The inly issue is whether you are able to clean the photoelectric cell or not. If there is no way to clean the photoelectric cell, then it really isn’t worth getting a combination unit.

Thanks for the review. I had a First Alert PC1210 that was chirping this morning. I couldn't get it to stop. I looked that up and learned how to disconnect it by breaking the tab and pushing button to disconnect. Now I need to buy a new one. I'll get a combo smoke/CO2 with a photoelectric sensor.
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms detect co I don't think it common to have a co2 sensor in your home you should have both smoke and CO sensors I don't think I have seen any one state co2 sensors were needed in homes accept as a typo!

@@dabitzz Yeah. I think having smoke of both, at least a couple ionization sensors are okay. One thing I wish existed for houses, is units that are only the alarm, and units that are only the sensor, and you would connect them. This way you can have detectors where you need them, since some types of ceilings need multiple on one room, or if there is a room that is more likely to have a fire, and then the alarm units would be for bedrooms.

Where i live most smoke alarm manufacturers have moved away from ionisation detectors And the regulations where i live promote the use of “multi sensor” detectors, which have both photoelectric and heat detectors in them (and in kitchens here, a heat detector would be fitted, smoke detectors are not permitted in kitchens where i live)

Yea, it's recommended that you buy a dual sensor. I have a nest protect that does not have a dual sensor but it is kinda like a dual sensor.

Do you mean the other way around? Photoelectric smoke alarms only go off with VISIBLE smoke. Ionization smoke alarms only go off with FINE smoke.
