Great bit of kit, small enough to keep in my map pocket when moving light. It looks good in comb arid too. I might have to get one to go with the 4 I already have.
I'm a huge fan of my Arktis stowaway shirt: incredibly light, highly windproof, surprisingly shower resistant and rolls up small enough to throw in to a corner of your EDC bag and forget about until you need it. Great bit of kit.
@@MoorlanderEDC Cheers! I've only really used it as an outer layer in the summer months. But I'm going to a 40-hour MilSim event this weekend and I'm expecting at the very least some showers and possibly temperatures dropping down to freezing. This will be a great thing to have in my cargo pocket in case it starts getting too wet with just a field shirt and body armour over the base layer. As for the freezing temperatures, I'm bringing a Dutch woobie and a lightweight loft jacket to sleep in together with my sleeping bag, so hopefully I won't have to worry about getting too cold. I tend to run hot and sweat a lot when moving, but I get cold easily once I'm ready to fall asleep. Thanks again for replying so quickly! I wasn't expecting that! Edit to add: I have two of these, actually. One in Belgian jigsaw, and one in Greek lizard!
As much as I'd like a Helikon wind shirt (in night desert obvs!), I've had an Arktis stowaway for years now and I've got no reason to replace it other than for fashion (night desert) reasons. It's the most beautifully simple and effective bits of kit that i own. I absolutely don't go out on a jolly without it.
Fantastic review my friend! Arktis products are top notch and I really enjoy their smocks. Any chance we can see a review of their new Meldon trousers?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Leave it with me and I'll see what I can arrange for the Meldons in the new year. I always keen to try new gear 🤙 all the best
I bought one of these after I got my Windrunner shirt to see the difference, I would pick the helikon just based on the material it’s much nicer to the touch, I haven’t really used the arktis much it’s quite a “stiff” material compared to the helikon. I would say based on your waterproof shots it’s probably better in a heavy shower though.
It's a fifth of the weight of my current old Rohan stowable ( obviously it's a little more robust.) and a third of its size stowed. I didn't realise these came so far down the body. As I dislike water & windproof kit that doesn't cover your bum and hip joints. I'll definitely be looking at getting one .Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the introduction to this piece of gear.👍 Appears to be light as a feather yet covers the torso quite well. Impressive. Personally, I need to look into this as all I have is the standard U.S. G.I. poncho. Though I know well how to fold it to a small rectangle to hang over the pistol belt, it is a pain in the posterior to refold after use.😒 I can clearly see how this particular short, light, self-storage rain shirt/jacket would be very helpful.👍
Oh definitely, it's a great shirt. I've been sent some pinches and liners to test out. Should have some content out soon 🤙 I hope you're well my friend
Taking a shower fully clothes is rather unusual, don't you think.?! Waffler want, Waffler do.! Someone said it's a pomme shower? Love the Stowaway. Love the bloopers. Cheers matey.

Interesting but not enough because too simple (I am 100% agree with your adds to add :)) I have Helikon-Tex Tramontane and Windrunner but these Arktis seems more water resistant than these HT ... not a problem I have a level above from Arktis for big rains (the A310 rainshield coat) ^^ And there are plenty colours for all of their products, thumbs up for this !
I got tramontane and it can take only light shower for a short period. Of course it is designed mainly to save you from wind, and it does. But at least it dries in few minutes. Sounds like this one a bit better for rainy weather.
The fabric is thicker and slightly heavier. If I remember the Tramontane is about 120g where as this is around 220g. It'll keep you frier longer for sure
I really love my Helikon stuff but always wish it wasn’t “made in China”. Not that there is anything wrong with that these days but I think it has been responsible for some poor QC on their stuff. So I had a look at the Arktis stuff thinking it was made in the UK only to find the stowaway is “made in Bangladesh”. With this in mind whats the quality like, especially the stitching?
It would be nice if they made it in Poland. I guess at the moment they have a great balance of quality and value. From what I understand they also make sure working standards and QC at their factory is the best possible to make sure that their quality out put is the best
I have this and like it. However it drives me nuts that there is no pocket! Would be perfect with even a small velcro pocket to have access to things on walks and runs.
That extra pocket would definitely make this an essential jacket. It's definitely something they could remedy easily. I wonder if the reason they didn't add it is they've have those sewn seems that aren't taped right on your chest
A sponge? Have you washed it at all? Only reason I ask is if the DWR'ness has been removed. There's plenty of comments here, plus my experience where this works like a champ. Have you re-proofed yours? It seems weird and maybe yours didn't get treated/proof properly maybe when it was made
I've had one of these for many many years and it's been brilliant, I'm thinking of buying a second one.
With the rain we've been having I can definitely say they come in handy 😊

Do it.

That's the beauty of it. Sits in a bag, takes up no space until you need it 🤙 thanks for watching buddy
Would you say it keeps you dry enough if you wear it underneath a poly-cotton field shirt as a compromise between breathability and staying dry?
@@JohnDoesSports oh definitely. There'll be a saturation point however the other layer will help to reduce that 👍

A review perfectly encapsulated in a comment. Totally agree

Great review! Greetings from across the pond 🇺🇸
Thank you my friend, I hope you're well and had a great weekend 🇺🇲🇬🇧
Love the Comb Arid but not as much as the desert night camo on my Helikon Windrunner bought after your review. Good vid, keep it up sir.
Ha ha ha... Arktis need to up their DNC game 🤣

stowaway is not for rain I have this jacket and in the rain it absorbs water like a sponge
