It's easy to hate a country with tons of freedom, a huge economy the size of Europe, a huge military cabable of knocking out all of Europe and enough Nukes to put Europe back in the stone age.

Don't forget the American freedom of experiencing a high rate of school schooting, death penalty, high incarceration rate, the freedom to live in ghettos, the freedom of not needing to pay monthly subscriptions for health care as your system is one of the worst/most expensive in developed western countries. The power and influence of the US doens't make it the greatest country on earth per se. But that's a political rhetoric move to distract you from realizing that the US has been and is quite in a dramatic status. I wouldn't want to live there. Quite contrastingly, I appreciate social safety - which isn't perfect anywhere - but still a lot better in Germany than the US. Even Canada has more similarities with Europe than with the US, policy-wise.
I can't look at the American flag without a tear, and, a tug at my heart. I am an Americn veteran! The American flag is mine in the same way that the country is mine. Because I am a part of it. I was born on this land and I stand for what it believes. The real question is not why Americans love their flag so much as why people in other countries do not feel the same way about theirs. All countries have overcome enemies and evolved from their beginnings. Growing up from the earth with spilt blood as their water, freedom as their sun, and unity as the flower. The flag is only a cloth but what that cloth stands for is everything. That's what we are obsessed about with our flag it is us and those who sacrificed everything for us.
I think that is because almost all other countries except Canada, Australia, New Zealand pledge allegiance to their ancestral home land. It's where they and their ancestors come from, while in the USA you don't truly pledge your loyalty to a place; you instead pledge yourself to the idea of the American government. We pledge allegiance to the flag and to the republic it stands for, not the physical place.
This is why people move to American to become Americans, while no one moves to China to become Chinese. Adopting the flag into your life is part of becoming American.

What it stands for is everyone who sacrificed or will sacrifice to build this great nation. It is the story of us and we are the story behind it. We do not mean to be boastful it's honestly more a love of our country and our people. We do not consider America a business so much as a way of life, a state of being perhaps. I know we are often not held in high regard world wide. Much of Europe has shifted towards being a terminally liberal society. We have some here who lean that way and many more who do not. We are not perfect all societies have issues, ours seem to get magnified and blown out of proportion in the media. Both here and worldwide. For example when Trump tweets something dumb it does not compare to what North Korea is doing to its own people. Yet, it will make the news for longer. When Trump pulls off something that is great worldwide there is silence. Your news media as well as ours is not giving the whole story anymore. Views world wide are being directed in a certain direction and I find that very disturbing. There will never be a complete one world government because human kind is to corruptible and power absolutely corrupts. So we very much like to keep our own government, flag and nation. While America or the American government has done some pretty stupid things we also have done some amazing things. As have the rest of the nations in the world, maybe not on the same scale but, each in its own way.
Nicholas Ramsey I think other countries don’t feel the same way, because the United States had a very unique founding, based on liberty and the principles in our Declaration and Constitution. It was the first country of its kind, and the flag became synonymous with these “American” ideals that much of the world began to adopt only after we did. Also, Europeans especially have a strange aversion to patriotism. To them, it conjures up images of Hitler and the Nazi party. However, I think many conflate nationalism (the bad sort) with patriotism. The American flag stands for everything we hold dear, and reminds us of the sacrifice some have paid for our freedoms. Other countries just don’t have that background.

Yeah I do agree. However not only is it a pretty flag but it represents so much, the stars and stripes have deeper meanings as pointed out in the video. Poland and Indonesia literally have the same flag just one color above the other... Not really symbolic nor authentic. Poland: 🇵🇱 Indonesia: 🇮🇩... Of course these 2 aren't the only countries with flags of the same design however they are most notable.

Jackson Miller 1 nitpick from a fellow American, he actually said the Goddess of Liberty (she was a symbol of America used in the 19th century in an Uncle Sam/ Lady Liberty mixed sort of way) which he also got wrong because that is not the same as the Statue of Liberty.

this video gets most things right but it is not without mistakes, EG. Between 1795 and 1818 the US Flag had 15 stars and 15 stripes.

The flag is also common in disaster areas as a symbol of resilience. Look at pictures from major tornado damage and you’ll probably find one or two from that tornado’s aftermath that show the flag flying proudly over the destruction.

The blue for the night sky. And the stars for good looks to represent the state's.

I don't think you can make a doormat out of the flag. It's illegal to make the flag touch the ground or even tilt it any degree (made after the US Olympic team refused to tilt the flag 90 degree to Hitler). The flag can only be full or half or if in porch, 45 degree.

Nathan Sketch flag regulations are still law, you can't leave it outside during storms unless it is a storm flag. Also garrison flags are illegal to fly outside of military bases. You can't even leave it up at night unless their is a light shining on it. The supreme court only said burning the flag was protected under free speech, they didn't repeal flag regulation laws

In the U.S., being patriotic about the entire country is considered a good trait. However, much of the youth (typically millennials and younger) don't feel the same about the U.S., and feel it is a bad country. I don't think there's anything wrong with loving your country (if you are choosing to be a citizen of it), but many Americans are blind to the fact that there is no best country, and that they are not the best country. Also, this video has a few factual errors, you can see what they are in the other comments.
America would be a better country if it stopped forcing it's ideals and economic models onto other countries in order to enhance it's own interests, especially when it's labelled as freedom. Freedom isn't bullets and bombs. America hated the British colonies, the empirical rule. Yet America's model of colonisation is one of control through debt. The country retains it's sovereignty and pays America for the privilege.

Unfortunately there still isn't a country that has ever come remotely close to U.S.A. in terms of power & wealth at the same time. The U.S.S.R. came close to challenging it with power, but it did not have the wealth to support it's empire. China has some wealth, but not enough to to pose a serious challenge, and it's power is even more limited that it doesn't even allow them to reclaim their own South Chinese Sea.
We have beaten and dominated every other country in economy, military, culture, technology and science without trying. ;D

Actually countries and people are one element, the people construct the country and they help to keep it afloat many politicians refuse to accept that. Also do you honestly think of countries as its own entity that can do everything for itself. Of course it's controlled by people because that's how Society works. We come together to accomplish so much things because together we can do more things
@Shadow Oxide countries are infact sometimes ruled or guided by one figure, but those figures can't run the country without the people. Without the people, they are nothing and many refuse to accept that. The people do infact control the country. Plus no one owns a country, a country isn't own by a specific person.
