OMG!!! As a beginner at watercolor, and self taught, you have really opened up my eyes to what can be done with just a few colors!!! As beginners, we see sets out there with 24 & 48 colors and we tend to think more is better! But really more is just confusing!! What an eye opener!!

Hi Dreamweaver, thank you so much for your comment! You made my day! You are exactly right- it’s way too confusing (and can be super expensive) with too many colors in your watercolor palette. Keep it simple and get to know your colors and experiment with how they can mix and create new colors. Have fun!

Very nice to hear how you anticipate with your colours on certain animals (giraffe...). The second palette will come in handy for some birds, even the iridescent colours maybe. Enjoy every bit of your holiday.
Oh, and an even brighter rose than Holbein is bright Bright Opera from Mission Gold (BV10, PR122 - same as Holbein). Dr. Oto Kano has an interesting comparison video on this (and other colours and pigments here on youtube.

Thank you so much KRCanetti! I agree, the second palette is going to be fun for extra colorful birds & flowers, etc.! I do follow Dr. Oto Kano as well, and has seen most, if not all of her color comparisons and other interesting videos for us "color nerds"! I do have the Opera in both Holbein and Mission Gold, as well as from Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton. I have a swatchbook of all my colors which I got inspired to do after watching Denise from In Liquid Color. I did this last year when I was house-bound for several months due to severe hives caused by an allergic reaction to fragrances. It's super helpful, and I referenced it when I picked my colors for my pocket palettes. I just love this wonderful RUclips community of artists sharing their knowledge with us all!

Fun video 😄 Ive never tried Quin Coral--I'll have to look for it. Indanthrone and cobalt teal will mix almost every other color of blue. Have fun on safari!
