"I'll Be Satisfied" really has to be one of the greatest missed opportunities to show off all 3 of the Tempts main lead singers. Especially keeping in mind this was well before Norman Whitfield started doing it with songs like "Cloud Nine" and such.

Hey Jeremy, I'm glad you're enjoying hearing these. "My Girl" is always gonna be a classic but The Temptations recorded so much stuff, some of it's bound to have been overlooked!

The Temptations. 'Nuff said....in spite of lineup changes through the years, if you could write it, they could sing it. Thanks for the upload, tomovox. Temptations 4Ever. Blessings

First time hearing we'll be satisfied and I'm just like wtf??? All 3 with my main man(Mr. Paul Williams❤)leading??? Wow, Motown made hit after hit.. all these gems that didn't get the air play like they should've!
With "We'll Be Satisfied", the crime was that this had NEVER been released on any album or record until a few years ago! That a song THIS good was never heard by the general public truly is a WTF moment. The subject of Motown having an insane amount of buried treasures came up in a discussion recently; being that Motown literally recorded 24 hours a day, nearly every day of the year back then, it becomes clear they just had more good music than they could possibly put out.
I'm glad you got to discover something new from the Tempts! I think "We'll Be Satisfied" was recorded during the time the album "With A Lot Of Soul" was being put together, but there were just too many good songs for them all to fit.

tomovox I must have listened to this at least a dozen times already. The beginning guitar riff, followed by the funky bass line, then the horned. Paul, Eddie and David.....DAMN! this is goosebumps music!
Darrin Nicholson YES! That intro- I love how you describe it. It's such a brilliant intro too. It snaked up and down, back and forth, building this great anticipation! What's really remarkable is that it sounds like nothing else from that time. About a thousand steps ahead of its time.
As much as I love Earth Wind And Fire, there is no group in recording history quite like the Temptin Temptations! They are the greatest R&B group of all time and it's not even close because all 5 singers (David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin, Otis) can actually sing lead and watching them live back in the 1960's was a earth shattering experience! I'll be Satisfied is a forerunner of Cloud Nine and Fading Away is one of Eddie's best tunes and Sorry is a sorry word displays David's sandpaper style of singing! Hands down, they are the best!
Thisshould have been a single! They were the music industry bestt. Sorry Aretha, Micheal , Beatles,etc.etc. but add all their cuts the different eras. Hands down these guys were the best!
I love most of the singers voices in the Temptations through the years, but Paul's had a certain magic that makes his my favorite. One more thing I must say is it's not a competition. It's music!
I like that- "it's not a competition it's music." You're right. The Temptations were big enough and good enough to house more than one great singer. Paul had a very distinctive way of singing. He'd really hit certain consonants, like: tearstaineD leTTerRRRR. He was also a really passionate singer full of emotion.
This off the Temps with a lot of soul. Great album another tune on this that David sings led is Now that you won me , also Nick Ashford and Valarie Simpson wrote quite a few songs on this album. This the fifth album of fab five which had 3 number one hits. All I need, You that I need and Your my everything . The greatest Soul group in the 20 th Century hands down.
I agree, but it'll never happen. The reason why I say that is because I once called an Oldies station and asked by my request was never played. I mentioned the song had done well on the charts back in the day. This DJ did something nobody else ever did- he put me on hold and when he had a few minutes, he explained how radio works- in a nutshell, they do testing on a batch of songs, see which ones get the best, most immediate response and those are the ones that go onto the playlist, and only those. I'm paraphrasing, but it's why you'll only hear the same two or three songs by any artist over and over. Instead of chancing listeners tuning out during an unfamiliar song, the radio stations would rather ensure listeners stay tuned by playing a steady stream on Very Well-Loved hits. And the problem is that most radio listeners are just fine with it.
Awww -- just LOVED Fading Away, I'd be stuck by that old Zenith stereo lying on the floor listening to it. Was at the age as a younger teen when I romanticized about boys. And Eddie ---WOW-- singing that lead would put me in that mood with the hormones raging. And I'm so glad "Tomovox" included Sorry is a Sorry Word in this masterpiece with the great Ruffin and Kendricks singing lead in this masterpiece which also defines some great harmonizing-.seem to remember having that album too . didn't
It's an amazing testament that the pressure was very high to create hits. When you have so much good stuff being done 24 hours a day that you can afford to leave something like THIS behind, that is truly mind-blowing.
Little Miss Sweetness and Lonely,Lonely man Man Am I were the cuts also Say You theese guys were the best. Ruffin must have been on drugs to leave. He needed them as much as they needed him. His leaving was the most puzzing thing in music history.Almost as puzzling as Paul getting shot on the left side of the face and he was right handed!
Oh, you've brought a big smile to my face! Reading about you sitting by the old Zenith stereo, well, that's just how it was with me too! I'd sit for so long next to the stereo trying to hear everything that I'm surprised I can still hear! I'm so happy you like the songs too including Sorry is a Sorry Word- I always thought that was an incredible song. Get the album if you can, it's a great one!
I keep trying to figure out why it is that even though there are good songs that I still hear from time to time, why I never get the same feeling from them as I get from the old favorites. You have given me the perfect explanation- "the music with which we grow up will forever stay in our minds, in our psyche because it helped define us." That says it ALL!
So glad you like! The first song, to me it's amazing nobody saw the potential in it. You've got all three lead singers on one song. That wasn't happening until later on in the group's career. I guess there was just too much good material to get everything out to the public at the time. The others are album cuts- which says a lot about how good these guys and the writers, musicians were. Album cuts that sounded like hits!
Funny! And just when you were talking about your "thefts." Lol, your brother knew who pilfered his tape and knew your favorite song. I agree -- the music with which we grow up will forever stay in our minds, in our psyche because it helped define us.
The flip side of Get Ready was a cut I listened to quite a bit. I can understand why it didn't chart competing with Get Ready. I was a big fan of Ivy Joe and when you put Paul's, Eddies and Davids 'voices with the Lyrics anything they did was a hit with me. Thanks for posting some of the lesser plaid tunes. It doesn't matter what song they sang their voices are unmistakable. I miss them terribly.Dr. Doo Wop
+Victor Scena Hi Dr. Doo Wop! Man, you said it 100% right about tune with Paul, Eddie and David splitting the lead. For the life of me, I don't know why this didn't make it onto an album. Noman Whitfield gets credit for being the first to feature all the singers in lead roles, but "I'll Be Satisfied" deserves a bright spotlight for rockin' out with a 3-way lead.
Fading Away was never released as a single that's why it didn't chart. But motown wanted you to buy the album, they already had Get Ready and Aint Too Proud To Beg as the 2 hits, they didn't need to release anymore songs. They probably could've released Say You as a single also
Thank God these songs can continue to have life with the new technology. Sorry is a sorry word was one May classic that David sung.. Motown was hot back then look like every week there was hit record. Some of the best time ever.. LB January 2, 2023 Monday.
Motown is still mind-blowing to me. It was a little independent label that was outpacing and outshining a lot of the major big-bucks record companies. Like you said, it really was a new hit just about every week. I always think how amazing that the very technology I'd always complain about (old man syndrome!) is the VERY thing that is introducing literally entire worlds of new - and younger - fans to this music. I used to feel really isolated in my love for this music because I was collecting this stuff in the 80s and all my friends, of course, were into the current music of those times. NOW, look at how all of us can come here and talk about this music like teenage fans and you can get it everywhere, like streaming platforms and such.
Great post; love to hear all three leads on one song on We'll Be Satisfied! Fading Away is classic Smokey (Bobby and Pete) lyrics and Eddie singing; a great 45 on both sides! I also like Bobby Taylor's work on this tune, too. As for Sorry Is A Sorry Word, Ivy Joe at his best with that stellar intro! Doubtless you know this tune was "staged" for a CBS special back in '67 and showcased the Tempts and Funks in the Snakepit including Jamerson and "The Hook" in the background.
Hi Candy- I'm glad you enjoyed this! I still get chills hearing "We'll Be Satisfied." I just wanted to give people a chance to hear it. Thanks for listening (and watching!)
David's vocal tone, inflection, range and singing voice were all very similar to that of Sam Cooke. Listen closely to the two. There was the same gritty yet soft, smooth texture to it, depending upon how he interpreted a given song. Usually a sweet soulful crooning, more than the hard driving punch Dennis brought to the group. However, Dennis' lead ushered in the era of Psychedelic Soul, and kept The Tempts on top, as music and the world were changing in the late 60s. Two very different voices, for two very different times in the legacy of the greatest male vocal group ever recorded... The Classic Five!
note: lately, I'm finding hidden comments that are marked as "spam." It's very odd because a lot of them are comments I never marked as such. This is one of those comments I just found tonight, so I re-posted it. Thank you magnipotentmartha1 for this comment!
UnloadOnTheseNiggehs You can find a lot of these pictures from the booklets and covers of cds. These days, you can find a boatload of cds on ebay or amazon without spending a lot of money. In fact, look for those "greatest hits" kind of collections. You'll usually find a good pic or two. I also get a lot of my pics from the books I've bought over the years on Motown- again, you can find those on ebay- often for not a lot of money. Album covers found at 2nd hand shops are good. You can get some really good pics on ebay- just search for something like "The Temptations photographs" and you'll find some. Some are very expensive, but you should be able to find quite a few that are affordable.
I have so many Temps songs. I believe I have at least songs two, and three. If song one is on the "Lost and Found" CD, then I have it. If not, where did you find it? Love the excellent slideshow, by the way.
+renaissanceman165 "We'll Be Satisfied" (or as sung, "I'LL Be Satisfied) is on the "Lost And Found" CD. There are so many good songs on that, I had to go back and read the track list to make sure! And thank you for the kind words on the slideshow! As I've done more of these, I've learned to slow down the pace a bit with the picture changes! lol
There is a site called "Don't Forget The Motor City" that has writer, producer, recording information on every Motown recording you can think of. Here's all the details for "Fading Away": Fading Away (William Robinson-Robert Rogers-Warren Moore) published Jobete 01-Oct-65 The Temptations; recorded Hitsville, completed 11-Aug-65 ; produced by Smokey Robinson ; [lead Eddie Kendricks] www.dftmc.info/
Blue Thunder Thank you Blue! I've got another Temptations thing going with some nice surprise "guest" appearances that you might like too- I didn't do as elaborate a slide show on that, but I think I've got some good pics all the same! Thanks again!
Lol, I'm glad I made you smile. You made me smile too with your excellent job with the slideshow. Me too, with those old boxes that had good sound (but I couldn't turn it up too loud if my parents were home, different story if they weren't, lol). Thanks for the great upload, I'm keeping it in my favorites. Since all of my Temps albums mysteriously disappeared, I'll have to begin a new collection of my much-loved group.
Quite often, there's a reason why some tracks, remained in "the can" and were not released. They just didn't live up to the Motown standard. This is one of them.
I'll tell you a funny story about my Temptations album collection: I actually hoisted a few of mine from my uncles' collections! I was a kid and my uncles had moved away from home by the time I was into my Motown obsession. Whenever I went to visit my grandparents, one by one, I'd "borrow" various albums until I got old enough to start buying my own! I finally confessed to one of my uncles just last month!! Thank goodness he has a good sense of humor!
The Classic Five. Ruff', E.K., Paul, Blue, and Otis. What you accomplished together was not, nor ever will be duplicated. No matter how long the brand lasts with Otis and his cover groups, the true legacy of THE Temptations begins and ends with these five talented and gifted artists. 🎤👓🎩👞 🎤🎩👞🎤🎩👞🎤🎩👞🎤🎩👞
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you have a heart love is real can't buy true love they soooooooooo blessed to hear old but new to us thank you You Tube. Linda j peace 💯💯💯🦋🦋🦋❤️❤️☮️☮️
The successful formula turned out to be the famed Eddie to David 1-2 vocal lead trades. While impossible to now speculate producers theories back then, I think a version of that vocal trade (Paul to Eddie to David) started with "It's You That I Need", finally "perfected" with Eddie to David (I can't recall that first pairing, a bit prior to "You My Everything). It's still an excellent recording, even as album filler, better than other's hits.
All good points. I think "You're My Everything" really is about as perfect a record as there is, at least among the material that was put out. "We'll Be Satisfied" is a strong tune, but I'm imagining with Smokey and then Norman having a constant "lock" on the Temptations, it's very possible this one never even got to Motown's Quality Control for consideration.
Lol, sounds familiar! One of my good friends who lived across the street from me was a fan too -- we both obsessed about the Temptations and bought nearly every 45 or album they made and we'd listen to them hours on end at my house or hers. One day she asked me if I had one of her 45's and I told her no but I did have it. My conscience got to me and I returned it to her. She told me she knew I had it all the time. I felt like you know what, lol and learned my lesson.
I've learned to strip mine every last album cover, cd cover, cassette tape cover, book and magazine I could find to get the pictures. Kinda like going back to grade school days where they wanted you to cut up pictures out of your folks' magazines for some project or other!

Paul , Eddie , and David was the voices of the temptations. They made the hits.
Fair comment as regards the vocalists,Robert. The Real Talent .....The Writers,Arrangers and The Funk Brothers.
And Melvin
Dennis recorded more hits than any Temptation in their history. It’s why he is included in the Hall of Fame induction.
@@mwiluokolo9559 Without Melvin, they would be ordinary.
The original five. Never equaled.
Correct the fab five hard to match that talent.
Wrong: Classic Five with Ruffin. Bryant was an Original replaced in December 1963 when "The Way You Do the Things You Do" was recorded.
Otis Williams

Get the album if you can, it's a great one!
brilliant thanks a bunch!!
Hi Marie-Rose! You're so welcome and thank you!!
I keep trying to figure out why it is that even though there are good songs that I still hear from time to time, why I never get the same feeling from them as I get from the old favorites. You have given me the perfect explanation-
"the music with which we grow up will forever stay in our minds, in our psyche because it helped define us."
That says it ALL!
We lost precious love when we lost David Eddie Melvin and Paul
never heard these --- thank you! This was (is) my Dad's favorite group ever; Hittsville tho .....
Nice! Never heard these
They probably could've released Say You as a single also
@@Tunes342 What about Little Miss Sweetness?
3 Gems
I love this!! Thank you!!
This is Paul on this one and Eddie cut in.
David know he was a Handsome brother back in his day 😍😍😍😍
thanks! this is the bomb! with the best songs
Doubtless you know this tune was "staged" for a CBS special back in '67 and showcased the Tempts and Funks in the Snakepit including Jamerson and "The Hook" in the background.
on of the best Videos on You tube!
This is great! Thanks for sharing :-)
Hi Candy- I'm glad you enjoyed this! I still get chills hearing "We'll Be Satisfied." I just wanted to give people a chance to hear it. Thanks for listening (and watching!)

My pleasure! :-)
#Superb nobody will ever match David's Voice 💯✔️
So so right.
Dennis Edwards could match David Ruffin in vocal ability.
@@williebowen1043 Nope! I'm sorry 😞 two different people different sounds
totally
I LOVE THIS VIDEO.

THIS IS SPECTACULAR, LOVE THIS SLIDE SHOW .
note: lately, I'm finding hidden comments that are marked as "spam." It's very odd because a lot of them are comments I never marked as such. This is one of those comments I just found tonight, so I re-posted it. Thank you magnipotentmartha1 for this comment!
Where do you get these pictures from?
As I've done more of these, I've learned to slow down the pace a bit with the picture changes! lol
This Fading Away sounds like it is sung by Miracles. Was it not William Robinson who wrote it?(2024.07.28-NgeSonto-02:58-socalled South Africa)
There is a site called "Don't Forget The Motor City" that has writer, producer, recording information on every Motown recording you can think of. Here's all the details for "Fading Away":
Fading Away (William Robinson-Robert Rogers-Warren Moore) published Jobete 01-Oct-65
The Temptations; recorded Hitsville, completed 11-Aug-65 ; produced by Smokey Robinson ; [lead Eddie Kendricks]

Great' love the slide show
Blue Thunder Thank you Blue! I've got another Temptations thing going with some nice surprise "guest" appearances that you might like too- I didn't do as elaborate a slide show on that, but I think I've got some good pics all the same!
Thanks again!
waiting Thanks

+George Maylor I'm so glad you like this!
Great choice of songs....especially the first one...We'll be satisfied.
Great songs!! I wish they were bigger but thanks for uploading!
moneyqu33n101 Glad you enjoyed the "show!" Next time, there will be a couple more, for more enjoyment!
None like the Classic 5 super Leads and Harmonies these rarely heard
The best ever...
Great compilation!
Quite often, there's a reason why some tracks, remained in "the can" and were not released. They just didn't live up to the Motown standard. This is one of them.
There are 3 here; you didn't say which one.
Yes!

Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you have a heart love is real can't buy true love they soooooooooo blessed to hear old but new to us thank you You Tube. Linda j peace 💯💯💯🦋🦋🦋❤️❤️☮️☮️
RUclips really is an amazing place. So much good music all in one place and brand new ears discovering all these classics!
Fading Away was also featured on the" Temptation Live" Album. I think it at the Rooster Tail. It was on their first live album.
Yeah you're right and it was a really good performance of that song. You could tell it was a fan favorite.
@MegaMusicman09 Hey Mega, thanks for the comment and I'm glad you like the trio of tempting Temptations tunes!
The successful formula turned out to be the famed Eddie to David 1-2 vocal lead trades.
While impossible to now speculate producers theories back then, I think a version of that vocal trade
(Paul to Eddie to David) started with "It's You That I Need", finally "perfected" with Eddie to David (I can't recall that first pairing, a bit prior to "You My Everything).

Yep, Sorry Is
Fading Away
Lol, sounds familiar! One of my good friends who lived across the street from me was a fan too -- we both obsessed about the Temptations and bought nearly every 45 or album they made and we'd listen to them hours on end at my house or hers. One day she asked me if I had one of her 45's and I told her no but I did have it. My conscience got to me and I returned it to her. She told me she knew I had it all the time. I felt like you know what, lol and learned my lesson.
Get pictures I wish I had one of each!
I've learned to strip mine every last album cover, cd cover, cassette tape cover, book and magazine I could find to get the pictures. Kinda like going back to grade school days where they wanted you to cut up pictures out of your folks' magazines for some project or other!
Thanks!
paul
Thanks very much!
