One of the best . I first watched it as a kid . My dad from Liverpool explained a lot of it to me . I'm 65 now and am still a lover of history .
Spellbinding soliloquy by Laughton to his wife during film's early minutes. Extraordinary performances.
😊sweet
The Kordas made so many great films in the 1930's and 40's. Well made and excellent casts. Charles Laughton was beginning his run of memorable roles, and the casts are full of names we would eventually recognize. With UA distributing in the US, they got wide play over here.
Charles Laughton is still one of the great ones.
One of the greatest.

A wonderful movie capturing the humanity of Henry VIII. For all his power, what he wanted was a long term loving relationship and he never got it. Add to this insightful appraisal of people in general, there was the marvelous background of the court. It is really a wonder that without todays sophisticated technology, the handiwork of Vincent Korda could work such wonders.
You don't need technology. You just need good actors. And you have them here.
After experiencing such greatness I could never endure the trash of today
........and I refuse to .
I prefer watching this 10 times in a row over suffering even one movie of today
@gel7935 We have it in color... that might be nice for you... Just go to the description box of the B&W version, and you will see a link to the colorized version (same for any movie and color version with B&W link).

Wow, insane this movie came out nearly 91 years ago
@Sol-01 Yes!!! Incredible, isn't it?!
We've got some even older films here in CCC! Hope you check them out and enjoy!
Could you recommend some movies to watch pre WW2 era?@@CultCinemaClassics
Great classic
What a great movie on a king who becomes a tyrant. The lack of music gives it a tense feel too during the execution scene. Maybe everything looks a bit too clean all the costumes and the sets but still a very interesting movie.
Obrigado.🎉
"I'm Henry the 8th I am,
Henry the 8th I am I am!
I've been eating since 6AM,
For dessert I'll have dinner again!
My name's synonymous with gluttony,
I'll always eat a turkey or ham!"

He is forever the reigning and sovereign king of character actors. I have dreamed in vain of seeing such as he in a romance, in which he triumphs in love.
Krofft super show wonderbug theme song lyrics Sittin’ in a junkyard, waitin’ to be ground up is a pile of cars.
Lookin’ for an old car. Found a funny Schlepcar. Let’s make him ours. Found a magic horn. A new car was born. The toughest of the toughest, super cars.

Un súper actor, este señor.
Charles Loughton is one of the best actors....this is a great movie.....
This was okay. Great performances by Chuck Laughton and Elsa Lanchester. This film single handedly revitalized the British film industry.
Can't wait to enjoy with you!
Спасибо 🙃
Charles Laughton in his Oscar-winning performance.
Hi, I'm from São Paulo!
Imagine going to your execution with this much dignity. Just think how times have changed.
MERECIDISIMO OSCAR CHARLES LO HIZO GENIAL

He’s so cute ❤
You know what his next to last wife of his did was very uncalled for even for Henry the eighth
8:35 Where’s his “Cod Piece”? A problem with the censors of the time? Henry VIII’s would be big enough to make him fall on his face!
Charles Laughton was a strange man but a brilliant actor.
35:50: Well, he thought wrong!
Актер очень похож на Генриха Vlll.
Great movie, however it is definitely NOT a documentary. It plays very loosely with the historical facts.
HRM Henry VIII of happy memory, certainly did not toss food on the floor. Unfortunately many people think that's exactly how he acted.
I love the line "...with half the English executioners out of work."
C.L. overacted every part he did,it was the way of old stage actors in the day.
