Than finally months later I find it again on RUclips, thank you for bringing back my memories!

So, here's something interesting I just learned. I was playing with the game's audio in Audacity, and there's actually boy equivalents for both lines in the game data! I imagine it was an oversight or a bug that caused the girl version to play in both cases. I haven't checked every scene to see if they accidentally did the reverse (I don't seem to recall such an instance), but I thought you'd be interested in that.
In the classic game, if you are playing as a boy, saying thank you to a girl for ice cream is one way to speak to a girl but talking with your mouth full is no way to speak to a girl
