You need a m.2 2242 SSD, which is SATA. Maximum size I found was 256Gb. Don't mind the 2 gaps and seeing only 1 gap on the computer slot. When M.2 SSD is recognised, but not in Windows, you must change some settings in BIOS. Disable msata and Raid, => computer won't boot. Back to BIOS and enable msata and raid. That did the trick for me, the drive was visible in disk management.
Hey man, quick question if you mind. I have a zbook 15u g2, which looks exactly the same , but is made for 2260. Now I have a 2242, but am wondering how to put it in. Somehow there seem to be no screws in the holes where it should be. Can I just add a stainless steel screw in there somehow, or do I need to be carefull concerning heating or something else? In fact, on my computer, the place for the 2242 looks exactly like yours on the place where a 2260 would fit in, so much lower to the motherboard... Hoping to hear frim you and keep it up! A
Hey, in this case, you should the install the SSD which fits perfectly and for the screw part, pull up the screw from the motherboard, the one which doesn't make any difference if removed. Another suggestion would be getting an external panel for ssd, which allows it to be fit in place of hard drive/ another size ssd. You have look for that particular size panel and you will be able to use it.

1.See, if you are asking in respect of this laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G1), then when you remove the battery, there is a sign on that battery space of the sim which guides you to insert the sim in the particular direction. I will try to soon post a video on that. 2.In the case of a smart card, you can insert on either side of the laptop where "SC" is written with the same width of the insert area as of the card and it is used mostly in companies as the employees might enter their ID card or any other card for authentication purposes. 3.With HP Elitebook 840 G1 model laptop you can insert the only DDR3, check the specifications of your laptop with which it is compatible to run.
