I bought Silk Road as a cassette in Oregon in 1986. I played it in my car as I drove through the beautiful forests of the Pacific Northwest. Now whenever I hear it I “see” those forests. Though the silk Road goes through the deserts of Asia, for me it will always be the forests of North America.
This is the first thing I heard when I arrived in CA in 1982. It's absolutely the most beautiful music I've ever heard. I put it on when I am having an anxiety attack. Works better than a charm. Unfortunately, I ended up back in Florida. I want to find the music sheets, I found a music box you can program yourself.
This is my father favorite playlist while he was working from our house, and today I do the same when Work From Home during this pandemic. Rest in peace Dad... Your memory will last forever as long as this music keeps playing
My father also introduced me to Kitaro,... years ago. Now I listen to it while I work on my computer or while stretching... You must have had a great dad too!
The Best for you Friend... my Father the Gorilla has been eaten by Spiders on Cybertron
Your father is a wise man♥️

I listened to KITARO's Silk Road some 35 years ago .... took me to another dimension. Sooooooooo Beautiful !!! ~~
got me through school - the grad kind
I just discovered Kitaro a couple days ago. I've needed this my entire life.
Me too. Since my entire life of music, here in Brazil.
Funny. I also was deeply into kitaro in 1985-88 about 35 years ago. Makes me realise how time flies but kitaro lives on forever
took me to another time
Very nice story 🙂
I still vividly listening to this as a cassette tape in my Dad's Ford Ranger, after he took me into the music store in the mall one day when he picked me up from school, and took me out to dinner on his weekday visit with me. He did everything he could after they divorced, and my sister and I started to see him less. These days reminded me how much he loved us. Kitaro is such a major influence in my younger years because of it.
Hi Rusty Bill... I shared similar sesentiments w/u thru your narratives about ur intro to d world of Kitaro music thru ur
dad & that was more than a generation ago & we r now
Seniors/grandpa's ourselves!!
D funny Q? begging an answer is: How to intro Kitaro genra's
of music to d current gens; other than intro a DVD disc album from a Rustic music's
store, ie if they re still around!
😢
Sounds like you had a very cool father 💖💞
Why did you lose contact? Why did you let that happen? Sorry for asking.
When visiting Krakow, i went to a local market in the Jewish quarters and there was a guy selling 2nd hand vinyls. He recommended Kitaro and i purchased volume 1 and 2 of Silk Road from him. It was one of the best vinyl purchases I've made and a great suprise listening to this great music for the first time.
I hope to visit Poland again sometime and thank this man, if he is still there.
I fell in love with this album through the 1980s TV documentary Silk Road. Yet to find anything that even comes close to Kitaro's brilliance.
I have all the cd's of Kitaro. Please listen to Vangelis "Direct"you will
love it.
I saw this fascinating documentary, too. And some time later I found the LP in our radio-shop. I was so happy! Still today I own this LP. This music is leading me onto dream-journey, and I still remember the pictures of the landscapes shown in the documentary!
So many comments of fathers introducing Kitaro to them.
I’m the same. But my father had a stroke from stress and I fell I’m heading the same way. Such is life. At least I can always listen to this to take me back to better times.
How are you ?
I Hope you feel better.
Yes this music looks like from other World, helping to relieve and cure soul and Heart
This was the favorite music of my twin sister.
She unfortunately passed away in 2004.
Whenever I hear Kitaro, it reminds me of her.
It still hurts so much.
RIP
Sorry for you're loss. It's forever worthy.
Kitaro deserves to be hailed as Japan's national treasure.
I really don't see why he can't be ranked alongside the classical masters of the Western world, the difference in musical genre notwithstanding.
There is nothing more to add to that. That is absolutely true.
Old classical Western Masters are fading from cultural relevancy as each year passes. Kitaro is musical master of the semiconductor age. There is no need for alongside ranking.
They probably will not rank him as a national treasure. Kitaro's family were criminals similar to mafia from the 1920's thru the 1950's. Sins of the ancestors kind of thing. @tertia4808 has it just about right.
Kitaro's music moves me. It takes my mind places. In a camel caravan in 114 AD, approaching the river oasis hoping for water there. Or settling into the markets of Chang An, meeting an old love who stayed behind from my previous caravan, hoping she still lives. A 5 year journey there and back, 5 years at home, this time with 20 Arabian horses to trade for silk which does not break like fine fired clay wares. Carry no gold just so bandits can steal it easily. Listening to voices with many different languages. Really, Kitaro's music takes me there. To the Buddhist village of painted caves. Always on the lookout for dragon bones to sell to the apothecary at the military fort near the drying oasis and discovering the place now belongs to a different country. Ever the diplomat, ever the drinker of very little water. Traveling by night and early morning when it is cold and noting the stars to be directed by. Driving the animals over trackless dunes and sharp hard ground. Keeping the camel keepers from bickering. Rationing water and feed for the horses. Always some tragedy is recent, as some animal or a man perishes. Bartering two horses for our lives with some new kind of bandits. Most of the time the only sounds are the wind or the ground and footsteps of man or beast. Sometimes no bird is seen for weeks, other times strange prey or carrion birds. The base of a dune presented a long dead and desicated camel one day. Nobody will tell the stories of the caravaners for few can write, and even fewer return home. At one village past the capital, a river of clear water, and there are golden fish, Koi, each given a name, some said to be 200 years old if the tale is true. Giant water wheels that lift river water to high troughs that lead to fields of pungent greens and roots. They eat well.
Just discover I have this album on vinyl. I have two boxes of thrift store vinyl that I picked up over 13 years ago. Nice find.
back in 90-00 I was only metal music but then friend of of mine "forced" to listen some Kitaro "
I truly appreciate you're examples.
The Best Kitaro . RJ Brazil .

It is 2023, and I still listen to this. Good music lasts forever.
It`s like a feeling of seeing stars in the desert or looking at the blue sky.
In fact, Kitaro's silkroad is the bestseller of Newage music.
I think so, too.
You are right
When my dad came to Australia in 1989, he first listened to it in 1990, he absolutely loved it and when I was born in 1998, I've being listening to this since I was really little, first listened to this album in 2000 and still am today. It's timeless.
it really is timeless. i used to listen to this and the other musics from kitaro. silk road and koi was my dad's favourite. i used to listen to them when i was younger. i think it was in early 2000 when i was still living with my dad. he always play this at home. now when i listen to them it reminds me of my dad. i pray to god he will always fine until i come visit him. uhh i want to cry T.T
Goosebumps! Listened to this "magic music" in the middle of the 80s under a star-spangled sky on the roof of a nice small pension of a friendly Turkish family on the beautiful coast of Lycia near Patara with its stunning beach and very old ruins still hidden in the golden sand behind it. After a long hot day in our car, we relaxed, enjoyed local food and tasty red wine served by a kind student from Istanbul. He had bought this cassette (yes: cassette) with the perfect music for a perfect night... Since that summer night, I am an absolute fan of Kitaro - he is creating powerful pictures before my inner eye with his sounds... My favourite titles are "Takla Makan Desert" and "Sunrise above the Holy Mountain". Later I learnt his music is also valued by therapists...
SARIBONCUK I remember those star spangled skies very well. In the summer of ‘88 I and my brother stayed in Kalkan for a week, spent days in Patara Beach, nights in the town and the harbor. I was a young college student back then. We befriended with a German couple, and one night watched the amazing skies from the breakwater together. Lovely days were they indeed.
Yes! Cassettes! Me too!
I also found and loved this music in Turkey❤️
I also found and loved this music in Turkey ❤️❤️❤️
😀👍
I was the hostess at a gorgeous openair restaurant (La Terrazi di Marti) in Key West in 1987. This music was played in those nights of warm breezes & starry skies:
I was in Heaven!! The last track is inexpressibly beautiful. & yearning..
You had been lucky to experience this music in such place and ambiance .
Kitaro's music brings you in others dimensions, healing soul and Heart 🙂
I listened to kitaro the Silk Road when I was 20 years old, and I’m 40 years and still listening to it with my one year old baby. Love it love it 🥰
As a child, I was enchanted by the film and music of Silky Road. Today I can't work without Kitaro's music. It's wonderful, so many people work with Kitaro's music. I try to pass this habit on to my children.
This was one of the tapes I bought when I was young. I am now 50 years old. I still listen!
Greetings to all from Kyrgyzstan!
I really enjoy to listen the Kitaro's collection. With drinking some tea and cake. Many cassette I've collected. Maybe about 50 or more. Success and Peacefull from Bali island, Indonesia.
This is a music of pure love and light. Untouched by the sorrows of this world...
My father made sure I was born to Kitaro's music. In the literal sense, he made sure this was playing in the room as I came out. Good influences start young.
The same with my son. I chose this song when he was born. :-)
what a way to come in .... wow !! good call dad
Thanks to my parents who introduced me to this, I appreciate this beautiful soundtrack from start to finish ❤️🙏🏻
I used to listen to this with my dad in his car, it was his favourite. I'll never forget it.
me, too. and my dad recorded it on tape so i could listen to it in bed.
same by me :')
same here, so nostalgic and beautiful
Your dad has great taste in music.
Likewise here, gained such inspiration from my dad.
Every decade is full of creativity but the 70s and 80s are the peak of how creativity combines with such beauty that touches the soul deeply ..
I agree Kitaro is awesome
Was introduced to Kitaro's Silk Road back in 1984 by my then boyfriend, now husband. We would listen to this when we went to bed. Very romantic memories. Wish I could turn back the hands of time.
I too back 1986 was taken to this dimension when I first herd this magnificent master. Happly I am again thank you
Oh WOW 💖
20 Years ago we "forgot" to turn off the CD and it repeated and went on and on and on - not for hours but for days ☺it felt so natural that this music accompanied our lives. Great to hear it again 🙏💚
I've listened gratefully to Kitaro since early 80's and still do. Glad to find this available.
First time listening to this and I'm definitely seeing how it became such a staple in people's lives. These songs feel like magic in a bottle, sparkly and alive. Super enjoyed listening through this all
I’ve loved this album for almost 40 years.
Anybody remember "Hearts of Space? " It was a weekly radio program that played Kitaro and other sidereal music. Listening to the Silk Road takes me back to a magical time when almost anything seemed possible.
Yes, I listened to Hearts of Space, every Sunday night on our public radio station...loved the tunes, I usually have a smoke, and put on th ed headphones...
@@floydjerls2358 Loved hearts of space
Sounds like a great radio show. Kitaro sometimes got a play during Australia's ABC radio program Dreamtime back in the 80s. What country are you in, and what radio station was Hearts of Space played on?
@@raksh9 HOS was on a local public radio station, it's gone now...it was on Sunday nights from 9pm- 11pm..I'm in USA in the state of Michigan.
@@floydjerls2358 Thank you. I'll look into the show, maybe there's some information about it online, perhaps some playlists. Edit: It's still going! v4.hos.com/home
When I was stationed in Japan. While serving in the Marines. I was introduced to this as I sat at a small local bar outside base. Have enjoyed many of Kitaro's music.
Very beautiful tunes Kitaro has given to us.
We heard the first track on the radio then went downtown and bought the 4 album set. Magnificent.
I saw the documentary series Silk Road back in the early 80's and more recently a few years ago. Kitaro is my first and last hero of oriental music. No-one can outshine his brilliance, ever.
How can I download this mp3............. please help me............

Enter this in RUclips search: THE SILK ROAD I - 1 of 12 - The Glories of Ancient Chang'an

One of the best ,tranquil songs after a long day or a 12.5 hr flight. I heard Kitaro many yrs back on a JAL flight from SFO-TOYKO. Been listening ever since, it gets me grounded in a good way. Cheers folks☯
First time I listened to this on TV as a kid in the 80s. The Silk Road was a superb NHK Japan production.

Made me remember when he first came to Malaysia more than twenty years ago. He played this same song. What a nostalgic feeling !
I wonder how many dynasties rose and fell along the Silk Road in ancient times .
This masterpiece Kitaro plays with exquisite skill and magnificent technique is a inspirational Requiem for the people who rose and fell and perished on the Silk Road
From
Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
i believe my all time fave by kitaro is 15:30...amazingly slow, crisp flute, background piano and string. what an arranger.
i listen to silk road at night ...and i pick others to sleep with it really helps me relax...
this song reminds me when i was 12,, so peaceful,, where there was no tv, no electric instalation,, there was only one radio that powered by battery..i often listened this music right before 6 am, where this music played by the radio operator, thank you kitaro,
i first heard this as a child in Hong Kong. TVB was showing the silk road series and it opened up a new world for me. many years later as a young adult i wandered around the world, often singing these tunes during my travels. thank you Kitaro! thank you NHK! and yes, thank you TVB and the narrator 鍾景輝!

This album "SILK ROAD" was my introduction to Kitaro back in the 90s and his music has been a part of my life ever since. My spirit sores on the wings of his music. Heavenly. 😊
I discovered Kitaro's music on a lonely stretch of highway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge one stormy night. Probably about 30 years ago.I have not stopped listening since.
Kind of similar, a fried of mine who lived in the French Quarter introduced me to Kitaro in the 80s.
40+ years,... smoking maruana,.......listen to kitaro,.... great trip,.....
For me the best Album of Kitaro, have the Original in Vinyl. 👍👏
I bought this album in Japan in 1981, and several others in the next few years. Wonderful music. I still have the vinyl albums somewhere!
This was my brother's favorite music. He passed away on Sunday. Sept 26th Rip bro. You're already missed so much
sayup terasa pernah terdengar di iringan sandiwara radio brama kumbara waktu kecil dulu❤️❤️
1987, working on my PhD at NTSU, Musical Starstreams on 107.5 The Oasis opened up a whole new world of music...I've never left it.
I discovered Kitaro in California in the 80's. At this point I've lost count of the CDs I have and the iPod classics I own have all his albums I own and I listen for days without listening to the same album. His work is amazing and puts me in a peaceful place except heaven and earth. When I listen to it I can replay the movie. It keeps me enthralled though the whole album.
For the first time i heard this song, goes back to over +30 years ago. it was the on the TV series named Silk Road (Marco Polo). that took me to another world. I remember my small town would get empty anytime they played that series. we all waited to sit right by tv and watch Silk Road and listen to KITARO. since then I have been listening it every single time I get. and i will never quit listening to it
I just began listening to this for the first time in decades - I used to love it - and I literally got spine tingles.
Theme From Silk Road ` making Love while this plays is a transformation into another dimension
Was first introduced to Kitaro’s music in modern dance class in college in the 1980’s, been hooked ever since.
I have been listening to kitaro since I was a baby back in the 80s. Still actively listening. Thank you for everything Kitaro.
I first heard it when I was a kid. It was the soundtrack of the Silk Road documentary. He is still greatly admired and missed. 😀👍
Who is greatly missed? Kitaro still makes music to this day :)
I first saw Kitaro in concert in Mesa Arizona, the year Silk Road came out. It was a wonderful amazing experience.
The first time I was listening to this album when I were a kid. My dad he used to play it on the CD player, me and him really enjoy it.
I have listened to Kitaro for over 20 years already and still love it.
Every time I listen to the Silk Road sound, it takes me back to my teenage life and makes me nostalgic.
A music from heaven....love this too much.thank you very much.yrs👏👏
I listened it when I was 21 years old... 27 years ago..
Love Kitaro! His music transports my soul to a magic place of love and spirituality. It's been part of my life for a very long time.
My dad had this CD and I took it to use as D&D music in the early 90s since there wasn't any music. It was awesome!!
Lagu2nya Kitaro memang sangat menghipnotis..😍
Betul, aku setuju !
I have been a fan since 1990. Kitaro's concert from Mexico is Awesome btw !!
My late mother was listening to this famous song with tears in her eyes .
My supervisor introduced me to Kitaro back in the 80 ...I was car test driver working 3rd shift and this music helped driving all night ...some place I have I have the recordings on Cassettes...dont know if they play anymore ...Thankyou for loading these !!! 😁
I have loved this for some time now. I had the cassette, which was stolen. I had the privilege to seeing this performance live in the late 80's I believe. When I came across it here, it made my day even better.
HAVE TO SAY .. KITARO, I LOVED AND STILL LOVE YOUR 80S MUSIC THE BEST AND STILL PLAY IT AFTER 30 YEARS GO BACK TO THE 80S SILK ROAD AQUA TAO...
Rosa e Kitaro me ajudaram muito. Obrigado, Rosa Maria. Onde você estiver, que esteja feliz.

Amazing, i had heard this song so many times and didn't have a clue what the name or who the composer was. So this is what Wabot 2 played back in the day. Man, 80s were the best, such high hopes and nothing seemed impossible :)
Absolutely fantastic relaxing music thank you Kitaro
Increible tan hermosas melodias...gracias maestro kitaro ...saludos desde chile.
