You probably already know this, but such laws were introduced to tackle the growing pains of transitioning from a piss poor village to first world metropolis. Yes, you cannot compare the cost of living with neighboring countries like SE Asia because it is still a developing countries & not so advance. I find S'pore is advancing too fast in terms of technology & digitally that the older folks are finding it difficult to catch up.
Don't worry those old folks are happier in Penang and Malacca due to the same cultural background and foods not to mention they can buy bigger properties and live better in Penang than ever before. They can still see their children because they are close by.
Lived in Siberia before coming here to SG - went to live in Russia to study how their society transitioned after the collapse of the Soviet union. I've always felt that if the USSR successfully transitioned into a capitalist economy, it would very much resemble SG. Many things Russians and SG folks have in common.

I guess people do not give way to vehicles coming from minor roads because the highway code states that cars from monor roads are to give way instead. By trying to give way when you are on major roads, you might actually be holding back main traffic flows. Probably it's a culture that we might have to review.
It's selfish behaviour, all you need is slow down, not come to a complete stop, people do that in civilised country, long way to go for the drivers here to do the right thing, I been driving for over 40 years, 30 overseas, the drivers here are the worst, they don't signal in time, most don't signal at all, expect you to read their mind.
I am curious about Russians. I am living in a hdb apartment. There is a Russian family living next to my block. I have seen the family grown in size. We were on par when my first 3 kids we were born. Then we stopped, but they continued. ..6 or 7. I have losed count. They are like us the locals in many ways...
I hope you know there are also people who have been here much longer and contributed to SG and still yet to receive their PR. So shouldn't they be ahead of the queue?
It's a disadvantage for Max because he has a celebrity status now. Just like the government in China, they prefer noncelebrities who don't have too many fans, because when they are disappointed they will share them with their fans and this can cause difficulties for the government.
It's always the local our country man who thinks Singapore is a fine city, while foreigner like yourself Max give a different perspective and thanks for voicing out that no one was "shot" for jaywalking.. haha
All the ding dongs who complain life in Singapore is difficult and expensive really need a trial in other major cities around the world. You will see how much worse it is there. As someone who grew up in other countries (including a few third world countries), I can tell you, Singapore really is haven compared to those places.
what can happen to Singaporeans if world war 3 may occur and the major problem is where to get the fresh water resources especially those who stay in high rise buildings due to everything collapse but it's definitely different if you stay in a bigger area such as Malaysia Thailand or Indonesia .
Actually if I were in charge of approving citizenship for SG, I would be very cautious to approve a popular influencer. It is very easy for someone to switch camps. You may be an asset to Singapore now but if you turn to the dark side in the future, you can be a very heavy liability. It is almost impossible to revoke your citizenship once handed to you. This is just my opinion. Your videos are great by the way.
It doesn’t make any sense at all to generalise about RUclipsrs. Even elected politicians and military personnel who are supposed to be extremely loyal have betrayed their country.
Russian and those westerners cannot fit into local Singapore cultures and customs. It is best those westerners leave Singapore as soon as they can .. it is hard to accept them as part of Singapore
The waiting list is too long. Even Americans and English people are on the list. Singapore is small and they are expecting young fresh graduates with honors from overseas universities Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, MIT, Monash, New South Wales, Melbourne University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and from foreign students in Singapore from Nanyang, NUS universities as well from neighboring Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philipines even Greece.
@2:14 about the taxi drivers who for no apparent reason brakes and accelerate?? It's true. Haha these are the very senior drivers if you notice carefully . 😂
I've never been to Russia but my friend told me a story about her husband who was robbed by some Chechens in Moscow on his first day there. He had just gone to the convenience store to buy some stuff and when he walked out the store he was pulled into the alley and had a knife placed next to his throat. He of course gave all his cash to them. It was only when he went to his hotel to ask for help that the staff told him this was a common modus operandi by the Chechen gangs there. This was about 10 years or so ago and it gave me the impression that Moscow might not be that safe. What are your views about this?
Hi have u ever also interview some singaporean that left Singapore and came back with a different view on the country or some who feels that they want to leave and leaves else where
As a Singaporean, looking at the war from outside, and watching on youtube independent intrepid travellers to Ukraine - yes, it's still open to intl travels - showing us how people and children there are affected by the drone bombings, I can't help but feel Putin feels his own people's lives (sending untrained Russian men to war) as well as those of Ukranians are worthless to him. He's no different from the Nazis. This is a pointless war and hope it will come to an end soon, with participation of whichever countries that could act as mediators for peace.
er Layoff CNN brah, it's turning your brains into mush. You sound like those who think WMDs were found in Iraq too lol Strategic denial of NATO from one's borders isn't "pointless" but rudimentary concepts like these are foreign to the average sinkie ig
I feel that if there's a lot of cars behind, just go lol. I think we're so used to small road giving way to main road that no one will complain so much. I do that when i'm walking at a zebra crossing, if there's no people behind me and i just quickly let all the cars go ahead first, it's quite poor thing waiting for slow pedestrians who take their own sweet time 😅
Hmm, I want to know are there any investments like buying stock that you have make in Russia before going to so many countries and if you are short of $$$ did you even benefit from currency conversion in Singapore?😊

Emergency lights are used in Japan for courtesy as well.
I am curious about Russians. I am living in a hdb apartment. There is a Russian family living next to my block. I have seen the family grown in size. We were on par when my first 3 kids we were born. Then we stopped, but they continued. ..6 or 7. I have losed count. They are like us the locals in many ways...
Very productive couple
Singapore should give you PR already! 😊
I hope you know there are also people who have been here much longer and contributed to SG and still yet to receive their PR. So shouldn't they be ahead of the queue?
Welcome to Singapore!
here in australia is also a "fine"country.
AUKUS no way at the moment.
I think it is the traffic rule that cars from minor roads have to give way to cars from major road. The latter has the right of way first.
Max is now officially my favourite Russian.
Hahaha 😅
It's a disadvantage for Max because he has a celebrity status now. Just like the government in China, they prefer noncelebrities who don't have too many fans, because when they are disappointed they will share them with their fans and this can cause difficulties for the government.
@@MaxChernov Very engaging content Max. I'm a budding RUclipsr in SG. How much do you make from RUclips? Is it enough to survive in SG?
Singapore welcomes money, knowledge and young people with brains and prospects.
Not sure comparison to London and New York is correct given these are much larger cities
As someone who grew up in other countries (including a few third world countries), I can tell you, Singapore really is haven compared to those places.
well said.
The most exotic sounding use of lah towards the end haha 😂 greetings from Singaporean
Thanks for making SG your Home 🏡😁🎉
What visa are you on?
people say its a fine/strict city because you have to find something negative to say since you can't say SG is dangerous.
Hahahaha but I do find it weird that the interviewer is not Max. I think max should have interviewed this Russian guest.
Hi Max, Russia is a great country!!
A better country compared to many Western countries at the moment.
what can happen to Singaporeans if world war 3 may occur and the major problem is where to get the fresh water resources especially those who stay in high rise buildings due to everything collapse but it's definitely different if you stay in a bigger area such as Malaysia Thailand or Indonesia .
That’s why SG gov is vocal against conflicts and US-China tensions which can spark war in Asia
How to get a visa to stay in Sing as a foreigner?
Actually if I were in charge of approving citizenship for SG, I would be very cautious to approve a popular influencer.
It is very easy for someone to switch camps.
You may be an asset to Singapore now but if you turn to the dark side in the future, you can be a very heavy liability. It is almost impossible to revoke your citizenship once handed to you.
This is just my opinion. Your videos are great by the way.
Dark side 😂
It doesn’t make any sense at all to generalise about RUclipsrs. Even elected politicians and military personnel who are supposed to be extremely loyal have betrayed their country.
Why is Singapore govt still not granting Max a PR
Background check.
because he is not Chin**e
It considers Jaywalk when you dont used the Designated Crossing within few metres where you are.
@2:14 about the taxi drivers who for no apparent reason brakes and accelerate?? It's true. Haha these are the very senior drivers if you notice carefully . 😂
Maybe at very advanced age they can see somethings that no one else can. So time will tell for me lol
Nice sharing bro
Do you think you will interview a Malaysian expat in Singapore? How are them different from Western expatriates?
I've never been to Russia but my friend told me a story about her husband who was robbed by some Chechens in Moscow on his first day there. He had just gone to the convenience store to buy some stuff and when he walked out the store he was pulled into the alley and had a knife placed next to his throat. He of course gave all his cash to them. It was only when he went to his hotel to ask for help that the staff told him this was a common modus operandi by the Chechen gangs there. This was about 10 years or so ago and it gave me the impression that Moscow might not be that safe. What are your views about this?
What neighborhood in Moscow did he go to? Like any big city, there are good hoods and bad hoods!
@@mrconfusion87 I wouldn't know which area as I've never been there before. All I remember is it happened near his hotel
Haha this guy very localized already 😅😂
Hi have u ever also interview some singaporean that left Singapore and came back with a different view on the country or some who feels that they want to leave and leaves else where
@2:30 - "kia" = scare and "su" =lose , basically don't be a loser (by not taking advantage of an opportunity for example).
Tell the West to stop sending weapon, war stops in two days ..
er Layoff CNN brah, it's turning your brains into mush. You sound like those who think WMDs were found in Iraq too lol Strategic denial of NATO from one's borders isn't "pointless" but rudimentary concepts like these are foreign to the average sinkie ig
interesting, the role has changed :)
I feel that if there's a lot of cars behind, just go lol. I think we're so used to small road giving way to main road that no one will complain so much. I do that when i'm walking at a zebra crossing, if there's no people behind me and i just quickly let all the cars go ahead first, it's quite poor thing waiting for slow pedestrians who take their own sweet time 😅
hi max, you are the roof top of senja market....
French in SG for 8yrs, dont plan to leave anytime soon :D
Imagine introducing yourself in 3rd person...
You could have gotten a better deal renting a decent HDB apartment with the same lvl of convenience 😁
kiasu is best translated as competitive. Being competitive is really in the genes of enthic Chinese.
Hmm, I want to know are there any investments like buying stock that you have make in Russia before going to so many countries and if you are short of $$$ did you even benefit from currency conversion in Singapore?😊
Sg got amazing foods...everyone loves sg...
Kia means scared. Su means lose. So kiasu means scared to lose out
Scared = Fear, Lose = Missed out on a Win !!! FOMO is within acceptable range lol
They were poking the bear since 2014, where ukrainian russians were bullied relentlessly.
