One thing I like about Undertale Yellow is that each of its 4 endings represent a different idea of what Justice is. In True Pacifist, Clover sacrifices themselves in an act of Justice for the monsters who have been trapped underground for so long. In Flawed Pacifist, Clover seeks to punish the guilty and ONLY the guilty. In Neutral, Clover is a judge, jury and executioner, deciding who should live and who should die by their whims. In Genocide, Clover is an angel of vengence who wishes to punish monsterkind for what they did to the human children.
I think that in flawed pacifict clover doesnt really punish ceroba, they put her out of her misery. You dont gain any XP by killing her. Asgore didn't really get punished either, even though clover pulled out his gun, no shots were fired. Clover also started shaking, and the only other time that happpened was in the axis genocide fight, with the soul. that shaking happened while their LV was increasing, but not enough to actually punish asgore.
Pacifist is innocent until proven guilty. Asgore is proven guilty in the flawed pacifist so you see what Clover does. Genocide is guilty until proven innocent. Nobody gets proven innocent so...
Undertale was a meta narrative about the player, but Undertale Yellow is more like a character study of Clover and what it means to represent Justice. I love it for this and I hope we get Soul themed games that are as good as Yellow. I would love to see character studies of the other traits as well.
What I love most about UT Yellow is all the random little events and animations they put in that they didn't need to. THAT is what made Undertale for me, it's like engaging filler content. The background effects when Dalv uses his lightning strikes, Blackjack accidentally firing his gun and tripping over during that one dialogue, all the fun little minigames and puzzles you find on your path, I couldn't even begin to name all the small things that I love but I can definitely say it shows how much the creators love their game. They put their heart and soul into this and it shows.

I freaking love this game so much, Undertale Yellow doesn’t even deserve to be called a fangame because of how good it is. This video is incredibly underrated.
I share your feelings, it only really depends on the base game for context, yet the title of "fangame" has such a strong "amateur" connotation that it's really difficult to discuss with outsiders.
actually the human that attacked dalv and kanako was most likely the integrity soul since it was stated that the human disappeared and the soul was found in waterfall where you find the dusty tutu and the soul extract used on kanako turned her soul dark blue for a second
Also, in certain fun value events art is added to the lower ruins which show a picture of Dalv Running, then a picture of Axis, a picture of what seems to be the integrity soul’s human, and then an image of what appears to be the soul shattering. This backs up the claim.
AND in the geno run you find out Axis was actually sent by Chujn to apprehend "integrity" after the event that put Kanako in danger, and ended up killing them (in waterfall, as integrity headed forward from Snowdin), which, once Clover finds out sends them into that crazy LV-up rage in that fight.
I am so glad such a well made video has been created to talk about such a good fangame. I played UTY when it came out and was truly shocked by how much quality it had, even rivaling undertale. I really hope this video gets more attention, it’s super underrated.
martlet did not inject herself with chujin's serum (she would have no idea it exists on the geno route) it was determination she stole from the true lab as we get a flashback of her sneaking into the true lab, and when she transforms she gets lots of stars that look like the save point in her design, the reason she melts at the end of the battle is because DT melts all monsters that have it, that's why undyne melts when you kill her she's determined to not die but her body can't handle it
11:50 Actually, the human that attacked Kanako and Dalv was Integrity. Kanako's soul goes blue for a moment after she is injected with the serum, the FUN value drawing in the ruin pillars tell the story of how Integrity attacked Dalv but was then killed by Axis and last of all in the secret Chujin tape behind his grave he says how he hid the evidence of Axis' killing in the Waterfall, where you can find the DUSTY Tutu and the Ballet Shoes.
Kanako isn't dead. The devs confirmed in a Twitch stream that she goes on to become one of the Amalgamates, specifically the one that tucks you into bed.
@@E3ws3wd3ews Twitch archives are tougher to find than you’d think. I know the users Aeroartwork and Masterswordremix were involved. I’ll let you go from there. But there’s also the fact that one of her themes is “Tucked In”, like how the spoon amalgamate tucks you in. And Ceroba told about how she’d tuck Kanako into bed and they’d take turns telling each other good night until Kanako passed out.
I remember I played the demo so many times when I was really into Undertale, and when I fell off of the community, I completely forgot to keep up with this game, it's so amazing to see it come out and how amazing the game is, I want to play it fully when I get my new PC but I'm still gonna spoil myself because, come on the game is so amazing I can't stop myself.
The Pacifist ending had me actually crying , and I don’t think I’ve cried to a video game in a very long time . The devs really did amazing work and I genuinely love the characters so much . Also, amazing video , you nailed the feeling that most people had when playing this masterpiece .
Exactly my point. I barely cry at movies nowadays, and I always fear that I'm becoming out of touch with media or something. And then out of nowhere one REALLY good experience comes around to assure me "nah, I just haven't experienced a truly masterful story in a while".
@@Plexi.T when i played it without guide the pacifist ending got me crying seeing how Dalv. Martlet. Starlo and Ceroba saying goodbye to Clover's items
I wished you talked more about neutral run (don't get me wrong your video was amazing and i don't regret watching it) But i just find the neutral ending the best one because of how much "justice" they make for flowey. Flowey in the original game was already a compelling villain but in Undertale Yellow he is a much higher threat so much indeed that even in the ending you never defeats flowey. (Not only that but since the events of Undertale Yellow happens because of him it also implies that the game might not have a true or "canon" ending wich i find it really cool to be honest)
Yeah, I always found that interesting, how flower never turns on you in the pacifist ending. I guess he considers you too soft to be an actual viable threat to the monsters, so he never acts on his evil inclinations.
This was such a great game! It felt like I got to experience Undertale for the first time, all over again. I REALLY hope this can get a release on consoles and Steam.
undertale yellow was a GREAT fangame, and its so refreshing to see a full experience make it to fruition instead of being cancelled like most fangames. i would say that 2023 has been a great year for undertale fan content. we got another chapter for deltatraveler and the 2.0 update for the deltarune ribbit mod. deltatraveler isnt finished yet, but ribbit has been for awhile. in fact, i heavily recommend that you play ribbit, its so unbelievably weird yet genuinely hilarious at times. theres really no other experience like it out there
One thing I want to add is that the game is just a lot more fun for me than base undertale Sans was a fuckin nightmare that took five and a half hours but felt like it took years, meanwhile zenith martlet took me four hours and it barely even felt like it lasted 30 minutes.
It was very nice to see someone talk positive about Ceroba. I’ve seen her get so much hate because of how it’s her story but idk what fans were expecting. Undertale is all about meeting and talking to new characters and Ceroba is my god, how can you not fall in love with a character with a design like that? She has such a sad backstory and so much character that I can’t imagine disliking her. Not to mention her boss fights?! I’m glad she got attention. Overall, a great review of this game that kind of changed my life.
I guess people are so used to talking to already good people. They don't like the idea of having to spare someone who's actually bad. But literally, Starlo is the same way, so what gives lol.
@@Plexi.TI mean that can be said for literally every fucking Undertale character that attacks you but nobody is ready for that conversation of course. @@RabbitShirogane People hating a character won't really change much - but what's interesting is that people hate asgore for what he did, and people hate ceroba for what she did. People who enjoy one and despise the other, kind of show their own sense of justice. Asgore had 6 humans killed to free the underground, while Ceroba severely harmed 1 of her OWN children for the sake of chujin's legacy. Both did horrible things, yet both are forgiven.
I've recently decided to dig back in Undertale fandom and what a surprise, Undertale yellow was upcoming. I never heard of that game before until my friend said: "OMG!!!! LOOK IT'S GOING TO RELEASE SOON." Never knew the game was in development for 7 years. And all honestly, I didn't regret that. Undertale yellow is a truly good start of returning back in Undertale fandom. I heard someone said: "maybe we need 6 prequels to the Undertale" and I want them all to be such masterpieces like Undertale Yellow, then. At least, I want Tobyfox's reaction to that game, so It'll get more population and will get lots of fanart, for example comics and comic dubs. I watched the gameplay of very popular Russian Comic Dubler who is main content creator in the Russian Undertale fanbase, Твой Чай. I want to feel the comfort and unique of Undertale with creativity as same to Undertale Yellow. To be honest, I played undertale yellow, BUT... I quit it and deleted after Martlet's boss fight. That was INJUSTICE fight. It's actually me who sucks but I think the boss fights in Pacifist are awfully hard. At least for those small efforts of struggling I got what I want. I cried 2 hours at the ending and vibing to Ceroba's 4th phase. Man, that fires.
You deserve way more than 900 subs. More than 1000. More than 10,000. The quality of this video is incredible! It far surpasses that of some big creators. You have real talent.

RUclips recommending me something good? Keep up the good work Plexi :) Absolutely love Undertale in general, glad most are experiencing Undertale Yellow and loving it too.
One of the few fan games with absolutely no mention or appearance of Sans and Papyrus, but also managing to be really good at the same time. Sans and Papyrus have to have come from some otherworldly place or AU, perhaps Deltarune. They likely haven't been in the Underground for more than 1-2 years before the events of the original Undertale. The team behind UT yellow clearly must really love Flowey as a character, as they made his boss fight very well.
I love how Flowey describes the Yellow Soul as a Judgement Soul instead of a Justice Soul. It makes perfect sense because a lot of the time people confuse the two and sometimes consider them the same when they are seperate things. Like how Street Justice enacted by Vigilantes is considered Justice in their eyes even though in all technically it is simply them rendering Judgement upon a person. Justice is a finnicky thing to nail down as you can never know whether what you have done is truly Justice. In all attempts of Justice, Judgement is rendered, whether it be a Vigilante or the actual Justice System. And the way Clover looks into the memories of certain opponents fits the theme of Judgement because he is looking at their actions and rendering Judgement onto them. It's such a neat concept that the game brings up about the difference between Justice and Judgement.
There was a few minor errors in the story if i can bring up 1: the soul that axis killed was the patience soul as it died in waterfall and its item was the DUSTY tutu 2, kaneko fell down and was sent to alphys for the determination experiments
1- the soul with the tutu is perseverence, not patience 2- the dt experiments probably happened before flowey was created but after all the humans jave died, so the chronology doesn t make sense here either
@@minestar2247Is not too crazy of a timeline honestly. Neither UT or UTY imply that flowey met any humans before Clover, so it would be possible for flowey to be created not much before Clover arrived.
11:00 Feel free to correct my correction if you have better references, but iirc Chujin was never able to finish the serum he worked on, and the substance Martlet used was taken by her from Alphys' True Lab (hence the familiar turning into white goop once it wore off), perhaps even during the events of UTY, as implied by the lack of greyscale filter. According to the performance reports AND Chujin's logs, Axis was the reason he was fired, not the serum project, which was started after the firing. The dialogue makes me believe Martlet goes to the True Lab after your first encounter with her, because in neutral she says she carried it because she felt a bad aura in you, and that she planned to use it against you specifically if things go south. This would place her getting the syringe after she flees the battle, or after the crash with Ava, depending on your choices. It could also be later, but I'd say she was being proactive. Edit: Actually the Genocide flashback gives me the impression that Chujin warned her when she got the job, and then later on at some point there was no surveillance in the Lab, and she took the opportunity to steal the syringe. The following paragraph is probably still true, she could've easily stored it somewhere without physically carrying it at all times, since before using it she says she had almost no chance to beat you before, "but now" she has the ace up her sleeve. Judging by the dialogue, in neutral she would get the syringe regardless of whether you've killed anything yet, since she talks about an "aura" so she just knows which route this is going to end up being. Similarly, she probably never goes to get the syringe in pacifist since you wouldn't have such an aura. 11:50 A more solid theory backed by more drawings on pillars in Fun events (including one of a human wearing a tutu) and the color of the syringe's effect on Kanako in her cutscene (as Chujin had Axis pursue and kill the human in Waterfall, and it is implied he took the soul for himself to experiment on for a while), suggests it was the blue soul kid. I recommend something like Shayy's secrets and fun value videos for a showcase of these secrets, that's plenty to draw conclusions from. Overall great analysis, and I completely agree, this year and the past years have not been too great for games imo, but this one shows that there are still people with true passion in this industry.
Small corrections: Mo is a raccoon Clover is non-binary, meaning like Frisk and Chara, they are any gender you see fit but most people refer to the protag as they/them for ambiguity Chujin developed a serum that extracted from the blue Integrity soul 💙 Martlet injected herself with DT (determination) and not Chujin's serum -*-*SPOILERS*-*- ||Ceroba injected Kanako with Chujin's serum, which fueled her actions in the Pacifist ending||
Whilst there is a case for her injecting herself with determination because in a flashback she went down into the true lab and probably found the determination serum alphys used to make the amalgamations, in the genocide fight the literal cards are BLUE, which stands for integrity. There’s an argument for both!
uty is truly the best fangame I've ever seen, it's not like other stupid fangames like ink sans, uty is truly a masterpiece, I swear toby would be proud if he saw uty.
The genocide ending is the justice clover was seeking and accomplishing their mission of finding and revenging the 5 fallen humans, while in ut frisk genocide was pointless while in uty its very justificable.

@@Plexi.T There's only like one thing of the bar tender lady in the dunes, though it's only suggestive. Also, Ceroba definitely has more results than Mooch, who currently only has 6, one of them literally being r63 (that one being my doing-)
I really think that Starlo should've fought clover instead of Ceroba in genocide. Starlo has the least amount of fights in all the routes, only tied with Guardener, who's a much more minor character compared to Starlo. Ceroba has plenty of spotlight in pacifist, she should've taken the bullet for Starlo.
I can already taste the Clover misgendering hate comments. Clover is not stated to be non-binary. Their gender is just not ever specified in the game. Let people refer to them with any pronouns they want/
I was freaking in tears during the whole fight with Ceroba on true pacifist. The aftermath and credits just ended me right there. This game hit me much...MUCH harder than the original Undertale. I love every single character in this fangame. Especially Ceroba. Sure, she really messed up, but i wholeheartedly understand her motives. If only Chujin wasn't so hellbent on experiments with the SOUL none of this would transpire. This is a really tragic story. I hope there will be some kind of small continuation to the story. Like...I want to see the gang actually see the surface when Frisk finally frees everyone. I want to see Kanako and Ceroba reunite. As a small comic, aniamtion. Anything I just want to see all of the precious goobers happy kgdjhkujdg I don't think i even have the strength to complete the genocide route. I think i'll just watch a playthrough...
@@Plexi.T it's not that i lack the "strength" as in have a skill issue against the bosses. I am actually moderately good at fighting undertale bosses (inclusing sans. I had less trouble with him than with Undyne like bruh), it's the lack of emotional "strength" I don't wanna ruin the happy ending for the characters. I especially have fear of the final genocide fight, as from what i've seen she (no spoilers who) meets a VERY gruesome fate once the effects wear off. Poor thing didn't deserve this. None of the characters did
Personally i've done genocide first, it's easier to do genocide when you do it at the start, when you're not attached to the characters. Now that i've finished genocide and the neutral route now i am playing pacifist, getting heavily attached to the characters(especially dalv and ceroba)
@@andreaslefteri3661 I honestly was thinking about doing the same at first, but i really thought there would be some kind of reporcussion for doing genocide first, everything else second. Like in OG undertale, where you are being reminded of what you've done after credits
its almost 100% the integrity kid, not bravery since axis killed them and then hid the stuff somewher in waterfall also you arent supposed to have to go all the way through steam works, flowey tells you that you can use the laundry shoot to go back up
I'm gonna heavily disagree on Ceroba being well written. Her design and personality completely clashes with the rest of the cast. She's also kind of a moron. Chujin died from his experiments, his last wish was that Kanako not be involved. Ceroba proceeds to inject her daughter, while still grieving the person who's last wish was for her to not do that. This is an act so monumentally stupid that it completely killed any emotional weight for me at that point in the story. And this is aside from how psychotic the true pacifist ending is. Everyone being so quick to be okay with a literal child deciding to commit suicide is actually unhinged. Imagine if you had to fight them all off to sacrifice yourself, how much more emotionally impactful and tragic that would be, knowing they did everything they could do to stop you and still failed? But nope. They're all like "You look serious about this, okay, we'll just leave the room then." Just psychotic.
@@nylana4552 Funny how this is only ever said to people who critique something. If my opinion is rendered less valid because I haven't created a better fan game, then so are the opinions of anyone praising it who haven't created a better fan game.
I think the context of that “literal child deciding to commit suicide” is very important to take into account. There really wasn’t another good option, Clover could either spend the rest of their life hiding out, or die with honor and give the monsters a chance at freedom by giving up their soul. They chose to do the latter because helping to free an oppressed group of people is better than cowardly hiding out for the rest of your life.
@@3DFella That's Clover's decision (leaving aside the fact that they're a child and children cannot make decisions like this...), that simply does not excuse everyone's reaction to it.
I HEAVILY disagree. I think the fact that Ceroba is so willing to test Chujins work on her daughter is exactly WHY she's such a villain in the first place. She's idolized her husband. So much so that she can barely criticize him, or see him fr what he truly is. A mad scientist, one that cares about the plight of the underground monsters, but a mad one nonetheless. He let his passion and want for revenge consume him, and that led to his work a desperation becoming more and more unhinged. It's obvious to us, but to a person like Ceroba, it seems completely justified. As for Clover, we see other crazy things that the kids in the underground are capable of. I think the fact that they're a child doesn't distinguish they're sacrifice one bit. If anything, it makes the monsters respect them more, because not only do that have the will to commit such a selfless act, but they also do it while being younger than most of the other wretched humans that put them down there in the first place. Also I think I heard someone say that Colver is actually like 16 or something, but don't quote me on that.
My only wish… is to see more of Ceroba… and we had to end it on a sad note. I wished for a happy ending, but this isn’t the fantasy story told for bedtime. It’s a prologue to another’s, and sacrifices had to be made so that Frisk may have their happy ending.
Have you played "Undertale: Last Breath"? If no, try play it and try making a video of it! It was my FAVORITE undertale fan game! The phase 3 music was so catchy, it can't get out of my head! Hope you come up for this idea that i just commented! 😁👍
While that much is true, the Devs have _also_ said it's up to interpretation, so referring to Clover as "he" shouldn't be a problem. (just to let you know :) )
Remembering that Marlo was non-binary made me remember the current shitshow with gamers vs game dev Wokeness Though I feel that the Undertale franchise is safe because of the legacy of non-binary characters (hell the main characters are technically non-binary)
@@Plexi.T yes, also, fun fact: when doing geno for the first time, I got to the Ceroba fight, decided “this is too hard” and just watched Shayy’s playthrough instead
I agree the game is absolutely incredible, and by far, one of the best Undertale fangames. However, I must say I found pacifist route a tiny bit frustrating. The characters are all really charming, even the random encounters, and the attention to detail is insane, it's obvious the people behind the project are great artists, the story, on the other hand, feels a bit "empty", if you know what I mean. Some characters get introduced or named to never appear in the game, or they get presented at the very end of the game to complete someone else's arc, but it feels like there are things that aren't needed, or that they were added at the end and there wasn't time to develop them, which is a real shame. Most part of the story is compressed at the very end of the game, which doesn't help the pacing in my opinion, and the way it ends, doesn't fit the main character, however, I'm really glad it ends up being lore accurate, which is also a great point why Undertale Yellow is great. The Neutral route, though. All I can say is that it is amazing. There's a lot of inspiration in other indie games of the last few years, and the ending is just flawless. The game overall is incredibly good, it's just the pacifist route that feels a bit awkward, for me at least.
It's a very good game, but it's not at the level of the original. Matching a masterpiece is very complicated. Of course it does some things better such as combat, mini-games, animations, it has equally charismatic characters like North Star or Marlet and INCREDIBLE characters like Ceroba. It also has moments where it equals or even surpasses it at times. But then there are things that squeak in the plot that, honestly, mark the clear difference between both titles. Undertale is much more rounded in general. If I had to rate them, Undertale would be around 9.5, and Yellow between 8 and 8.5. Despite everything, I loved this game, I enjoyed it very much and it is totally worthy of carrying the name "Undertale" The best Undertale fangame ever made.
@@Plexi.T Eh, it all depends on the execution of the particular fangame. The newest Underfell fangame ("One hell of a show") was in my opinion one of the best ways to execute an AU undertale fangame.
I think my only problem with Yellow, especially after playing TS!Underswap, is that the actual gameplay of the pacifist route is kinda lame. ALL the main bosses except for Axis and Martlet do the whole ‘stalling’ thing where you just wait out the fight. It’s a bit uncreative and definitely takes out some of the joy that comes with pacifist, that being, you know, a sort of puzzle like game where you try to take the hard way to figure out how to help your opponent instead of going the easy way and attacking? Also kinda makes the ACT button entirely useless.

I gotta Screenshot this the moment I got home, this is pure gold
Also ballet shoes are labelled as dangerous.
@@maila319if it’s the best option against an undying fish then it’s definitely lethal
It's actually called Old Tutu, but yeah it is dusty confirmed by the Papyrus phone call right before the first telescope room.
Kanako isn't dead. The devs confirmed in a Twitch stream that she goes on to become one of the Amalgamates, specifically the one that tucks you into bed.
Source?

Sadly, it's a fangame, so I doubt official game outlets will feature it legitimately.
undertale yellow was a GREAT fangame, and its so refreshing to see a full experience make it to fruition instead of being cancelled like most fangames. i would say that 2023 has been a great year for undertale fan content. we got another chapter for deltatraveler and the 2.0 update for the deltarune ribbit mod. deltatraveler isnt finished yet, but ribbit has been for awhile. in fact, i heavily recommend that you play ribbit, its so unbelievably weird yet genuinely hilarious at times. theres really no other experience like it out there
One thing I want to add is that the game is just a lot more fun for me than base undertale
Sans was a fuckin nightmare that took five and a half hours but felt like it took years, meanwhile zenith martlet took me four hours and it barely even felt like it lasted 30 minutes.

Absolutely love Undertale in general, glad most are experiencing Undertale Yellow and loving it too.
Thank you for this amazing comment.
It’s more of a Masterpiece, in my heart and soul, it is an official prequel despite being a fan game.
There was a few minor errors in the story if i can bring up
1: the soul that axis killed was the patience soul as it died in waterfall and its item was the DUSTY tutu
2, kaneko fell down and was sent to alphys for the determination experiments
1- the soul with the tutu is perseverence, not patience
2- the dt experiments probably happened before flowey was created but after all the humans jave died, so the chronology doesn t make sense here either

Chujin developed a serum that extracted from the blue Integrity soul 💙
Martlet injected herself with DT (determination) and not Chujin's serum
-*-*SPOILERS*-*-
||Ceroba injected Kanako with Chujin's serum, which fueled her actions in the Pacifist ending||
Thanks for clarifying, I can never truly discern what's the actual lore or what's just borderline fanfiction tbh.
Whilst there is a case for her injecting herself with determination because in a flashback she went down into the true lab and probably found the determination serum alphys used to make the amalgamations, in the genocide fight the literal cards are BLUE, which stands for integrity. There’s an argument for both!

@peeka_ yeah, I meant the genocide route STORY is brutal not so much the gameplay.
Personally i've done genocide first, it's easier to do genocide when you do it at the start, when you're not attached to the characters. Now that i've finished genocide and the neutral route now i am playing pacifist, getting heavily attached to the characters(especially dalv and ceroba)

3:08 the charming storekeepers? i think the bartender in the wild east is more than charming 😈
Ayyy, someone gets it.
But nope. They're all like "You look serious about this, okay, we'll just leave the room then."
Just psychotic.
if you can do better no one stoping you from modding/creating a new fangame from this fangame

Despite everything, I loved this game, I enjoyed it very much and it is totally worthy of carrying the name "Undertale"
