I believe it's actually based on fife which is a area in Scotland the towns and villages look exactly like they do in townfall to a unsettling degree

Bro, when I saw that at the theater I was like ain’t no way 😂 At that point they should’ve said Mary Angela Laura Eddie Crane
After I played the original game, I honestly thought all of the different females are versions of Mary at different times or different egos, and Eddie represented a younger James as well as Pyramid head is his ego too.
But then nobody thought that so I threw the idea away.
But now I think about it, what is making that theory false? It makes more sense in the context of SH2 with James having to face all of their problemed egos.

I really miss silent hill 4 the room, imo it creeped me out, the two headed babies, the water prison tower, I thought it couldn't get worse then I had to stop playing in the hospital, I was 12 at the time.
I think it's the scariest game in the franchise!! Love The Room!!

I would prefer they port it outside of PS Classics as it can then have a physical copy. Fear Effect did this with the team that actually does the PS Plus Classics and ported it to PC and rereleased it on PS4/5 outside of PS Classics.
You can play silent hill 2 on the PC. It is abandonware and you can get the enhanced edition patched onto it to enjoy the second game, same for 3 and 4 but they are more annoying to get working

That would be so cool, the Arcade already used a fog horn for otherworld shifts and it'd be great to see it again

edit i watched the video a bit more and mckellan's statement about "what happens off-screen is sometimes more scary than what happens right in front of you" and tbh hes right lol. i can definetely see they know what they're doing, the CRTV is pretty creative

It was actually like that since SH3. The only difference is, tgat before it was understood, that there was some connection to thd tiwn of Silent hill, while in the new games it is independent, the Silent hil phenomenon. Many have criticised, but I think it's a good idea.

Saw the announcement trailer before this, I feel like Konami has somewhat repurposed what silent hill is, originally it was meant to be a town of with a scandalous cult, but now it’s made to be somewhat of a mental headspace where get tortured through whatever it was that you did.
Yeah, it was well established in “The Short Message” that there is a something called the “Silent Hill Phenomenon” that is starting to impact different towns and cities everywhere that will cause people’s “delusions” to “manifest.”
@JoeJones8778from what I’ve seen so far, it’s mostly impacting those who are in someway related to the cult / folks who have done something they’re trying to run away from.

Both SHF and Silent Hill Townfall have twisted this franchise to become more than just a foggy town but instead about global/ international horror! I’m so impressed with the work Konami is putting in to revive this franchise

Townfall looks promising, but i still haven't seen enough to make up a mind about it. I think i'm cautiously optimistic as of now.

@chervhezmoiNope. 1 and 3 were about a cult trying to summon a God. 4 was about a serial killer who was involved with the same cult. 2 was the only one of the originals that covered the themes of trauma and guilt.
Every game after 4 was outsourced to other developers, and nearly every single one tried to tackle the themes of only SH2, and have always come up short.
@chervhezmoiAnd for the record, I wouldn't mind it so much if they explored similar themes now again, but it's been EVERY single time, with no regard for any of the other themes of the originals.
Finally the place of my childhood enfolded matches my emotional experience.
