We are not making the mistake of letting go of a player for free or unreasonably increasing the contract any more. I agree there are bigger priorities but sometimes we have to take the medicine regardless of how much it sucks. AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Sancho are not required in a rebuild. Arguably Fernandes and Rashford aren't either. They're just needed to carry some of the load while a new team is built.

So it's hardly an upgrade, especially considering Mazaroui was playing for successful, dominant clubs in lesser leagues. Also, AWB isn't injury prone like Mazaroui and is currently earning £40k less per week. This makes absolutely no sense.

AWB is a solid ultity player who offers a lot. The £10m we'd get for him won't buy us lunch & I don't think we're that tight on FFP anymore. Best thing is he's only on like £75kpw, you could give him a £100kpw 2/3 yr new deal & still sell him for £15m-£20m in few years given how many clubs are interested, especially in seria A. I'd keep & use him, very little downside

He plays people onside all the time, loses his man regularly because he ball watches, he has poor concentration, poor positioning, poor decision making, poor marking... need I go on? He has 1 year left on a contract/wage we don't want to renew. There is literally no reason to keep him.
I would seriously disagree with this assesment. Yes, we have to sell him because his contract is expiring but if that wasn't the case I would definitely keep him and find a 1st xi player in place of Dalot and keep Awb as an option.
