I would personally go in April without a shadow of a doubt. Might get a few rainy days but that's all part of it.

I found the exchange booths bottom end near market best rates last year the ones at front of market as you get out of taxi where really bad rate.

Have watched most of your Khao Lak videos as I'll be visiting for the first time early next year. Do the shops/restaurants on the main strip take cards or cash only? I'd imagine markets like Bang Niang, 835 street food market are would be cash only? Just trying to gauge how much Thai Baht to convert. Your advice would be much appreciated!

Cash is still king but you can pay with cards in some places like resorts or for your accommodation and trips etc but most street vendors and small businesses only take cash in my experience. There is also a charge of around 3% when making payment on card.
