I send congratulations and support to everyone who has had the heart mate 3 Lvad procedure done. My Son received his Lvad not quite a year ago last July He was hoping to get weightloss Surgery but its not an option he is still struggling to loose the weight. I pray he can have it removed and give him a little more freedom and quality of Life he is only 38.God Bless you all for being strong.
I have had a Heart Mate 2 for about 7 years, My heart ha improved, they talked about decommissioning my LVAD (cutting it off and tucking it in after being hospitalized) Then they changed their mind, saying there was only a 1% chance of survival. A new heart is not an option for me so I guess I will keep it. I feel blessed to alive and have aide of loning husband. I hope Donna is alive and enjoying life.
Hang in there Lynn ! I have a heartmate III and there is absolutely no chance of them ever taking it off. I've been going strong for 3 years now. Never doubt it. All the best.
How exactly can a heart 'recover' ? Did they do stem cell therapy on something? Just imagine if world billionaires would put money into researching and developing something useful, rather than producing useless cr&p...
It's unique to every person. Her heart was too weak and the Heartmate VAD pump has allowed it to recover. I have a "friend" in the same situation. I live with a LVAD and it's tough - albeit it allows me to be independent and out of Hospital while waiting for a transplant. Its far better than being in bed. There is NO therapy that will regenerate your heart. At one moment in time they thought my heart may recover (it's regularily checked etc) and the LVAD has helped but that won't recuperate enough for me.
@@team3383 I have a friend who had is own stem cells injected into his heart during a cardiac catheterization on an experimental basis. It increased his ejections fraction to where he is no longer clinically in heart failure. But yes, it's unlikely that conventional medicine (everything prior to novel large molecule drugs and stem cells) could ever reverse damage done to heart tissue.
Quality of life :-) I hear you. Unfortunately mine cannot be taken off as my heart won't allow it. Swimming is my favourite pass time too, but that is unfortunately an old dream now. All I can do is hang my feet for a while in the water and be VERY careful of the sun.
Well it's been 6 years. And I would think they would Monitor and follow her progress. By there being no update. It don't seem she made it too long after because I would think they would want to put up a video to show her progress. But I might be wrong. Maybe she's just a private woman.
thats awesome!!! i have one and i hope to have mine removed- can you give me pointers on how or what type activities you did to get your heart stronger??
Tamula Sims .thats great hope your doing well Tamula . I have had a heartmate 3 for about a year and a half . I have so much regretted doing it ever since.
