    you shold bye the P9050 or the i9010 or the P9040 :)

      one problem I see with the above statement is that you have an alarm made by UTC/ Kidde do you not know they did not want to honor my claim for a recalled alarm until I went on social media and left a horrifically negative review of thier company that included a reported titled Notice of Child endangmernt ?

    I wouldn't disagree with nearly everything you say. But, I would only buy a brand that has a proven history of quality and most importantly reliability. Some company's have had way too many recalls in recent history.

      do you have Omnishield where you live? if not then the Nest is the next best. Nest is good if you like smart devices. if smart devices are not important to you then having photoelectric alarms that are interconnected is all you need. place them in bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, offices, recreation rooms. don’t place them in unfinished attics and basements. don’t place them in the kitchen and garage.

This feature sends a signal (e.g. communicates) with all other S/A in the house without the need to have the "Red Wire" connected to all - and when one sounds (actuated) all go off. ??? Great video - thanks !

    • @BukuiZhao

      Yea, it's recommended that you buy a dual sensor. I have a nest protect that does not have a dual sensor but it is kinda like a dual sensor.

      The inly issue is whether you are able to clean the photoelectric cell or not. If there is no way to clean the photoelectric cell, then it really isn’t worth getting a combination unit.

      what people are forgeting I is I think the usuall reason for no working alarm is that it was an ionization that got disbabled because it goes off everytime the person cooked photo electric alarms are less liklely to be disabled there are studies that back this up as for 10 year alarms do you not know that the cdc came out with a report that says 10 year alarms do not last 10 years ??

    Ionization alarms are good, you should have one, but you should also have a photoelectric one. Ionization ones aren’t bad themselves, they detect fast flaming fires well. Photoelectric detect smoky fires well. In my house ive noticed that the ionization ones are less likely to go off from cooking smoke than photoelectric

    • @Reaktron88
      @Reaktron88 2 месяца назад

      Do you mean the other way around? Photoelectric smoke alarms only go off with VISIBLE smoke. Ionization smoke alarms only go off with FINE smoke.

    • @dabitzz
      @dabitzz 2 месяца назад

      Ionization alarms are good, only if u also have photoelectric alarms

    • @Reaktron88
      @Reaktron88 2 месяца назад +1

      @@dabitzz Yeah. I think having smoke of both, at least a couple ionization sensors are okay. One thing I wish existed for houses, is units that are only the alarm, and units that are only the sensor, and you would connect them. This way you can have detectors where you need them, since some types of ceilings need multiple on one room, or if there is a room that is more likely to have a fire, and then the alarm units would be for bedrooms.

  • @cdsirensnj
    @cdsirensnj 2 года назад +3

    What the heck you’re supposed to have a dual sensor not just ionization or photoelectric it combines the technology of ionization and how it can detect fast Flaming fires with photoelectric technology and slow burning fires photoelectric is only intended for areas that are obscured by cooking smoke or have other problems with nuisance alarms like steam. A problem with photoelectric is that you have to clean them very often otherwise they will go off virtually any time you forget to clean them I know this because I had one photoelectric sensor in my room that would not shut up anytime I did not clean it. So please correct this video!!

      Where i live most smoke alarm manufacturers have moved away from ionisation detectors
      And the regulations where i live promote the use of “multi sensor” detectors, which have both photoelectric and heat detectors in them (and in kitchens here, a heat detector would be fitted, smoke detectors are not permitted in kitchens where i live)

  • @jcraigshelton
    @jcraigshelton 2 года назад +2

    Ionization and photoelectric are different types for different fires. They both perform well for their suited purposes. The best bet is to have some of each type. The photoelectric ones are typically more expensive and require cleaning annually at a minimum. But, if all you buy is one and money is a issue, get a simple ionization one from a well known company and please make sure that you change the batteries. One thing that most fatal fires have in common is no working smoke alarm.

      YOU SIR SHOULD NOT GIVE ADVICE IF YOU ARE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY YOU THINK IONIZATION IS EFFECTIVE SINCE THE Texas And am report state this has over 50% failure in smoldering fires and where it better in flaming it has about 20 % families is un reasonable and I'll ogicall to tell someone to buy a product that has a high rate of failure! Don't you know almost 100 % of all law suits are against ionization? Photo electric has an approximate failure of 4 % for both smoldering and flaming fire and a actually my former business consultant is on the standards technical panel at 217 he actually made full scale test video showing that ionization alarm can fail at an hour and wrote a book about his experience with one failing at 2 hours since you insist on giving advice please provide me with an explanation why I told you the above and you think is make sense to buy a defective alarm!

    • @Fredengle
      @Fredengle Год назад +1

      What you for got to add is I think the reason most fires are fatal is most smoke alarm are ionization which the Texas A& M report said it has over 50% failure in smoldering fires! That probably why the smoke alarm did not work available data states they can fail at an hour or more! Photo electric alarms have failure of about 4% for both smoldering and flaming fires! While ion is supposedly better in a flaming fire still Has failure rate of about 20% in flaming and over 50 in smoldering also did you ever wonder why almost 100% of all law suits are against the ionization type and there are very few photo electric law suits?

      @@FredenglePhoto electric sensors are always advertised as minimizing false alarms - its not true. Photo electric alarms are actually more sensitive. I had only ionization for 8 years - never a single false alarm. We switched to photoelectric - false alarms every few months.

      dont you know ionization alarms are unsafe texas a &m has made a fault analysis report and its also proven in full scale tests that ionization alarms fail during smoldering fires the above statment one of each type is not correct in fact there are some jurisdictoins that have mandated photo electric only ionization failure rates are higher than photo electric failure rates I dont as for the false alarm rate thing its distrubing you want to make that claim and dont have evidence to back that up there was an alaskan study that showed photo vs ion the only photo was disabile was to power a toy robot and ions were frequently disbabled if your interested will be glad to try to send you a copy if you can send me your email of the report you want to make that state ment that I challanage you show me a study to back up that claim !!!
      I will do my best to send to any one who wants to read it the TExas A And M study on alarms fault analsiys and if your so sure you are right I challange you to answer me how come its been stated that I would be willing to bet you 25 dollars that if you ask any litgation attorney they will say they do not have a single case where a photoelectric alarm has been blames for a death ? ( I mean do you not know that has been aruged 100% of all lawsuits are from ionization technology ) could that because becasue the alarms which people want to claim work that 90 % have dont work properly in smoldering fires ? you apparently have not seen this report from gma
