Funny enough, because they are technically a Christian rock band (but don't really show it), I believe these words are more along the lines of Jesus on the cross than anything. "Could we have known, never would I, helped to nail down." (Our sins helped nail Him to the cross.) "This should be you." (He took our place on the cross because He knew we couldn't pay the price for our sins, so He Himself became sin and died for us instead.) It's really a cool song. If you really listen to their songs in this aspect, there are a lot of Easter eggs like this in most of their music. They are very quiet and subtle about it, which is their style, but I love their music so much ♥ So glad I grew up in that generation of music ♥♥

I was 10, a schoolgoing kid in India when i first came across this. The local channels used to play this sometimes and I was always happy when this came on. I loved it so much, had a lot of melody for a hard rock song and also the music video fascinated me. Fast forward 17 years and I’m still listening to this from time to time, the only difference is now I can understand it better. Music surely does not have any boundaries..
For me, Chevelle was most prominent in my college years. Such a great sound. They were never in my top 1-3 rotation but man everytime I put them on, I was never disappointed. Same as now (2024)…you listen to them and it’s just intense musicality blended with emotion and “feels”. Feels good man…

This band is on fire here. 🔥Had it not been for a football video game, I'd have never discovered them. Their management and record company didn't do them any favors. They're great. Drums are super tasteful and that guitar is KILLER! That Bass on the floor! Great vocals too.

I just realized that this song is a great example of prog rock. it is until the final rendition of the chorus that the meaning is revealed. they continually add to the chorus until the full meaning is revealed. chevelle is highly underrated in their composition, especially among bands that have found commercial success.

My friend and I took a train to go see these guys in San Diego, we had an extra ticket because a friend couldn't make it with us so we found a very deserving soul at the venue! we gave him the extra ticket and we all had a great experience! Everyone I met and saw at the show was amazing, they did not dissapoint. Amazing band...
This is the only band on the planet that can compile melodic harmony, deep meaningful lyrics, dark yet inspirational undertones and progressive clean vocalism into every song they have ever produced.
2:47 is the most badass second in rock history. Not sure what he does there, and you only hear it once but it sounds so cool. Even better with headphones turned up real loud 🎸

I always interpreted the lyrics to represent a person with cancer going through chemotherapy and the range of feelings a person in the position goes through. Basically the denial mechanism why will have thinking that other people get cancer, not me. The words "Now saturate" brings it home. If you listen to lyrics you can see how it applies. However the song is about something completely different. I guess that is what art is. A completely different experience depending upon perspective.

I've always loved their dynamics in how they let the tune unravel in someone's ears with ups and downs of raw unfiltered emotion.
This band is on fire here. 🔥Had it not been for a football video game, I'd have never discovered them. Their management and record company didn't do them any favors. They're great. Drums are super tasteful and that guitar is KILLER! That Bass on the floor! Great vocals too.

I just realized that this song is a great example of prog rock. it is until the final rendition of the chorus that the meaning is revealed. they continually add to the chorus until the full meaning is revealed. chevelle is highly underrated in their composition, especially among bands that have found commercial success.

My friend and I took a train to go see these guys in San Diego, we had an extra ticket because a friend couldn't make it with us so we found a very deserving soul at the venue! we gave him the extra ticket and we all had a great experience! Everyone I met and saw at the show was amazing, they did not dissapoint. Amazing band...

i just can't say it enough.. this band is amazing! the only comparison to tool i can see would be vocals to some minor degree... everyone has their influences, right? but to me, chevelle is chevelle, their own unique sound and writing style! a power trio in their own right!

I always interpreted the lyrics to represent a person with cancer going through chemotherapy and the range of feelings a person in the position goes through. Basically the denial mechanism why will have thinking that other people get cancer, not me. The words "Now saturate" brings it home. If you listen to lyrics you can see how it applies. However the song is about something completely different. I guess that is what art is. A completely different experience depending upon perspective.
