It's crazy to me that I will actually watch someone else work in their barn when I could be working in my own barn hahaha . Keep the videos coming guys !!
No matter how large the shop , it doesn't take long for things to get crowded ! Some great shelving Tim and Christy ! I have about 20 of the orange pieces but no posts . Thanks for sharing the Scripture Christy !! You all please be safe and God bless you !!!!! EDDY
Hi Tim and Christi, been there and done that. One suggestion I would make with the boards across the racking would be to fit a couple of 4x2 flat at each level of racking and screw the cross timbers to them. That way the cross timbers will stay in place rather than move around while you are moving material into and out of it's racking bays. A few of the cross timbers had already moved out of position by the closing shot. Just position the 4x2 flat under the cross boards and up tight to the racking rails, drop a couple of clamps in to secure them to the end cross boards temporarily, arrange the rest of the boards to suit, and run a couple of 3inch screws through each cross board into the 4x2. The 4x2 flat under the rack rails only occupies dead space between the rails, so doesn't impact on the storage space available or access, but locks the cross boards in place ensuring that they cannot move or drop through the rails while loading/unloading the stored goodies, particularly if you will be using the tractor/loader and forks for the job.
One of my tasks at my place of business is building and tearing down that sort of pallet racking...it's an art form for sure. Always happy to give any tips if you ever need them 😊😊
I have a set of those in my shop as well but they're not being used to store implements. I'd like to see a video of how you're using the shelves when you start filling them Tim. You always share great ideas and i appreciate it!
I just added a 12' x 32' garage/shed to house my 1025R and as many attachments as I can wedge in. I've decided to make dollys for all the heavy attachments (56" Simco tiller, 48" box blade, & Stump Wrecker out of pairs of 30" furniture dollys and 1 x 6" boards, and use castered scaffolding that can pass over the dollys with the shelf holding the lighter attachments on "thinned" pallets or just as is. My 48" rotary cutter has 4 three-wheeled dollys and the FEL has a set of Peter's Loader Dollys. My Heavy Hitch weight bracket has it's own dolly for that and the suitcase weights and my mower deck has a vertical Heavy Hitch cart. That way I can move everything on casters to swap around for what is needed. Kind of like those puzzles with the flat tiles you slide around to solve the jumbled-up image.
Awesome job!! I have helped put that up before learned you gain couple inches on those uprights! So if project is big enough something else to calculate for.
Might want to attach it to the wall with a little cable to prevent it falling just n case. Never know when you might drag an implement and tilt it. No I am not one of those safety police but tilted one in the past so.... They look good. Good video
Measure and put sharpie marker lines where you want the crossmembers. Where I worked we stored product in 55 gallon drums on this style of racks. We were required to bolt the crossmember and bolt the uprights into the concrete.
Tractor Time with Tim I think she did a great job, those pieces aren’t light. We had over 250’ of the racking high enough to stack pallets with 55 gallon drums 3 high. Luckily we used forklifts to help assemble them. Your shop is really coming together nicely.
They make a heavy duty wire mesh that fits the pallet rack for items which are not on a pallet. I also put a set of pallets in the middle of building. Used two which were a third of the building then connected the two with a beam high enough to walk or drive underneath. Gave a lot more storage. Great system. Cost less than 1/3 of new pallet racks.
Hi Tim, enjoying your videos. Just bought a new 2038r and I'm learning a lot without napping through the manual! FYI you may consider using some 9/16 inch bolts through the beam into the upright. The locking pins are unreliable. Just saying, I've worked around that steel for 27 years. Forklifts often bump the beam above and knock it out of place.
Hi there, I suggest you spray foam the walls before you fill it up, you won't regret it. I have a 32 x 52 ft poll building and had it done before I filled up, am very happy it was done at that time.
I have assembled a lot of pallet racking and you are scaring the crap out of me lol. Granted ours is 20' high but we ALWAYS assemble it laying down and use a machine to stand it up. It our case its a small Broderson Carydeck but johnny can easily stand up yours and assembling laying down is safer and easier. We also se bolts to hold the cross members in place on the uprights.
I have a set of these racks that I shortened to fit into a regular garage with 10' ceiling. I put heavy duty casters on bottoms to allow me to move anytime I need to clean or blow out accumulated debris. Works great but might not be safe with the full height ones you are using.
I built one barn:filled it, Built 2nd bigger barn: filled it. I'm thinking I'm seeing a trend at my place....Nice pallet racks. Never enough storage in a barn. Wet here too: been mowing at farm last few evenings:some parts dry, some not.Had some deer keep me company for a while yesterday evening and the neighbors dog came by to see what the noise was too.Got about 4 acres mowed on some right of ways: more to do though...LOVING the cab and A/C on my new to me JD 5320.Never even broke a sweat and it was 86 when I started.
I hope nothing got exposed very much LOL 😀 I would of put it in the corner but then you said you were going to insulate. Great team work and great video!!!!
Safety note,, try to attack rack cross bar or up right to barn post at top to minimize risk of rack tip over when removing or adding pallet onto rack : )
Looks great! The only thing I was say was the outlet being blocked by the rail; it may be used but looks like the lower outlet would be difficult to use easily once stuff is stacked on it. I know its a lot of work but if the 2 tier shelf was on the other side and the 3 tier swapped.... it would allow the exact same storage and remove the ‘problem’.
With all the rain you are getting and getting ....how has the planting season been going at the Family farm? And at that how has the corn heat Units been looking like so far.
@@TractorTimewithTim Ouch..that is not good at all. Making me wonder what type of growing season it will be and afraid next yr might be even worse if what some non main stream scientist say is true. Tim, maybe the wire decking would be a good option. We install a lot of racking. The wire decks make for easy assembly and you don’t have to worry about slipping planks. Adds cost but makes the decks solid.
Tim, take some of your 2x4 slats ,and cut them approximately 1 1/2 inches shorter, then screw them under your slats making a T post out of them. Much stronger and won't bow under heavy loads.
Nice teamwork but I do believe Christy was doin the most work!😀 Tim did you get the pallet racks from the place in northern Indiana, I think he also advertise's in Michigan auto and rv. No rain here in southern Mi for a couple days, I got part of my garden planted!
Is that cross beam on the top row of the racking above the ventrac attachments level it looks like the attachment at the center is one hole too low or it may just be the camera angle?
You guys are awesome. Hearing you break down the measurements, 11 feet divided by 3 is 3 and 2/3 feet HAD TO drive your viewers on the metric system NUTS. I use both metric and standard at work and I work with people from all over the world. Metric is WAY simpler.
Couple of suggestions on the barn: put out rodenticide.Mice and rats love the taste of the soy based wire insulation of newer equipment. Keep equipment manuals in vermin proof containers (or the house if it's close enough).Cheap 4 wheel furniture dollies from amazon or horrible freight are pretty handy.About 12 x 16 made of 1 x 3's and 4 swivel castors: I use mine for stacks of suitcase weights, box blades, waste oil drum, anything I move around from time to time. Drum funnel for a waste oil drum is good to have too;no mess when filling with used oil.I use oil only absorbent pads to keep drips that may occur from staining the floor. Sooner or later all equipment will get a seep or drip. Also handy when I'm servicing a tractor and have an oops. Why tractor and heavy equipment manufacturers can't locate the fuel and oil filers in a way it doesn't make a mess when changing them is a mystery to me.

Not anymore :-). Yea, we noticed it after we finished filming that day.

That stuff is awesome I think it would be cool if you had one shelf for a tractor and put your implement on those shelves
I have the same exact racking...good stuff....did mine by myself....
Wasn’t easy.....
I think some caster locking wheels to help move the shelves verses scuffing the concrete?
I would like to see Tim load the top shelf with a John Deere tractor. Looks too high for the forks to put a pallet on it
Hey Tim I’m trying to build storage shelves for my implements. So where did you get your shelves.
Search ‘pallet rack’ on Craigslist.
Brand of orange support beams?
I dunno. I use craigslist to find local used pallet racking vendor...and work from there.

These are 46” uprights. Not much wire deck available in this width. But good idea.
What do you use to hang your heavy hitches, hiller and mid buster? On your Terra King TKV how does the boot look like on the deck.
Tim, take some of your 2x4 slats ,and cut them approximately 1 1/2 inches shorter, then screw them under your slats making a T post out of them. Much stronger and won't bow under heavy loads.
The 2x4’s are plenty strong anyway.

This guy selling them still in business?? Worth the trip from Ohio
Yes, not worth trip. Search Craigslist or FB marketplace for more local “pallet rack”.
what is the depth on those racking ends?
42” I think. I have some 36”
I'll have to go look for those widths.. Menards maxed out at 30"
Search on FB marketplace.
Is the top-shelf too high because it looks like it's too high for Johnny to put stuff on it
What is the Craig’s list site where you bought these pallet racks? I looking for a rack setup like this.
Can you please share a link?

Yes. You are right!
Suggestion - bolt it down to the concrete, base of each post.
It is temporary.
@@TractorTimewithTim No worries - maybe some tie-wire back to the shed posts behind it. You never want these things tipping towards you when loaded
Why would you not insulate the wall before putting the shelves on that one wall?
Need the space NOW. No time to insulate.
Look up Eve Trakway in UK you could do with there stuff get across soft ground or 8x4 plywood sheets builders use over here
Tim you didn't have enough room to put racks on the ends of building instead across the back?
I thought we explained. This is temporary. We will insulate at some point, then move the racks.
@@TractorTimewithTim yes I heard that, Tim
Tim, How deep are those pallet racks? They look 3'. I have 2' deep pallet racks, would they be deep enough for attachments like what your're doing?
I think 42”. I do not think 2’ would be deep enough to hold pallets. Afraid they would tip forward.
We just moved this weekend and I'm just looking around like... Where do I even start?
And no clue where to find ANYTHING! Every project takes longer because of the hunt for stuff!
