I can’t believe that Rick treated Marla very horribly and she deserved better than him.

All this selfish p*g headed husband thought about was himself. Treating Marla like dirt then shoving a cake into her face then the day after instantly expected her to sign those documents. Glad she left this loser and thwarted his plans for that loan.
Rick really did it to himself
After Marla leaves Rick; he loses the house. He winds up having to move back in with his parents. He also loses his job; and, is forced to get a job at a local hardware store. At his job; he encounters Marla with her new fiancé. Paul is a successful physician. Marla tells Rick that Paul treats her with respect.
This broke my heart. I don't suffer from hypothyroidism, but my oldest son does. He was bullied his whole growing up life. His paternal grandparents and all my husband's family were the worst. It wasn't that we didn't take him to the doctor, he had many health problems so we took him all the time. They did lots of blood work, but always attributed his weight to his diet. This was the kid that would live on salads and vegetables. His favorite proteins were, fish,lean chicken, and only lean beef and legumes. Finally, we found a real doctor who listened. After hearing his diet and struggles, he ran blood work which included thyroid. It was very elevated.
Watching this husband's treatment of his wife made me remember the pain of my son. The damage done took years for him to overcome.
Thank you so much for bringing this topic to light. No one knows another person's story.

I lived this. My ex would call me 2 ton tessie and put me down for weight. He would walk on opposite side of the mall so not associated with me. Took food out of my hands and more. Was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and after talking with the doc he apologized realizing it was not my fault

Marla deserves better, Rick her ex-husband shouldn't humiliate and belittle her. If I have a wife who suffers from hypothyroidism I'll stand with her to the bitter end. Hypothyroidism is curable

All smiles on the phone to Michelle only to turn on the waterworks when he saw Marla's message and his plans for that loan went straight out of the window. What goes around comes around.
Well done for Marla for leaving this selfish so called husband. He only turned on the waterworks at the end because Marla had decided to leave him he would not be about to get her to sign the documents and that why he was crying and not for Marla either. It also ruined his plans as well and it serves him right. Well done to Marla for getting this selfish ignorant loser of a husband.

Great video the way he treated his wife was unacceptable and the fact that he did it in front of their friends was really terrible and even if he didn't know about her disorder there are many reasons why a person could gain weight or lose weight and have little control over it like the stress he puts her through 24/7 365 and it was great that he needed her co-signature just before she disappeared he didn't think he needed her but he needed her more than she needed him and it was wise for her to disappear emotionally abusive partners often become physically abusive when the partner tries to leave so it's best to leave when they're not home unfortunately this man learned the hard way that The Grass Is Always Greener and you never know what you have until it's gone you really have to appreciate what you have and when tensions are high take a breath before you say something you can't take back

I don't buy Rick suddenly crying at the end because Marla left him, unless he's only crying because without her, he can't get that loan. In reality, someone this abusive and arrogant would just shrug off her leaving with a "whatever, she'll come crawling back to me in a week" attitude.
Also, as bad as Rick is, shame on his and Marla's friends too for continuing to associate with Rick after learning what an abusive pig he is.
Exactly what I thought as well. He didn't care about Marla's feelings or wellbeing either.

For me if I were the wife taking off the ring and leaving him isn't enough see needs to file the divorce papers and see to it to never look back. The husband should be ashamed that he made an ass out of himself in front of friends and wife. Being in a lot of stress is no excuse to treat your significant other that way.
