Parks Canada | BC AdventureSmart Winter Series 2023-24

Parks Canada shared their winter activities, winter safety precautions, and offered subject matter expert advice directly from two of the Mount Revelstoke & Glacier National Park representatives; Public Outreach Education Officer, Laura Bernier and Visitor Safety Specialist Jonas Hoke.
Founded in 1886, Parks Canada 'Glacier National Park' is a year round mountain park paradise. It's a hiker's dream in summer and a ski touring mecca in the winter, with snow-capped peaks as far as the eye can see all year long.
Based on BC search and rescue data driven insights, the East Kootenays sees the majority of search and rescue incidents in BC each winter, affecting the regional SAR groups such as Revelstoke SAR and Golden District SAR.Also based on SAR data, backcountry skiers are amongst the top group of enthusiasts requiring SAR assistance.
