    Backup Alarm comment - i work in an industry that requires you to honk your horn prior to backing up. I chose to have the backup alarm installed on my truck. After awhile - I now like it, it tells people to get out of my way and mothers that have children outside double check where those kids are! And someone will come to spot me.

    At the time when I picked up our truck in May, we had the only HO Limited Mega Cab dually configured without the sunroof in the US. I have no clue if anyone else has ordered theirs the same way, but you’re right about Mega Cab duallies being rare. The dealership we bought ours from told me they probably would only bring in 2 more to sell for the rest of 2019. He said SRW’s are by far the most popular for personal use trucks and hot shotters and company use truckers prefer the crew cab over the mega cab, if they do buy a dually.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  5 лет назад

      You are correct, most people order them more so than dealers stock them. It’s probably because of the shorter bed and most people like the extra space a long bed offer. I would prefer the mega dually just because it looks so sick!!! Thanks for sharing!

    I have to disagree with you on the backup alarm on these larger trucks for safety reasons when backing up.

  • @highschoolfishingcentral7753
    @highschoolfishingcentral7753 5 лет назад +1

    Love your videos JB. I will be buying a 3500 within the next 2 years to tow a fifth wheel but I am confused about the difference in the Crew Cab and Mega Cab. Is the wheelbase the same for both or is one longer than the other? I am pretty sure I want an 8 ft bed, can that be optioned with both the crew cab and the mega cab? This will also be my everyday vehicle so I am a bit worried about the ease of parking.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  5 лет назад +1

      Glad you like them! The Mega does have a longer wheelbase which rides on the long bed truck frame. If you get a 3500 Mega or longbed, you get a 12300# GVWR but only get the 6’4” bed with the Mega. The major difference in Crew/Mega is just rear seat comfort for the Mega Cab which adds reclining rear seats and additional storage. Crew cab has fixed seats with “in floor” storage. Both Mega/longbed are a chore to park but having a longbed with a fifth wheel makes a ton of sense! I do ok with the 6’4” bed but I also plan my trips in advance so I don’t get into a sticky situation. Hope this helps!

    Welcome to my world bro. That is pretty much my truck minus the sport package. You have no clue how nice it is on the interstate with cruise control, AC, and tunes playing towing. I have not used the 150 or 200HP tunes I normally use the 90 HP and rarely the 120HP).I did go into the tuning knowing I may have to upgrade the trans but about 18 months and 30k miles and no issues🤞

    Thank you. I am an older mom of a son with Downs. We are hoping to go full-time RVing until i can't. I have been stair stepping into this. I have a 1500 RAM after driving a cute Toyota RAV 4 snow bunny! I miss my RAV, however after 4 fire evacuations, i was impelled to get a trailer...25ft. Big jump for an ole lady! Now, getting a dually and gigantic 5th wheel is terrifying! But i can no longer care for my home and land in the woods and life has become so unpredictable! At least wherever we are, we will have a home. When i cannot drive any more, we can plant it somewhere. But i sure appreciate you showing and discussing this. I took lots of notes and will head to the city next week to see if i can swap for a 350 Ram with a tow package, right? Then by the Spring, i will be used to driving it and will sell the home and get the coach/home. Never dreamed we would do this. My poor son is still not on board. Any more advice or video links would be appreciated.

      That’s great, it’s going to feel and seem scary at first but once you get on the road, it’s going to get easier every time you tow. Always remember you are never in a rush, don’t let people rush you, and don’t have any deadlines, you get there when you get there! We live in our fifth wheel (stationary) right now but we did travel for about 4 months. It was the best experience but got stressful as soon as we started adding dates and started traveling way too much.
      If you get a dually there’s not much trailers you can’t tow, just be sure to get a 4.10 axle/High Output and your truck will have max tow. Lower trim levels will land you higher payloads, and make sure you get good tires for the trailer. Check out my #weightwatcherstruckedition 👍🏾

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  5 лет назад +1

      This is actually a really good topic! I typically use them together 100% of the time but sometimes I manually shift because I like for the tranny to hold gears longer. Thanks for sharing C1Bravo

    • @jamestraeger1976
      @jamestraeger1976 4 года назад

      It’s my experience that using the tow/haul for going up hills , helps the transmission, and the exhaust brake for going down hills when loaded. Once on Vail pass in CO going downhill I used them both together and when the truck down shifted my rear wheels lost contact with the highway and I hit the median at about 50 mph. Since then I have used them separately.

    JB the dually is great for those who need the towing power. Your axle on your 5th wheel looks totally bent, was I seeing things?

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  5 лет назад +1

      I agree! Whenever you make a sharp turn, the axles are supposed to have a little play in them. I do know some people weld a metal plate between the frame and axles for added strength.

    • @rsg1963
      @rsg1963 4 года назад

      This is pretty common on 5th wheel trailers. I had a triple axle toy hauler before and it was HORRIBLE in tight turns, ugh. never again. MorRyde makes a trailer spring suspension cross bar that goes between the spring mounts (left to right side) so they effectively strengthen each other in these cross-load situations. I added one to my trailer along with the MOR/ryde SRE2735X Suspension System. One of the BEST improvements I've ever done to the trailer.

    • @JB_WhoWork

      The Goosebox is more peace of mind for me in terms of hooking up. I’ve heard so many stories of fifth wheel hitches not latching and then falling on the truck. I also like that I have a free bed after I unhook and the pin box adds dampening going down the road so you don’t really feel it while towing.
