, staying true to identity and tradition, the outstanding showmanship, with the crank block at the end of the show not only represents Jackson State, but embodies the values of all HBCU bands across the nation. Yall represented us well on this major platform before the world to see. The crazy part is I was a serious Southern University Human Jukebox fan. There was a point in time in which I couldn't stand Jackson State but I'm here to say the tables have turned. Ever since haymer got fired, Southern has never made a full recovery, in my humble opinion. One thing about it, the PWI bands better watch out and be on notice, because when a HBCU band (let alone Jackson State) is on the scene, we're gonna take over the show, hands down, no questions asked, anytime, any place, anywhere!! Jackson State University Sonic Boom of the South is the main event at Pasadena, California. Shout out to J State all the way from Virginia!
These kids are living their absolute best lives!!! You know what it is.........OUTFUCKINGSTANDING!!!!! Jackson State is the Kang!!! Don't change ANYTHING!!!! Keep recruiting the brightest and the best kids.... How can you top 23 and 24 maybe Macy's No matter......Keep Pushing!!! I salute you!!!
If we hold fast long enough - we goan see HIM work it out no Satchmo... Ella Fitzgerald... and now the Boom Fam - this is the official return of what it means to be a cultural ambassador Black culture has always been at the forefront of establishing good will amongst different communities and cultures. Thanks Boom/JSettes for accepting the responsibility of representing the culture and not straying off path - black culture - which is and has always been the heart of American culture You do us all proud Silkmane
What an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING show SBOTS!!! Gotta show Cali what we're all about! 😎 Every single person lookin' on point👌🏾...and that twist to Get Ready @ the end?!?! Chefs kiss🤌🏾 #SBOTS #TheeILuv #LuvDaBoom
My only knock on Jackson State Cali tour was they went to the west coast and played no west coast and /or no Mississippi artist songs. Especially when you got a banger like Sticky in the book or euphoria. When yall get invited next time please do that. And throw a Big Krit song in there for me lol
