The noiselevel of the Taycan is just not acceptable. Sold mine and bought a EQE 43 AMG because of alot less noise and more space. Now the EQE is sold and I drive a Polestar 3. Very happy🙂
My '22 Taycan RWD w/big 305/21" tires on the rear was rather noisy at speed. I ditched mine for several reasons, disastrous depreciation being the biggest reason.
Interesting. Can I ask why you sold the EQE for the Polestar and the pros and cons? I test drive the Polestar yesterday and the Merc EQE 43AMG last week. Trying to decide
@@edwardharris1022 Had the EQE for a while, so it was time to change😛 EQE is not a bad car, but was never a super fan of the look. You can’t go wrong with either, but considering the price (at least in Norway) the Polestar is a clear winner, but both cars score high on alot of the same points I think.
@@andrejensen9002 Thanks - I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I can import a 1 year old EQE SUV 43 from Germany with a 5 year guarantee for about the same price as a 6 month old Polestar 3, and an 18 month old iX50 or Q8. Looks are subjective - I think I am one of the few people that like the look of the EQE! It's the brake pedal moving when you have high regen, and the fact I couldn't find an easy way to skip to the next track, that make me think it could drive me a bit crazy after a while. I was impressed with the Polestar - almost no road noise despite 22" wheels, comfortable suspension, great stereo....I was just a bit thrown by the blank buttons on the steering wheel and we had several software glitches on the test drive. But there is no perfect car!
@@edwardharris1022 I think the Q8 feels a little bit old now, but good car. Have had two E-Trons. The iX50 reminds me a little bit about the Q8/E-Tron, but the don`t like the looks and this car also feels a little bit old now. I had the EQE with hyperscreen and that worked fine, but had some trouble getting the angle of the steering wheel correct due to the angle of the hyperscreen. Probably the most annoying thing for me. Had to have the steering wheel higher than I wanted. Both Polestar and EQE will be good cars, a little bit different in design, but the drive good, good tech and silent cabin. And yes, the brake pedal move. Not a problem for me since I like to drive without the one pedal and coasting instead. The Polestar have some sw problems, but I beleive that will be fixed very soon. My car has almost been trouble free.
I just took delivery of a Polestar 3 LRDM Launch Edition in beautiful Midnight. Porsche’s are great cars, but waaaaaay overpriced. The P3 is a great value here in the US with $10,500 off MSRP…and it drives great!
Super interesting to see this video after spending a month going back and forwards between these cars myself. I concluded with the exact same idea - Buy the Taycan and have it for a year or two, then jump over to the Polestar 3 as soon as software bugs are sorted. Ended up with a used Taycan 4S CS with pretty much all the options at the same cost as a launch edition P3 here in Norway. Super happy, but I still miss the B&W stereo and the serentity of driving the Polestar 3 everyday. For those thinking about the new Macan in this mix up - Tried it but not anywhere close to these two in terms of driving characteristics and feel in my opinion. Felt like the nicest Audi I have driven, but had lost the Porsche feeling.
Thank you Kris for another great video, it's like you read my mind on coming up with this comparison - Keep up the good work!! I am leaning towards the P3 after watching this, mostly because of the stereo but to each his own!
Been watching your ps4/ps3 vids kris. made a decision to cancel my ps4 order and picked up a PS3 pilot/plus/performance/wool in thunder this past week. Dude, you weren't kidding about this car. Minus the missing features coming in software updates and other software bugs, which can all be fixed, the PS3 is an amazing car!!!
Thanks for this video. I'm not personally cross shopping these two models as I've got 3 kids, but given the level of depreciation it's really valid to have these 'new vs used' comparisons. I test drove the Polestar 3 here in Portugal yesterday where the fully leaded Performance is €115k new but already down to €76k with 10k kms. I can get a good spec iX50 with B&W or EQE 43 AMG for similar money, just 1 year older. Both those have list prices here of €130k+ with the options. That's what I'm cross shopping (plus the Q8 e-tron) as quiet cabin, comfortable ride, and great stereo are what I'm looking for.
Hi Kris, thx for addressing the middle seat backrest as soon as you got the chance. People from Polestar (since you watch Kris' videos, I assume you also read comments): make it softer, add more foam or whatever, fix could not be easier. Polestar 3 and 4 could be great choice for larger families, because both cars are wide and roomy, don't loose potential costomers that you badly need. It's hard even when doing few second test, imagine seating there for few hours. It's a seat after all, and the armrest is its second function. I don't agree it is like that i every car, it is much better in cars for half the price, even in smaller ones that no one would buy to drive 5 people in. I could even hear it on the video at 5:50 when knocked at it - it sounded like there's no foam at all, just hard plastic covered by skin. We want Polestar to be better and succeed.
There is something magic about how the Taycan feels when driving them. Having said that I am through with Porsch after having been treated like a "Sewer Rat" over a warranty issue.
@@Versus310 the headlights are fine, it’s due to the shutter speed on my camera and the frequency of the LEDs on the Taycan. You can see a different effect on the Polestar where they seem to flicker. But irl they are fully on and don’t flicker
Just so you know Polestar 4 costs slightly less and you will gain more power, Polestar 3 is only 4.5 seconds for 0-60 mph and Polestar 4 will be 3.7 seconds. Also with loaded options; the 3 will cost 10k USD more. Polestar 4 is not out yet so looking forward to seeing you do a review of it.
Polestar 4 har been out for months, and came to market before Polestar 3. I reviewed the PS4 LR DM Performance weeks ago and the LR SM back in early September :)
@@KrisRifa Sorry Kris, I am based in USA so I didn't know it came out already. I'll go find a review of it now. Thanks for the info. Between the PS3 and PS4 performance version, which one drives the closest to your Taycan?
the polestar 3 is not roomy! check the cargo space in the back. For the size of the vehicle this is ridiculously small. The price of this vehicle makes no sense at all as it is very overpriced. Technology is outdated: range is below par, especially when this battery is 100 Kwh
Buddy, range is higher significantly than the Taycan. No one is worried about the extra couple dollars spent to charge the P3 when most charging is done at home - people REALLY care about convenience, and range is a big determinant of that (the Taycan obviously narrows the gap with it’s charging). Furthermore, the P3 is clearly (as demonstrated in the video) larger inside, including cargo space, than the Taycan. The P3 is far from overpriced considering the price of the iX, Q8 E Tron etc. If you want a sports car, get the Taycan. If you want an SUV that handles like a sports car, get the P3. Simple.
