First time I visited was with friends who had a couple condos on St Pete beach. July and way too hot. Long two weeks in a sauna. Went again years later in March when it wasn't so hot to Disney with the kids. Last time a few years ago did a quick scouting drive across the panhandle gulf coast line in the Fall. Enough Florida for me for a lifetime. Not a place I would live full time.

@@trucrimefan0401 Then you have some plausible reason why my homeowner's insurance has doubled in 5 years in a place that doesn't have hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires or riots? Because I called my insurance agent a few weeks ago with that exact question and he explained that is exactly why my rates are increasing.
Insurance should be unaffordable in high-risk areas. Essentially they should put up a bond equal to the value of whatever they are trying to "insure".
