@ those extra inning games at like 1-2 am and the going to work in the morning were not fun. But watching the drought being broken and waking my dad up because I was yelling was definitely worth it.
Crochet only has 2 years control left and the package the athletic was discussing was Tristan Casas, Walter Abreu, and Connor Wong. We should be working on getting a similar package for Castillo (or Gilbert maybe even). If you’re going to commit to being a ‘pitching factory’ then you have to assume guys like Evans, Morales, Brandyn Garcia will be good and trade proven guys for bats you can’t develop.
I love the idea of trading for Crochet and then trading a starter (preferably Castillo) for Mayo but then if we could then sign Alonso instead of Walker? That would be a great off season and I would be fine running with Bliss/Moore or Young at 2B
Love the content lads, keep up the amazing interviews. So sad as Mariner fans we are wasting this core with cheap ownership. I hope game one at home we can all chant “CHEAP ASS STANTON”
Bryce Miller may be worth more than Gilbert and Kirby in some circles when you consider he gave up a .524 OPS in the 2nd half, which is supported with a 1.89 ERA and a .841 WHIP and he's constantly notching up his value with steady improvement.
I would steer way away from Crochet because last season when he posted 146 innings, it was nearly 3x as many IP as his career high from 2021 (54.1 IP), his next highest totals are 12.2 IP in 2024 and 6 IP in 2020. He doesn't even trust himself to stay healthy based on his desire for an extension to pitch in the postseason last year. My preferred target would be Michael King, especially the way he destroyed every team in the AL West last season. We also need to stay away from hitters in their mid-30s, when most players decline significantly. The Mariners are also not trying to pay a draft pick to get a 33-year-old 1B, when we already have Raley (129 OPS+), who was better than Walker offensively (121 OPS+), and will make $20M less per season for the next three years, on average.
I always enjoy your content, but some of your trade values made absolutely no sense. Here is an offer that actually makes sense: 3 team trade, Mariners get Hoerner, Bellinger, and RP Varland, Cubs get Crochet, Castillo and Harry Ford, White Sox get Logan Evans, Celestine, and Locklear. That trade addresses needs of all 3 teams, the value for each team is extremely even, and the money canceles out. That is a well thought out, realistic trade proposal right there.
There is only one trade this off season worthy of going hard after. Send Kirby and prospects to Baltimore for Mayo AND Holiday, plus some international bonus pool money. I'd be open to Kirby, Locklear, Peete, and Dollard going to Baltimore for my two coveted Baltimore players and the bonus money. The bonus money is to be added to the pile that the M's have to make a hard charge at Roki Sasaki! Make it happen!!!!!
I think I'd be ok with this. I love Logan but if he isn't going to sign an extension I'd move him for Austin Riley. I'd rather keep Celestin but I'm ok moving Montes. Like you mentioned, his value is only in his bat and if he is three years away from the bigs thats an eternity when waiting on a prospect and he still has a lot to prove as he moves up the minor league ranks.
This is like the bulls in the 90’s no one’s gonna beat the dodgers I honestly doubt this ownership will allow JP & CO do anything they might be lucky to get Ramon urias from Baltimore and Marco Luciano from the giants
Luis Castillo is 32 years old and owed $24M over the next 3 seasons with a $25M vesting option for a 4th season. Pitchers that put up similar numbers to Castillo last season are getting about the same money or slightly less. No team in baseball is taking a guy on a market value contract that has been regressing the last couple of seasons and also giving up a prospect like Coby Mayo. That is beyond clueless.
As far as Logan Gilbert, he's probably the second most valuable pitcher on the team, and if I'm moving him, it would be Logan Gilbert to Baltimore for Jordan Westburg, Kyle Bradish, and Tyler Wells. I would probably toss in a Michael Arroyo or Jurrangelo Cijntje to even the trade values, but I wouldn't send him to Atlanta unless I'm getting back Ozzie Albies and a Hurston Waldrep or Reynaldo Lopez. Your friend should not be trusted with that value assessment, which tells me he doesn't know how good the Mariners farm system is and/or he doesn't understand attrition for corner infielders in their 30s. While there are lots of people hyped on Cijntje and I think we got him at a good point because of still getting Ryan Sloan in the 2nd round, but I still see him as a mid- to high-level reliever who can eat a couple innings, more than I see him as a mid-rotation starter.
Live you guys but I feel like these are all delusional lol the mariners are gonna end up trading Ryan bliss for Marco Luciano or something like that and put Dillion Moore at 3rd and call it a day 😂
come on, mariners are not going to take on Riley's contract, they are just too poor. Mariners should be keeping their prospects, not looking to throw them away for major league talent you cannot afford to pay.
I usually really enjoy your guys shows, but the trades you are perpetuating are laughable. The names you were throwing out in a possible trade for Crochet were so far off base. Its like when I read that proposal the other day that mentioned Bohm for Logan or George, I literally laughed out loud. So you are saying that Crochet would cost multiple of the following, Colt, Laz and Celestine, but then in the same breath you say Castillo would only get you Mayo? Bwahaha you literally sound like you know nothing about baseball. Castillo is a far more proven pitcher than Crochet and has been simply better than him in every facet of pitching. Plus Castillo has more club control and at a very affordable price. When you see what Boyd and Severino have gone for, Castillo's contract is an absolute steal. I appreciate what you guys do, but please quit throwing out such garbage trade offers. If Castillo wouldn't even get you Westburg, then Crochet would NEVER cost one of our top 3 prospects, let alone multiple of them. Use some common sense when you come up with these proposals.
You say use common sense but then say its laughable to think the Mariners should get more than Coby Mayo for Luis Castillo... You guys are out of your damn mind if you think Castillo is worth that. If that is the world you live in, and if Castillo is willing to waive his NTC, and if the Mariners do trade him, you are going to be shocked at how little the return is going to be if you think Mayo is on the table. Castillo isn't going to get you a top 100 prospect by himself, let alone a top 10.
Zero shot of the Braves moving Riley
I’m actually just like Jage I’m from the east coast and I’m a die hard mariners fan
Shoutout to you!! Dedication 🫡
@ those extra inning games at like 1-2 am and the going to work in the morning were not fun. But watching the drought being broken and waking my dad up because I was yelling was definitely worth it.
I would do Castillo for Mayo WITHOUT to Crochet trade. Mayo is a must! Then we can "find" a #5 starter.
Oh so you’re a BIG Coby Mayo fan then 👀

Morning Fellas.
Enjoy Dallas. A lot warmer than the PNW.
We will! Looking forward to it
And that’s for sure

Good speculation fellas. Fun to think about what could be, even though I’m half sure Dipoto will make a couple feckless moves and call it good.

I'm a fan of the White Sox+ Orioles Trade, and anything that makes Walker a real possibility
Ya never know what could happen!

I rather extend Gilbert and trade Kirby cause deep down. I know Kirby wants to be a Yankee and I hate the Yankees
Would LOVE to extend Logan Gilbert! But not sure he’ll sign one or not
Improving the offense would make re-signing with the Mariners more enticing

Make a trade that includes Nico and Issac. It's not a crazy deal but it's gives us 2 starters.
Like Castillo, Rodden, Garver, Dollard for Nico, Belli and Issac.
Austin Rikey has a positive trade value of $91M
Castillo has $5
Gilbert $77M
Castillo is a non-starter.
It would take Gilbert and prospects.

Yeah, it’s all a really interesting conversation! Glad you enjoyed it

Your getting Mayo for Castillo but whitesox can’t get Emerson for crochet?
orioles got a very full infield currently. the m's do not. we need emerson
@ white Sox doesn’t care who you need. Also whitesox could just trade crochet for Mayo

on year two of saying Kirby + 2 prospects for JRam.
Moncada is not the 3rd best option lol stop with that nonsense talk please
Laz is off the table, sorry
