As a percussionist I have you know that percussion is a vital part of the band. If you didn’t have us you wouldn’t be able to keep it together. We are the tempo!

The other day one of my band directors got upset when the trombones came in too early, what happened was that the drum player wasn't there that day and we couldn't keep a steady tempo without her so everyone kept coming in a bit early or a bit late, we tried our best. I know some will say that we should know how to count rests and we do know how to count them but when you learn a whole song with the drums and then all of a sudden they aren't there it really messes you up

Bassoonists are a bit nerdy as well as a bit fussy, a bit stuffy, and also rather intellectual, like oboists…
Hornists are like bassoonists, but can be even MORE exacting, precise, detail oriented even, etc. in some respects…
Trumpeters are ballsy.
Trombonists are gutsy and bold.
Tubists are pretty jolly folks.
Violinists are a bit snobby…
Violists are just amazing…
Cellists are so expressive and emotional…
Bassists are super chill and level-headed.
Harpists are EXTREMELY cultured and refined folks.

The timpani is its own deal probably because of how often it is used in orchestral music…. 🤔🤔🤔

I love that I have to explain what my instrument is every time someone asks me what I play. Picture a small tuba but not so small that it’s light. It’s still heavy after a while.

Being a euphonium/baritone comes with the pain of always having to explain to people what it is and you just end up saying, “It’s like a smaller tuba” I have a euphonium and my teacher made me try out a tuba mouthpiece and they are MUCH different so I hate when they are compared to each other😭💀🎅🏿
