I am actually quite impressed, this soundtrack, for being more obscure, is very masterfully done. The counterpoint, leading voice and developement are very well thought out, and it has very good textures. All done with real live instruments, I believe :) I haven't even seen the movie, but I really like what I am hearing. Aria for J, another track from this same OST, is just as good.
Technically it's a stand-alone story, not really specified anywhere in the timeline aside from their years of hunting for a philosopher's stone. It's still an amazing movie, however. =]
Except Al could do the clap-alchemy without a circle, which is restricted to Brotherhood/manga-verse. We just don't know EXACTLY where in the timeline the movie fits.
I really liked the soundtrack of that movie... But... Am I the only one who thought that this music reminds a bit of Gladiator's soundtrack at 2:30 ? :-)
I'm sorry guys, but this song is just too epic, and besides, as far as the animation is concerned, honestly I REALLY don't see anything wrong with it. It's different yeah, but I'm not gonna cry about it if I'm still entertained by the story (or shall we say simply by the fact that I bought this on DVD solely because I get to hear Matthew Mercer laugh evilly and manically? you know, it takes a special kind of voice to be maniacal and evil and still sound sexy).
Ardashes Najarian "If its a new world you're looking for? you won't find it beyond the Doorway of Truth, it begins here. WITH THE GROUND UNDER YOUR FEET!"
Respect to opinion, but... if the animation really was bad would the fight scenes, let alone the whole movie, be so flashy and epic? It has an uncommon gritty kind of animation style, but it's definately not bad.
@@Hundderx Arslsn senki is a novel series, it's been adapted more than once into both anime and manga, one of which was illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa(creator of FMA) So I thought it was cool that this FMA movie has the same composer as the Arslan senki anime, which was an adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's Arslan Senki manga!
So, in Brotherhood, the city where Alphone and Wrath opened the gate, is the City of Milos eh... Lol I thought that while watching the movie I was like "...I saw this place before."
i have not seen it yet but i think the place they are in is the same place they wed in the First FMA series where they encounter Siren is she in this movie?
@dddddd4236 The thing I liked about FMA was the story, and the fact that in both brotherhood AND the original, there were absolutely no fillers, even the original film. It just feels... Unusual and wrong to make a movie with no purpose...
I wouldn't call it bad. The looser art style allows for waaaay more fluidity in the animation, just look at the fight scenes. I suppose it's just a matter of preference though
Well compared to brotherhood, the artstyle used throughout the movie looks somewhat cheap. For example: the hair of the characters (Ed, Winry and a few other) look off, as well as the colours (half of Ed's eyes are green, his jacket (as far as I can remember) is not the usual vibrant red) I know that sounds like nitpicking, but if you add all those little things together (and there are many of them) you get a style which is in overall quality quite crude (but the animation is still pretty good) Honestly it's only the style used in the movie, because I utterly adore the way the anime(s) and the manga look.
Yoko Yakamori You're right of coure and the animation quality anf fluidity never bothered me, but the artstyle is just simply lacking compared to brotherhood.
Nope. It's COMPLETELY non cannon. Instead of following up on the conflict in Xing, it just incorrectly places a sidequest journy WITHIN the time line of Brotherhood, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE. The film can be great and appreciated ON ITS OWN, but it can't be considered a part of Brotherhood.
Wasn't that great. :p It was pretty typical shonen regardless of Brotherhood being the great anime it is. So if anyone else is reading this, watch it if you've really got the time, it's nothing special.

Still listen to this song while working out after about 4 1/2 years.

2:30 "Gladiator" Alchemist
The movie occurs in between seasons two and three.
Same composer
I thought the same thing!!
THERE WAS A BROTHERHOOD MOVIE!? Well my life is complete.
2:30 Gladiator Movie Soundtrack. Fullmetal gladiator
So beautiful ...
the animation of this movie is fantastic
I love this,this is so sad :)
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
Nervenending love for all anime´s ost and all japanese´s ost
This is great music.
Al's head looks too small. o-o Probably because of the angle, I don't know.
This a awesome song I love it
Its the best

But I also know that I can't change anyone's opinion. *shrugs*
AMEN sisttaaaaaaaa
Man I thought I was the only one who was super gay for Matt Mercer. Thank God im not alone
wtf

Deadphones13 YAAAS
OH MY GLOB! :O This one gets truly EPIC starting at 2:29!
Respect to opinion, but... if the animation really was bad would the fight scenes, let alone the whole movie, be so flashy and epic? It has an uncommon gritty kind of animation style, but it's definately not bad.
Oh cool, this is the same composer who did Arslan Senki's soundtrack! I knew it sounded similar!
Whats that ?

Very good ^_^

Lol I thought that while watching the movie I was like "...I saw this place before."
And Al's eyes are now more like a chibi's eyes instead of a killing armor's eyes. And Edward looks more childish too. :S
This movie was so original, and so much better than Conqueror of Shamballa! (Although, COS was really good!)
This isn't Conqueror of Shamballa. This is The Sacred Star of Milos.
@Lingyaokitty has u seen it!? ITS BEUTIFUL!!!!!
@KoolCartoons A swing and a miss son.
You may want to look up the definition of the word "Petty".
i have not seen it yet but i think the place they are in is the same place they wed in the First FMA series where they encounter Siren is she in this movie?
this track is pure epicness. the rest of the movie soundtracks are kinda boring, but this ones just awesome *-*
o ok thanks
@SayinWarriorCat yeah it just came out last week
But at all the scenes with the Gate of Truth, it's the Brotherhood-style one, so I'm assuming it's during Brotherhood...
@KoolCartoons A swing and a miss son.
You may want to look up the definition of the word "Petty". Then look up the word "Opinion".
This movie is based on the old full metal alchemist
Jorge Ujaque where is that said anywhere?
@wd0 Where did you get this music? I can't find it anywhere except for ebay, costing like $80.
@elsword34 that means I should have been happy a week a go!!
Its worth the 80 bucks.... My sound crazy but I love FMA.
@SayinWarriorCat I saw it in July, and yeah it is!!! >__
Where did you get the music?!
@dddddd4236 The thing I liked about FMA was the story, and the fact that in both brotherhood AND the original, there were absolutely no fillers, even the original film. It just feels... Unusual and wrong to make a movie with no purpose...
the second half of the original is simply filler.
Was the music done by a different composer?
0.o

As much as I dislike the lackluster art in this movie, the music is epic. Even though it doesn´t sound anything like the actual series
lackluster art? k

TheWarriorpony It doesn't shy away from amazing fluidity of the animation though.
Yoko Yakamori

TheWarriorpony I think the art style was mostly done by another company, I think.
@SayinWarriorCat It's epic.....
@DevilGuyUK Talk about being petty.
@DevilGuyUK Yeah, your opinion is petty. ;D
how so?
Wrong. Conquerers of shamballa is part of the 2003 anime
Nope. It's COMPLETELY non cannon. Instead of following up on the conflict in Xing, it just incorrectly places a sidequest journy WITHIN the time line of Brotherhood, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE.

They just had to make a filler movie.
Wasn't that great. :p It was pretty typical shonen regardless of Brotherhood being the great anime it is.

too bad Major. Armstrong looks bad compared to how he is usually drawn
fullmetal alchemist brotherhood movie :p derp

fma origanal4life!!!!!
