The meaning of the title is not that students shouldnt stay in school, but that certain topics shouldnt stay in school. It was never a reference to the students, but its used as a shock title.
Yeah, I don't see how these adults didn't realize that but I did and all my friends did even though were all around 12. Even my friend who doesn't understand anything and has to get it explained to her what simple ass shit means understood.
The title is used to clever effect to stir emotions into the viewer. Like if someone dresses as a zombie and you tell them their costume is terrible meaning cool but sounding like you were saying the costume itself is badly made.
@@deletedchannel7288 First of all, exactly. If people don't have parents to teach them math, English etc. Neighter will they have parents to teach them about taxes and bills. Also, dude, no one here is talking about little kids that are still learning letters or how to do simple math, it's more directed to college students.
@@deletedchannel7288 "cause instead of learning letters they should be learning about bills and taxes" you said something along the lines of that, can't directly quote you since you deleted your comment. Anyway, that sentance sounded like it was directed towards kids who are still learning the alphabet. (basically little kids)
"Do they even know cursive?" Mostly not. Its not because we were never taught, its just that we learnt it at such a young age and have never had to use it that the vast majority of us have forgot. I specifically remember learning cursive in 1st grade while never once having been forced to use it. We have forgotten it because it is not relevant. Just like we forget most of what we learn at school after we take the test about it.
Thank you for watching it means alot and I'm just trying to open people's eyes abit so they can realize how school in a way is screwing us for the future
Exactly like we are not oblivious and stupid she is one of those mothers who would lie to there kid when they are sad and say that they are fine and it is abuse to show any emotions other than bubbly happy mom who is never sad
Some ppl in the Goverment: hey we should make a place called school where kids learn Some other ppl in the goverment: yeah let's make them learn first aid and basic financial advise Some ppl in the goverment: NO THEY MUST LEARN USELESS CALCULUS AND HOW TREES GROW!!!!11!!!!1!
@@charlesdarwin1564 but the thing is we're still forced to learn it anyway afterwards they don't give us the choice, the only other choice is to drop out apparently thanks school
The title don't stay in school grabs the viewers attention, and isn't meant to be taken in a literal sense. The point of "don't stay in school" is don't stand by and let schooling continue to be exactly the same as it's been for decades upon decades. As a high schooler in 2017, I shouldn't be learning the same way my dad learned in 1977.
What parents should teach: "Don't get into a van with some stranger." What parents do teach: "You failed your writing test? Go and study more." Or: "You are annoying me go play your Call of Duties."
Rsave7Corp Natural selection?? That's no longer a thing for humans. If it was we wouldn't have a population of over 7 billion. It would be more like 5 billion.
The girl with the black and green jacket said they don't think about that till they are grown up and look back but I'm in 7th grade and I've been questioning why they don't teach us that stuff, I don't think I've learnt anything about what he said in the video. I agree with boyinaband.
Animation and actually most art today is based on computers, which need mathmatics and science, so no, focusing more on art would NOT be more likely to get you a job. You still need a base. And I didn't change my career choice until my mid 20's and found my true passion in history and religion over the dramatic arts.
Mickan Alibangbang where I live, they don't teach cursive anymore. In third grade I had a cursive writing book, we got to letter O, and that was it. We never used cursive again.
My school district stopped teaching cursive about ten years ago. My third grade class was the last year they taught it. I barely remember how to write anything in cursive other than my name because we didn't use it after we learned.
+Ressurrectify Yea, when the woman in the brown shirt gave her thoughts on the dont stay in school I was like what... did you not hear what he said.. he wants kids to stay in school just not the subjects
Well, all teachers are public union workers. They are not rewarded for doing any better in their job, so why bother doing better? I think the best way of teaching your child is let them be in school for elementary and maybe middle school. Let them learn child interaction, basic math, how to read and write, being around all these kids will also help their immunity systems, too. Then when junior high hits, pull them! Switch up from public schools to home schooling. You'll have mandatory curriculum the kids still have to learn by government demand, but parents can finally teach their kids what's important in life for their future. It gets them out at an age the kids start being cruel to each other. I feel that's the best case scenario.
"Your parents should teach you these" Don't forget the single fathers and mothers that work 2 jobs and 10 hours a day just to put food on the table for their kids
Don’t forget that Parents Pay you to teach, they shouldn’t be required to do that when it’s your Job and Some parents don’t have the time or are just dead
Caped Baldy Yo, I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I just don't like her saying that youth aren't capable of knowing what's best for themselves or not capable of knowing what they need to learn to do what they want in life. Obviously not everyone is, but the majority of teenagers should know what they want by sophomore year (10th grade). And anyone who hasn't put time into thinking about something so important obviously ISN'T mature enough to make decisions so drastic for themselves. I'm sixteen years old, still pretty young, but I've known what I've wanted to do since I was nine years old. I know that I'm not going to need half the classes I am being forced to take in order to be prepared to follow the career I want. In no way was I insinuating that they were saying we're stupid (they implied we are ignorant, not illiterate), I just don't like adults thinking we aren't capable of making decisions for our future. Thank you.
If you watch more of what she was saying, you will see that she was saying that they are capable, so she wasn't underestimating, she was, in fact, complementing our youth.
“How can we teach this when teachers are required to teach other things” I’m no genius but CHANGING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM LIKE THE SONG SUGGESTS is the answer..
Teacher: Sleep early Teacher: Here’s 3 hours of Homework, being done first doesn't give you a prize Teacher: Be on time and eat breakfast *School starts earlier than a human can even Think about opening their eyes* Teacher: kids need 10-12 hours of sleep Me: MAKE UP YOUR MIND
Then I guess I’m lucky for this year I am still in the afternoon class but next year its time to suffer like you, cause in my country we have afternoon and morning classes so yeah
“Your parents should teach you these” -People with dead parents -People with abusive parents -People with parents who left them -People with parents who weren’t taught these things in SCHOOL or by their parents In life some parents are in situations where they can’t or aren’t able to be responsible for teaching you what you need in life, school should be something that can inform and teach people how to do necessary things that are important to the wellbeing of students in their future, otherwise what’s the point of school if not to prepare you for your future? Where’s the line between what should be taught by school and by parents/guardians?
Or parents that pay attention to your siblings bc you're the "normal one" I'm the least normal and most challegend. I didn't have the ability to have my parents teach me these things. Now one parent is dead and the other is always too busy for me.
Kids know exactly what they should be learning in school. High school was the biggest waste of my entire life, I learned all the basic things I needed to know in middle and elementary school. High school doesn't prepare you on how to live on your own, period.
TheLaughinAssassin in my middle school we had this clan which was leadership and they devoted they’re time telling use living skills like paying taxes and many more.
TheLaughinAssassin that's true I just graduated not long ago and I learned absolutely nothing that I will really need except that my anxiety was through the fucking roof
The ambiguity of the title was designed to get it trending. Clever marketing on Boyinaband's part, but these are TEACHERS! And they can't even critically distinguish the ambiguity of the statement?! I think Critical Thinking should be taught in schools FFS. That legitimately does seem to have a real world application!
NEMusic I agree with what you’re saying but I would argue that is why we have English classes, analyze literature, and even math. It isn’t about having to know geometry or the themes in Shakespeare, but is mental exercise which helps us become stronger critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Cottontail 246 Good suggestion... one way to help stop bullying... But it seems like they don't want to stop the bullying the way they let it continue.
It's not the teachers! They are dictated what to teach based on the federal department of education. It's the government dictating to them what needs to be taught. This is why our schools should NOT be dictated what to be taught on a federal level. We need to get rid of the department of education, and bring it back to a level parents can tell the schools whats to be taught. You don't have to be a genius to teach people! This is why until our schools can change for the better, it's so much better to home school your kids. Parents can do so much better to educate your kids than school can.
@@clarity2199 they meant how most of the teachers in the video misunderstood the "don't stay in school" statement and just assumed it meant people should drop out, which was not the case.
Most of them got the message and agreed that certain topics should be added to the curriculum and others should be taken out due to irrelevancy in the real world. The only thing they didn’t agree with was the title.
I agree with you to a certain point. As is stated 9:35 right here... We spend majority of our time studying in school... then we have to do more work once we get home and often after that free time is the next thing in line... Parents have very little actual time to teach you stuff... especially if you take into account possible late sifts. Yes it is the parents' job to teach about life and all but schools should also be a part of this. Then again where I come from we have shorter school days, less homework, less tests and teachers need to be VERY well educated...
8:17 "I think school is a beautiful place where people learn social skills" Ah yes, that explains why I have social anxiety and horrid social skills to the point where no one wants to talk to me.
Yup, that also explains why I became anti-social and very indifferent. The school system showed me how shallow most relationships are and how most of those you interact with are really just passerbys in the course of your life. At this point of my life, the only things that matters is myself, my family, and those that actually stayed with me and cared for me.
The guy isn't saying "don't stay in school" as in advocating for student drop out. He's saying that curriculum that is not adaptable to students lives shouldn't stay in school.
Well yes of course he does, but did you realise that the first time you heard the song? I sure didn't and was like "that song is awsome, but the moral is bullshit" and after some more listening i heard the "i insist those pointless things (don't stay in school)"
No, the title "Don't stay in school" means that you shouldn't be forced to learn things that wouldn't help you in the future and that it shouldn't stay in school
@@NatPatent both of these are correct, he chose the name because it's very eye-catching especially for younger audiences, aka people currently in school. But obviously it's a play on words and he's basically saying that all the useless and pointless lessons in school shouldn't stay.
the woman who talks about not being able to incorporate it into the California requirements annoys me, that is the exact reason he is saying this, that is the root of the problem, the original school system needs changing, also to her saying that they would have trouble being able to see from a bigger perspective, if we taught them differently they might be able to see from a bigger perspective,
Yeah bro except they might get FIRED if they change the curriculum. It's not about the poor teachers trying to do something new it's about the system not permitting them to.
Completely agree, her comment about kids not knowing they need to learn that and so therefore why teach them is so stupid- kids don't know anything they learn in school, it's the responsibility of the people who make curriculum decisions to recognize what kids need to know to set them up, and then give them the information that they need
"Do kids in school, are they able to judge what they should be learning?" Unlike what you may think, we also have common sense. Common sense tells me that learning art history as someone who is interested in medicine and math is a waste.
Also mandatory classes are garbage. Like, maths? I don't care. I'm never going to use any of this, yet I _have_ to learn it. How about I take the two classes I'd have to choose between or put in extra hours for instead? If I'm interested I'm more likely to do something with it. Also language. Your own language should be mandatory, but another language definitely should not. Where I live, Dutch and English are mandatory for everyone and I think that's fair enough. But then at some levels you need a _third_ language. French and German are also mandatory in the first 3 years, after that you can drop them. Unless you want to go with the harder levels. Then you have to continue with at least 1 of the 2, which is bullshit. I'm not going to learn a language from school anyways. It's possible to learn a language in months, yet I've been learning for _3 and a half years_ now and I can't do anything beyond basic sentences. That's also bullshit. Not only do you learn worthless subjects, the time spent on those subjects ISN'T EVEN SPENT _WELL, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!_
Teachers teach us everything for a wider choice of a career path but Dave is right. We should be learning what will be happening constantly in our adult lives. I think he didn’t have a good choice of words when he said don’t stay in school. School educates us on our future jobs but if we ever get the chance to learn what he is talking about in school. I think we’ll be able to go through our adulthood a bit better than how the current adult generation is holding on. If we learn those things it will be more useful since we’ll be doing it everyday. (This is just my opinion so please don’t attack me.) (I also agree that the education system is very flawed in different ways)
Exactly, we do have electives which are the most useful part of school and the only part I do good in (because I actually care) yet they are the least prioritized and if it’s a short day it’s only the core (useless) classes, it’s complete bullshit
"do kids even know how to write cursive.." wow.. just wow. kids are smarter than you think, and its stupid how people treat kids different just because their younger and don't "know" as much. adults cuss all the time and tell their kids its bad, and they shouldn't cuss. really? their people too, and ur telling them not to do something, though u do it as well....just wow.
We were taught cursive for a week in 2nd grade and unless you learned it outside of school, mostly everyone at my school doesn't know how to write cursive besides their signature including me.
Cursive writing was dropped out of the curriculum in almost all public schools in the US (I don't believe private schools really teach it either), so that teacher was just referencing that fact. Don't need to be such a jerk about it.
I think Don't Stay in School could have 2 meanings. He could obviously be saying to drop out, but in the context of the video I think it means that he doesn't want the pointless stuff to stay in school.
They taught cursive at my school but I sucked at it Why is writing in a certain way so important? Surely if I can write at all, that’s fine, plus cursive is harder to read. Also we have computers and writing stuff by hand is becoming more and more rare
This is so funny cause in Romania cursive is the only way you learn to write. Like I didn't know how else to write. When I wrote the letters like on most keyboards my teachers where mad af and asked me why and i said I just changed the font no big deal.
Plus, how can parents thoroughly teach you well when THEY weren’t even educated? What about kids with parents who had little to no education? What about kids with parents who don’t have the time?
I know right, isn’t teaching the school’s jobs. We are paying for a horrible edu system and yet they want parents to have the responsibility to teach their children the most useful stuff
@Britta BB yeah but the sad thing is they dont teach it. im living in singapore and apparently somehow they have the title of "one of the best education" in the world. but, they dont even teach important stuff and only teach the generic stuff. considering that, i cant imagine how bad the education is in the rest of the world when mine is already horrendous
Taco Loco give it a shot. Seriously. Every teacher enters thinking "I'm gonna be a hit with the kids, liked, kind, and friendly". Not how it works. I've done work experience in Maths Tutoring, its not that simple.
That's not how it works. Just because your a teacher doesn't mean you get make up your own curriculum. You have to follow one that is given to you. Your a teacher, you teach the curriculum, you don't make it.
TurtleNinja157 I know that but forcing your kids to do the shittiest boring projects that we've been doing since grade 2 is optional especially when your whole class doesn't want to be there the least you can do is try to appeal to your audience. It's like giving a presentation if your presentation is boring and appears to be useless to your audience no one's gonna wanna be there to listen to it and the fact your audience is forced to be there without a real explanation only makes the situation worse.
I'd say by our teen years, we do know and understand. Depending on the maturity level of younger kids(elementary and middle school) they understand too. I remember when I was six, I saw my grandfather treat some patients. I really liked that he was able to help people like that, I decided that day that I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. Now I'm in High School and I still want to do that.
THANK YOU, my father is always at work. And my mom has a so much on her plate sometimes she isn't even able to cook food. I'm accepting of this, I figured out how to take care of my siblings and myself. And not only that they also do this during a pandemic trying to keep us safe, they don't have time to teach me what my teacher should have.
Wtf...you teachers are stuck on how the title was inappropriate...just listen to the lyrics, analyze the content and then state your opinions and kindly use your gray matter to do so...
The title literally meant: this old method of teaching shouldn’t stay in school’ not kids should drop out. These teachers should’ve had that explained prior!!!
the most hilarious thing is "dont stay in school" doesnt mean "students, dont stay in school". The last line of the song says "I insist these pointless things dont stay in school"
Jordan's Life, Yeah it's so annoying when Teachers tell you "No your smart." But in there head (You know what there thinking.)they under estimate them like really teachers where is your logic!!!
Max Fortune. Teachers feel like they are smarter than most people because, they have a degree in learning. However they underestimate the fact that children will grow up to be more than them. Some may not but, others will. I believe it's quiet humorous that a person who is teaching children "logic" is dumber than the actual child.
Bullets&Melee - I hate life. That's because, shes a grown up and a teacher which makes her smarter because, she has a degree in education. All teachers are like that some just don't show it.
3:31 shut up, yes. I know what I want from life and I'm only 12. I could see myself having my own buisness, being a lawyer, being a physcratist and more. I am proberly the only kid in my year who cares as much about there future. I'm allways saving money, just so I'm allways finaccially stable. I know what I want from life and school is stopping me from starting now. It takes like 10+ years of studying to be a physicrist/lawer, why not start now? Thats why he says introuduce the subjects, if you can read. But why shuld I be forced to learn art when I'm no good and its not going to make me any money? Yes, I am 12 and your thinking, 'oh you wanna stop school just because you don't like some subjects'. 1st of all, no, I like art just no good and I'd rather put my time/energy in somthing I enjoy 2nd, I love science, history, drama, music and many oother subjects and want to devolp in them but others, it would be better if I dropped. Schools should take a step in Finlands direction, just skip to the end of the link I'm about to place (or watch it all, I can't tell you what to do) and he excplains it: ruclips.net/video/uLSv17iE_4Q/видео.html I know it maybe difficult and take alot of arguements but if Finland did it, the rest of the world can. We should be taught how to pay taxes, morgages, buying houses, starting buisnesses, being moneywise. Most of thoughs my dad taught me from a young age. He tells me about history, science and thats why I like them so much, we played games like shopping and focoused on the spending money bit, how to fix small things around the house so I don't waste money employing people for £100s. 8:21 second time coming at you, your obviously stupid. A 'beautifull place' that teaches 'sociall skills'. More like to 'ignore bullies and commit suicide. I genrally don't know suicidal death rates in America and I'm too afraid to check as I believe its going to be high, proberly the highst in the world. People learn social skills other gaming, the internet, ect not school! Well, not alot of them anyway. In Year one, my friend had social anxeity (IDK if she still has, we don't really talk about that) and I was super shy! So obviously not! How is it beautifful? Alot of schools are dark grey, blue colours, not motivating colours is, it. So how is that beautiful? You were proberly that snichy teachers pet that no one could touch cause you had perfect grades and the teachers protection. And you wonder why you were socially out cassed. You couldn't just stick up for the class could you, kept your mouth shut and not tell the teacher about the caous happened when they were gone or about they needed to assin homework. Since you were so smart and protected, you don't/didn't understand how people struggle with the homework and how they had no free time and just want to have fun everyone once in a while and get some sleep. Now you think I'm a mess around. No, I'm just not a snich. I don't really hang with the 'bad crowd' but I have some friends from there that are decent people and do hang sometimes. I'm like average smart with kinda trust issues and I have alot of anxiety about school so I do get school struggles. Even though I'm only a year 8, I spend hours on my studying/homework, I get up hella early just for the worry of being late/oversleeping and arrive at school 30 mins early! You litterally said math+English but from primary school, do we really need to learn Shakespeares sonnets and meories Frankenstine which we will end up forgetting and how will it help us. And when in everyday would you use allgebra? You wouldn't. It could be a usefull skill to know the bassics somehow but not so deep into it. 10:41 wow, 3rd time, never have I put this much time and effort in to iddiots but, I am pasionate about this topic. What about parents who don't care/take care of there kids properly, abbondened there kids, died? Yes, parents should teach some but we spend more time at school, homeworking/studying to have the time to properly sit down and talk for the long enough time needed. And they have jobs/lives too and they want to go out from time to time, like us! Okay, you saved yourself at the end but I still don't like you. You proberly pretend to care about the students/ don't care as much as you should/ don't really care and are too igronant to realise the school system is wrong cause you worked your life to be a teacher and want to believe the system is fine and okay but its not! 11:09, damn queen, you sure you a teacher? You look like a student (not as offence/dissrispect, you seem/look young and accept the world, well school system, is rubbish unlike older teachers who have put there full trust into it might not). Okay so your a student, but you got it right and your showing up this school! 11:53, its good, its not, its okay, 3 options pick one. You just said one problem, essentially saying the school isn't bad but everything needs improvement though a student littrally showed the school up your trying to protect. 12:17, I litterally love you. XO 12:57, Queen, go off, I also believe that as well as chosing what we want to learn. Maths, thoes subjects should be the only compoulsery ones, not even English! (I know, I keep going on about this Queen but also, the other teachers, well done for thinking straight!) I know it would be hard to fit in life skill stuff but why not get in people for assemblys who maybe dropped out of school and sucseeded or who stayed in and succeeded or who failed so we know what not to do or parents to teach on how to parent. It maybe hard to get a CEO in every week but maybe once a month and I'm sure, if they had time, they'd be happy to do it. There always doing tallks for the public and would deffintly be happy to inspire kids. I know alot who have inspired me. Look, I know how I'm saying that we don't need to learn so much about some subjects unless, you see yourself in a future in it/like it. The thing is, if you want to be a mathmitician, you'd want to put all your effort in maths, not drama. The point is, we need to decide what could make us money, what we like... Not be forced to split our efforts into stuff we don't like/ aren't good at. We should only put time in what we need to. Now, Karens, your going to @ me with 'well you obviously need to stay in school, look at thoes spelling mistakes'. 1st of all, you don't know if English is my first language, 2nd of all, it is, 3rd of all, I've come a long way with spelling and improvd alot from what it used to be, 4th, I am typping this fast as I have alot to say, 5th, I don't know the keyboard by heart properly so I still have to look at it when I'm typping and not looking at the screen for mistakes. Essiantlly, my writing on paper is 1000X better. Edit: I allways wondered how people wrote littral books in comments but I littrally just did! Can you tell my passion? I littrally spent 30 mins on this!
Well done chap, I come from Ghana in Africa, a country where students are whipped like animals when they are not able to solve a complex Math Equation in 7 secs in their head! So yes I completely agree with u guys but lol we're on another level. Btw: I'm a straight A student who's won 3 Academic Competitions for my school and I still have some marks on my body from this mode of punishment, so if that's my case imagine what is done to the "Dumb kids" and I'm 15
@@jeffj2247 I'm so sorry that still happens. That form of punishment is discusting especially since the problem is so difficult. I find people who beat kids just lazy. They can't be bothered to wait, understand or even change the kids attitude and behaviour if it's bad for the correct reasons. What's the point in a kid acting good if there only doing it not to get in trouble. Congratulations on your success though and good luck. I hope you go far in life :)
You are pretty mature for being a 12 year old. We all have the same opinion about teachers and the school system, especially online class now. The fact that using your camera is apart of your grade is honestly stupid.
13 and I agree and people our age do also think far ahead because it's important for our lives, I even think about my future and what I'll do or where I want to live or what I want to teach my future children ( if I ever have children ;-;) or how I want to spend my money, how I want to save and even what type of friends I'd want to keep on my journey with life.
They're required to teach a certain curriculum in a certain amount of time which leave little to trya sn teach this stuff and if they do less of the curriculum they will be payed less and we all know most people will take money over stuff
"do kids even know how to write cursive" you taught me in 4th grade..I forgot the next year. But thank God I have memorized the first 70 digits of pi π
Oh my gosh. Smh.. 🤦🏽♀️the title doesn't exactly mean don't stay in school!! Listen to what he says. Those topics that are being taught should not stay in school. We never actually use them and actually I never gain social skills. I'm the most quiet person you'll never meet! I never talk and you'll never hear my voice unless I have my hand raised.
If anything, school makes people less social. Us kids are forced to be quiet all day and only have a couple of breaks from silence a day. If that's teaching a social skill then lord help us with anything else
Rattiom It's a catchy title, he's not saying don't stay in school. However, there is nothing wrong with not staying in school, if you have a better plan. There are many options in life, and the schools are not teaching kids all of them. I quit school, and if I had the chance to go back, I would quit sooner because it was a huge waste of time for me. I still own my own business, which anyone can do without school.
3:35 Bitch, I’m in high school and I know that half of the material we learn in pointless. I’m not the only one. There are plenty of fellow students who feel the same way.
I'm in 4TH GRADE and I know that what I'm learning (except for Arithmetic! not algebra, and reading) is pointless. I'm 10! DON't UNDERESTIMATE US! And we don't need MENTAL MATH! We have phones! You should change the curriculum when we get new things.
Exactly, I'm in middle school and the stuff we are learning is pretty much stuff I already am familiar with even tho I never learned it, it's just straight up stupid to learn or do pointless stuff maybe they should be see our perspective and see why we hate school
We really don't need school with the tecnology we have right now. But are parerents don't really give a damn well at lease my parents they just want a way to get away from their kids. I tell my mom what a shitty school I have. We learn how to about mixed numbers bitch teach us something that will accually help us. Us kids sit in a room listening to an lady or man telling you to be quiet and do yout work and study for shit you may forget tomorrow. Not gonna lie I never did my homework. Now it seems that school is about passing and not learning. Right now schools send bad messages to us kids. As if we're not in control of our on lives.
Comet, you damn well need school. But sure some parts of school are totally useless but on the other hand school teaches you reading/writing the basics of math (common core is stupid), basics of science: how energy works etc, and many great electives, for example I’m taking a marketing class: learning on how to be a entrepreneur. All and all I can tell you that you very much need school and you really should watch your language (I can tell just by your writing your in elementary school)(I’m in high school)
Adults really underestimate children. We know what's good for us. It's our lives. We know more about us than any adult. I don't know why adults don't understand that. Also, the message of "Don't Stay in School" is referring to the subjects. Not the children
The thing about adults underestimating children is that a lot of, if not a majority of adults don't really consider children to be actual people who have their own desires, passions, hopes, and goals. They might say that they consider children to be people yet they still put them in this separate category where many aspects of their lives need to be dictated and planned without any input or decisions made by the child. Children don't need to be forced into growing and learning and becoming more of an adult. They just need people who care about what they want and will help them achieve the things in their lives that are important to them.
Ehhh, don’t know about that one. I’d say that we should have a lot more weight in our decisions but no most children don’t know what’s best for them. The frontal lobe hasn’t even been fully developed yet.
However if children are told to do everything without having any weight in the decision then they usually grow up thinking they don’t have a say, and don’t usually think for themselves. I’ve had that problem for a while.
A thing about the title, (if you watch his Dave's other videos you would know this) he chose the title because he thought more people would watch a video with the title "Don't Stay in School" instead of "We Should Change the School System Because it Desn't Teach You Important Things You Need to Know".
I think kids are smarter than people give them credit for. They actually learn faster and better than adults can, so if they have to wait longer to learn about the things you care about, then it will actually be harder for them to learn them.
tanzanite students might be only 20% of the worlds population. Nevertheless, they are 100% of our future because students can think not just outside the box. But, they can look in between and look of what it’s made of. Adults don’t understand how powerful we are. Did you know that someone the greatest creators created huge company’s making tons of money, were drop outs? One of the people who dropped out made Apply.
"Do kids know how to write cursive (laughs)" As a kid ,who struggles to write legibly with enough speed, that has constantly been pushed back for not being able to write cursive yes some kids can write cursive
SonicWaver no it was a joke because in highschool my chemistry teacher made us memorize the whole periodic table for multiple tests. Was pointless because it’ll never help me in my life, I don’t really like science
I was but I forget just like alot the reason I can write in it is- I'm self taught most of the things I've been told in school to actually learn them I'm. Self taught
I don’t know how old you are, but when I was in elementary school they taught cursive until about the 4th grade. And by that time electronics were becoming more and more “normal” for lack of better words. I am 19 btw.
Group projects are supposed to help the kids form their social skills by pairing them up with random strangers that may or may not contribute to the project. What do they think that we do during recess? Stand 10 ft apart avoiding any kind of interaction? Kids don't need help on social skills. And those who do, definitely don't get it from group projects.
What I find weird about these reactions is that it seems all that some of these teachers can say to this is "well, kids can't really see what's important in life". Wtf? To me, it's pretty obvious what needs to be taught more. I'm expected to move out in the next year and I honestly feel I have no life skills like paying taxes, how taxes and the economy even work, or how to buy/rent a house. My parents aren't teaching me bc they don't care about me anyway. It's not the 70's anymore, the world is different.
I don't care tbh And I think that the teachers should be understanding that it's important for the kids to learn, because the kids don't understand why maths is important, or history, or anything else they're learning.
Hypperr Merc Exactly, no one should be forced against their will to learn things they hate for 13 years of their life. If anyone wants to learn something, it's right here on the internet for free.
I don't care tbh but most of the world will have access to stable internet in less than 100 years. So the school system needs to adapt to the fact that information is much more readily available
Blaze Uchiha They would take this channel down cause of copyright issues. Basically they have been take down react channels cause of the word "reactions" in there videos.
I wrote a poem/rap thats inspired by this. We spend hours upon hours slaving over textbooks, am I the only one that's ever thought that we should take a closer look? So focused on assignments, page after page, Can somebody tell me why I'm losing hope at such a young age? I want to travel and explore, not be stuck in a class While I stare at the clock, watching time pass. When I speak up that I'm worried about paying bills and the tax, they tell me "Oh it's fine, don't worry, just relax!" The mitochondria is the power house of the cell, Apparently that's all I've ever needed to know to excel. But what about topics like depression and anxiety? Where's the education on how to function in society? For all the kids stressing out and having panic attacks, You can't just tell them they're okay, it's not as simple as that. Kids used to be completely obsessed with their grades, but now they also seem to worry about how much that they weigh. Should I focus on this test or how this dress makes me look thin? Has this seriously become to be the world that we live in? I know I'm not the only one to notice there's a problem, So why isn't anyone doing anything to solve them? But I mean sure, every single time that I'm asked I can name every president that we've ever had. But am I supposed to care? Because in all honesty, I'd rather be taught about self worth and equality. I don't see how anyone could think this is all okay, I keep waiting for change but all I can do is pray. That the future will get better, but really, does it ever? I guess we'll have to wait and see, but theres no garuntee. Thanks for reading 💕 Edit: Thanks for the likes and compliments too!! I did write this myself, and I'm really hoping no one steals it. If anyone wants to rap it, please give me credit if you do.
Nowhere in the song he addressed teachers. I'm 100% sure he was talking to the government and those who decide what it's taught in school. NO ONE, absolutely no one thinks teachers randomly decide what to teach in classes.
@@Appestaart actually I don’t think I will take advice from someone called “Applejuice Is the best”I didn’t even do anything to you and you’re offended, maybe you should focus on your people skills.
By the title "Don't Stay in School", he's referring to all the pointless and irrelevant topics he thinks should be replaced by more practical subjects such as the aforementioned. He littorally clears that up with the last few words of the song, saying, "And insist these pointless things don't stay in school!" All you had to do was listen. SERIOUSLY.
HenryHusky That's true, he did not say don't stay in school...but there's nothing wrong with not staying in school, if you have a better plan. Everyone's like oh no not that, lol. There are many options in life, the schools are not teaching you most of them. What they do teach is to stay in school, or you will be a homeless drug-addicted McDonald's worker... LOL that's a lie. I quit school, with no regrets. I was still able to own my own business, anyone can. With or without college, and with or without high school.
Look, I'm 15 and I totally agree with the song, we are missing out on vital info about jobs, income and life choices, yet we are made to learn algebra like it's gonna tell us the speed on road signs, we have technology now, we need to update education, it's been the same for hundreds of years, are you preparing us for the future, or the past....
"Do most kids have the ability to see the world in a wider view to know what they should be learning?" I can ASSURE you, that most kids in my class know what is going on in the world and completely understands these topics.
Do you mean, like, classrooms with no roofs? Because that's not a revolution, that's a downgrade. People don't have houses without roofs, and if they did it wouldn't be a 'revolution'. Not to mention that would barely effect academics. If you just mean open hallways, then yeah I'm all for that.
JonGabriel03 You missed the point!! Outdoor schools is totally not the same as set in a desk for hours learning about leaves in a book but learning about the real leaf outdoors!!

The title don't stay in school grabs the viewers attention, and isn't meant to be taken in a literal sense. The point of "don't stay in school" is don't stand by and let schooling continue to be exactly the same as it's been for decades upon decades. Well the title actually means he's addressing the subjects that shouldn't stay in school if I can remember.

Yo, I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I just don't like her saying that youth aren't capable of knowing what's best for themselves or not capable of knowing what they need to learn to do what they want in life.

-People with parents who left them
-People with parents who weren’t taught these things in SCHOOL or by their parents
In life some parents are in situations where they can’t or aren’t able to be responsible for teaching you what you need in life, school should be something that can inform and teach people how to do necessary things that are important to the wellbeing of students in their future, otherwise what’s the point of school if not to prepare you for your future? Where’s the line between what should be taught by school and by parents/guardians?

He meant that certain TOPICS shouldn’t stay in school. For teachers, they sure could be smarter.

"Do kids in school, are they able to judge what they should be learning?"
Unlike what you may think, we also have common sense.
Common sense tells me that learning art history as someone who is interested in medicine and math is a waste.
Or learning chemistry & biology when you go to a music or sports school .
(This is just my opinion so please don’t attack me.)
(I also agree that the education system is very flawed in different ways)
Exactly, we do have electives which are the most useful part of school and the only part I do good in (because I actually care) yet they are the least prioritized and if it’s a short day it’s only the core (useless) classes, it’s complete bullshit

The title Don't Stay in School refers to the impractical subjects he is talking about, not the students. It's the last line
You hit the nail on the head
TFW children understood that better than teachers
Also the title `there are problems with the school system or curriculum` would attract many people though
Parents are the biggest hypocrites
We were taught cursive for a week in 2nd grade and unless you learned it outside of school, mostly everyone at my school doesn't know how to write cursive besides their signature including me.
I think She said that because they don't teach cursive in most public schools
I could write cursive before normal handwriting... that teacher is insane.
Cursive writing was dropped out of the curriculum in almost all public schools in the US (I don't believe private schools really teach it either), so that teacher was just referencing that fact. Don't need to be such a jerk about it.
"Don't stay in school" was saying that these topics shouldn't stay In school not that people shouldn't stay in school
ikr. its like the teachers werent even listening, the last line was literally "and insist these pointless things dont stay in school"
I can't blame them, I didn't understand the context the first time I listened to the song either
zach Horvitz yeah, he literally addressed that at the end
Yea, they didn't get the context.
Glad someone else saw this. I said that on the original video because most comments think it's about dropping out or skipping school.

"Do kids even know cursive"
Kids arent dumb. It was compulsory to do that in my old school. Dont be so rude.
i can safely say that they never taught me cursive
well correction in second grade they had us write our names and nothing else
They taught cursive at my school but I sucked at it
Why is writing in a certain way so important? Surely if I can write at all, that’s fine, plus cursive is harder to read. Also we have computers and writing stuff by hand is becoming more and more rare
This is so funny cause in Romania cursive is the only way you learn to write. Like I didn't know how else to write. When I wrote the letters like on most keyboards my teachers where mad af and asked me why and i said I just changed the font no big deal.
I remember in elementary school we were technically forced to write cursive. I hated it so I don’t write cursive anymore.
we arent allowed to not do cursive in my school. they forced me to do it or i have to redo all my work
“YOur PArEnts ShOuld TeAch YoU ThesE” oh so we should abandoned all the kids who’s parents left them or died
Or if your parents don't know it, teachers are here to actually teach us important things! That's why we're at school anyway right?
@Britta BB yeah but the sad thing is they dont teach it. im living in singapore and apparently somehow they have the title of "one of the best education" in the world. but, they dont even teach important stuff and only teach the generic stuff. considering that, i cant imagine how bad the education is in the rest of the world when mine is already horrendous
@Britta BB the only country that teaches useful stuff (that i know of) is Finland thats messed up
I wanna be a teacher just so I can be a good one.
Taco Loco give it a shot. Seriously. Every teacher enters thinking "I'm gonna be a hit with the kids, liked, kind, and friendly". Not how it works. I've done work experience in Maths Tutoring, its not that simple.
Taco Loco you cant change the rules, the goverment tell teachers what to teach etc
Don't like...don't like.....keep it at 69....so frustrating

I know it maybe difficult and take alot of arguements but if Finland did it, the rest of the world can.
XO
12:57, Queen, go off, I also believe that as well as chosing what we want to learn. Maths, thoes subjects should be the only compoulsery ones, not even English!
(I know, I keep going on about this Queen but also, the other teachers, well done for thinking straight!)
I know it would be hard to fit in life skill stuff but why not get in people for assemblys who maybe dropped out of school and sucseeded or who stayed in and succeeded or who failed so we know what not to do or parents to teach on how to parent.
@@jeffj2247 I'm so sorry that still happens. That form of punishment is discusting especially since the problem is so difficult. I find people who beat kids just lazy. What's the point in a kid acting good if there only doing it not to get in trouble.

Maggie Smith, you need elementary and middle school, high school is where you learn very useful and not so useful things.
We really don't need school with the tecnology we have right now. But are parerents don't really give a damn well at lease my parents they just want a way to get away from their kids.
Natalie Davis ikr
The thing about adults underestimating children is that a lot of, if not a majority of adults don't really consider children to be actual people who have their own desires, passions, hopes, and goals. They might say that they consider children to be people yet they still put them in this separate category where many aspects of their lives need to be dictated and planned without any input or decisions made by the child. Children don't need to be forced into growing and learning and becoming more of an adult. They just need people who care about what they want and will help them achieve the things in their lives that are important to them.
TheschwartzB Thank you so much for your wonderful and intelligent insight
Ehhh, don’t know about that one. I’d say that we should have a lot more weight in our decisions but no most children don’t know what’s best for them. The frontal lobe hasn’t even been fully developed yet.
However if children are told to do everything without having any weight in the decision then they usually grow up thinking they don’t have a say, and don’t usually think for themselves. I’ve had that problem for a while.
It’s called don’t stay in school because he says at the end “ I will make sure that all this stupid stuff don’t stay in school”

Hypperr Merc true but not everyone has good access to the internet, so it sucks for them
I don't care tbh but most of the world will have access to stable internet in less than 100 years. So the school system needs to adapt to the fact that information is much more readily available
I wonder what's fine bros gonna think about this.
😂😂😂
Why would they care
+Blaze Uchiha You're new to youtube or have just been in a cave for the past 5 months? xD
Blaze Uchiha They would take this channel down cause of copyright issues. Basically they have been take down react channels cause of the word "reactions" in there videos.
+Ilaisha Jeik they stopped that AGES ago dude r u living under a rock
I wrote a poem/rap thats inspired by this.
We spend hours upon hours slaving over textbooks,
am I the only one that's ever thought that we should take a closer look?
So focused on assignments, page after page,
Can somebody tell me why I'm losing hope at such a young age?
I want to travel and explore, not be stuck in a class
While I stare at the clock, watching time pass.
When I speak up that I'm worried about paying bills and the tax, they tell me "Oh it's fine, don't worry, just relax!"
The mitochondria is the power house of the cell,
Apparently that's all I've ever needed to know to excel.
But what about topics like depression and anxiety?
Where's the education on how to function in society?
For all the kids stressing out and having panic attacks,
You can't just tell them they're okay, it's not as simple as that.
Kids used to be completely obsessed with their grades,
but now they also seem to worry about how much that they weigh.
Should I focus on this test or how this dress makes me look thin?
Has this seriously become to be the world that we live in?
I know I'm not the only one to notice there's a problem,
So why isn't anyone doing anything to solve them?
But I mean sure, every single time that I'm asked
I can name every president that we've ever had.
But am I supposed to care?
Because in all honesty, I'd rather be taught about self worth and equality.
I don't see how anyone could think this is all okay,
I keep waiting for change but all I can do is pray.
That the future will get better, but really, does it ever?
I guess we'll have to wait and see, but theres no garuntee.
Thanks for reading 💕
Edit: Thanks for the likes and compliments too!!
I did write this myself, and I'm really hoping no one steals it. If anyone wants to rap it, please give me credit if you do.
Katie Kat wow
Pretty sure if u posted this 3 years ago it would have a lot of likes But None the less very good!
Generally would like to see that as a rap
Last little paragraph was my favourite, you’re pretty good.
Didnt look u came up with it
Nowhere in the song he addressed teachers. I'm 100% sure he was talking to the government and those who decide what it's taught in school. NO ONE, absolutely no one thinks teachers randomly decide what to teach in classes.
The flaw that is school makes us stress over *THINGS We DON'T USE IN REAL LIFE*
Me: Excuse me, I'd like to buy this Dairy Milk Chocolate bar.
Store clerk: Sorry, you don't have your fractional distillation or trigonometry licence.
Nobody even remembers it either. Ever asked your parents for help? If they do help how many times did they use google
I KNOW! I was sweating and stressing over a MATH test because I never caught on!
Parentless people: I don't have parents? How do I learn about things that parents should teach?
Teachers: Thats not my problem
They’re called orphans, maybe you do need school for vocabulary.
@@fettywapsmissingeye maybe you should focus on your people skills
@@Appestaart actually I don’t think I will take advice from someone called “Applejuice Is the best”I didn’t even do anything to you and you’re offended, maybe you should focus on your people skills.
@@fettywapsmissingeye it's ok to use synonyms
@@fettywapsmissingeye and school is not the only place you do vocabulary. There's something called Internet! No need to be rude
Why do some of these "teachers" look like high school students...😂😂
NarutoUzamakiLover -Yeah I know right maybe some of them are kid teachers
NarutoUzamakiLover -Yeah student teachers, they exist
Because there are also young teachers...
why do high school students look like those teachers?
NarutoUzamakiLover -Yeah not all teachers are older
If I was a teacher, and I was there I'd say:
Stay in school kids...
A man's gotta eat
U will be an cool teacher
I'm calling the police
The younger blonde woman is annoying! I'm a Mom and we all said this when I was in school! He makes a great point in the song!
GhostGirlAdventures what mom uses this name like tf
Cold Pizza People need privacy.
GhostGirlAdventures Im sorry you spelled mum wrong.....
TheFallon Vids I'm assuming u live in the UK so Americans spell mum with an o instead of a u
TheFallon Vids In the US we spell it Mom and pronounce it that way. so both ways are correct. 😀
SERIOUSLY.
thank you omg
HenryHusky That's true, he did not say don't stay in school...but there's nothing wrong with not staying in school, if you have a better plan. Everyone's like oh no not that, lol. There are many options in life, the schools are not teaching you most of them. What they do teach is to stay in school, or you will be a homeless drug-addicted McDonald's worker... LOL that's a lie. I quit school, with no regrets. I was still able to own my own business, anyone can. With or without college, and with or without high school.
THANK YOU.
I have a husky
And you should have listened in ELA during the grammar lesson.
be careful incase fine bros sue you😂😂
haha, this was just the comment I hoping for when scrolling down and it was the top comment. :)
Harambe old as fuck...
+No name stale ass meme
Tfw you comment an old meme whilst being an old meme. Please, stop.
David Rojas Wow... Nice picture is it 2006 still? Yeah make fun of a legend again.......
When we're talking to pur friends in class
Teacher: do u wanna pass the clas or do u wanna pass away?
Look, I'm 15 and I totally agree with the song, we are missing out on vital info about jobs, income and life choices, yet we are made to learn algebra like it's gonna tell us the speed on road signs, we have technology now, we need to update education, it's been the same for hundreds of years, are you preparing us for the future, or the past....
Jessica Logan, at least cite his name “Prince Ea”
My sister and her friends are having uni interviews and all have them have had panic attacks at school because of exams and uni exams
@@k.tanagatari SHUT UP!
@@djkitty9588 lol, why should he shut up? He just gave you straight facts.
YES!! The other day my doctor was very slowly explaining an EKG and I was like..... hi it’s me I’m not dumb I’m 12
Look at the category of this video
I don't get it? This is pro gameplay
Seems legit.
OW_it_broke it's because they are using a asus computer.

"Do most kids have the ability to see the world in a wider view to know what they should be learning?"
I can ASSURE you, that most kids in my class know what is going on in the world and completely understands these topics.
That teacher with the O-O glasses looks like a student
Genevieve Jones weird thing is that she kind of look like my friend
I think maybe she could be a student teacher. Like the high schoolers that go into a elementary school and see what's it's like and to help out.
Genevieve Jones she looks 14
simply menchlogical I LOVE UR USER
Genevieve Jones actually she mentioned she is going to school to be a teacher so she is a student
And we need more outdoor schools!! I'm ready for a new revolution in education!
oh shit its raining
+Henry Geen The may be hazardous, drink your own piss instead
Try that in denmark. Fuck no, im staying indoors.
