I was lucky and honored to be at this match sitting about 17 rows up, and the thing that stood out more then anything was Iniesta’s calm and grace. Was as though he played the game at his own pace and did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. I got chills when the Bernabeu gave him a standing ovation - the funny thing w this match was Messi wasn’t even fit if you recall, I think Barca was up 3-0 when Jose Enrique subbed him in , to add insult to injury . One one of the most unforgettable night of my life and one I will tell my grandkids about someday.
He has soo much control on the game it's absolutely crazy! What a player he is! Unbelievably good! It amazes me on how he does it with the best players in the world on the same pitch

People keep fighting over Messi and Ronaldo.. I know goals change matches and Iniesta is found wanting there, but the way he controls big matches.. brings a smile on my face (just like Zizou used to, 10 years ago)..
When Iniesta plays, Ronaldo in the opposition does not get to see the ball and Messi is not missed.. Can these two do the same? Just shows, football is more than goals..

Wow. What a treat of a player. I miss watching him caress the ball.
It's amazing that he manages to play centre mid so well while barely using his left foot. It's usually thought that to be a top centre mid you have to be good with both feet but iniesta manages to basically just use his right. He only gave the ball away twice in the video and both times were when he passed with his left foot haha. His only successful left foot pass was an easy 5 yard one. This inspires me as my left foot is pretty bad but he shows that you can play at the top level in centre mid while only really using one foot.

Definitely a more complete player since Xavi was deteriorating and left. With his deeper role he sets up the game and controls it. He used to just get the ball from deep, string 1-2s and then drive into the box and flick it to someone to volley it in, now his reading of the game is even better with age. Of course his athleticism isn't there anymore but the vision and ability is ever growing. One of my favourite midfielders.
I read some comments comparing ozil to iniesta, please respect for the maestro. Ozil can assist very well vs small teams in the BPL, when Iniesta scores he does it in the World Cup Final, in the clasico, or in the champions league semifinal vs chelsea....

The midfield is still amazing as ever because of Iniesta. Rakitic may have filled in for Xavi's place but if Iniesta leaves I don't know if the midfield will ever be as good again :(

Xavi and Iniesta were way too good, they blocked the starting position for years not only at Barcelona but also in the national team. Thiago is very good of course but it was just too difficult for any midfielder to compete with Xavi and Iniesta for a starting position. He wanted to leave, specially when he saw Guardiola knocking. Too bad his knee injuries kept coming, i really like him. Hopefully Halilovic will step up for Barcelona next season though, i have high hopes for him.

Only similar player I can think of that can even be compared to Iniesta is Zidane. And even then, I can't think of anything that Zidane did, that Iniesta doesn't do at least as well. Maybe he's less of an on-pitch leader and has slightly worse finishing...but I'm starting to rate Iniesta even higher then Zidane because of his sheer consistency. He never plays a bad game.
Don't tell me about "magic" or "big game performances", Iniesta has all of that as well. Unbelievable player. If it wasn't for Messi and Cristiano, he would have plenty of Ballon d'Ors.

nope. Zidane is great in Juventus, Real and France in WC. Zidane dribbling skills are higher and his finishing is pretty consistent and playmaking is just as good as Iniesta. Both of them are certainly on par. IMO, Zidane is still better than Iniesta given his track records and contribution both in clubs and country
