  • I made the trip down to Acworth to check out what all the rage is down there. It is very different to most Georgia lakes I have fished, It's very shallow and has a lot of vegetation on the banks. With a little more time on the water anyone could learn these Bass patterns well.
I will be back, a good 5 bass limit here will probably push the 20lb mark.

Those bouys are set up for ski slalom for a ski club. Apparently they own some property on the lake and we're grandfathered in. They are allowed to use their ski boat one specific day during the week in between Memorial and Labor day. One year it was Tuesdays and another year it was Wednesdays. I caught my PB on this lake but usually end up skunked due to the fishing pressure this lake receives day in and day out. In the video it looked dirtier than normal. Usually it has about 4ft or so of visibility. Nice fish on that lake though. There are some giants in there.

Weird, I’ve heard of the ski club, seems like whatever day they are out there it has to be the worst. Lol.

@@SammyBenitez Yeah they pretty much run from that dock to the dam and so that part of the lake is all churned up and fishing would be horrible there. All that rock you found when you caught that bass is part of an old road bed. Carolina rigged ol' Monster worm in Junebug dragged across the rocks usually produces some fish. Other than that, when the water is cleaner...topwater early in the mornings work well.

Chris McFarland appreciate the info! Sounds like you got this one down and confirmed most of what I saw out there.

@@SammyBenitez it's a stellar crappie lake too. Black and white crappie to 3 pounds and bass over 5 are not uncommon. And I do my fishing from the bank

@@jeremiahgiles3593 from where? I was just there today and threw everything I had at it and only got some bites on a hollow frog.

I've caught a lot of big bass, crappie and catfish in the lake. You just gotta what & where. Some will call me hateful, I'd be glad to show somebody I'm fishin with, but it's so pressured already that I don't discuss the good stuff on public forum. Biggest out of there is 8.3lbs, 2.9 crappie and 19lb catfish. It's not as good as it used to be, but they're in there for sure.

The golf course there had a huge chemical spill a few years back so they had to drain the whole lake down and it ruined a lot of stuff now that it is back up I heard that they drain it at the end of September each year

I’m not sure they drain it annually. I follow a few guys that frequent the lake, and although they may not catch a lot every trip, they definitely pull out significantly larger fish than Allatoona every time. They did have sewage leaking into to it earlier this year though… lol.

Here and in other forums I read about Lake Acworth fishing have declined in the past few years due to pressure, etc. Does anyone know if DNR ever restocks it? Seems a shame not to manage it and let the fish numbers dwindle.

"Where does that water come from"?? HAHA... mostly from sewers and rain run off

Where would you fish for catfish here? I'm going out tomorrow in my kayak and am curious

I wish I knew, I’m clueless on catfishing. It depends on the type too, but for channel cats maybe in that same area I caught the bass? In the channel. Lol.

Typical Ga lake. Shallow end and a deep end. There are no natural lakes in Ga. north of he coastal flood plains.

Yeah, this the first lake like this I’ve encountered and fished. But it’s important to know which side is which when making a plan.
