DIY Card and Photo Display Stand // Limited Tools, Easy Project

  • These easy-to-make card and photo holders look great, work well, and would make perfect gifts or products to sell at craft fairs or on Etsy.
The angled 10 degree cut supports even thinner paper that would fall over if the slot were straight. They use a small amount of wood, and can be built with limited tools.
These came about as I was prototyping an idea, and got fascinated with making this curved cut. I found several different ways to do it, and eventually tried making the cut with a jigsaw instead of my band saw to make the project accessible to more woodworkers who may not have a band saw.

An awesome and convenient alternative to frames, especially when setting on a mantle or dresser, etc. Bonus that it uses so little material. Thanks for sharing in such a professional format!

Doug, your detail work amazes me. Even the callouts in the video were well placed and gorgeous adding just the right touch.

Thanks Darin! Once I made the callout I was worried I’d try to label everything, haha. I’m glad you thought it wasn’t too much.

Thanks Jolien! When I started the project, figuring out the thin kerf angled cut seemed really tricky. By the time I was done the process seemed almost too simple to publish haha. Was fun to iterate on it!

Thanks for the encouraging words Drew! What I lack in humor in my videos I try to make up with shiny things, haha.

How did you manage to get the bosch blade to work in a Ryobi jigsaw? I've never got one to work properly, and there are tons of reviews with complaints about this.
As far as the project and the video, I thought this was a great little project. And any day you can work in a bible verse into your RUclips videos is a good day. I find it funny that this verse pops up right as we were teaching this to the youth in church last night. God is funny how he finds ways to speak to you during your day.

Oh wow - I am not sure why they work in my saw. I wasn’t aware folks were having problems. I do know I dropped the saw and broke the mount and had to order a replacement - maybe the replacement fit the blades better?
And that’s cool that you were just teaching about that verse last night! Have a great day and thanks for watching (and commenting!)
