    As a Filipino
    I must say that the modern tagalog words are one of the easiest language to understand in just a short perious of time learning it
    I'm really glad modern tagalog is way easier to understand now

    I was raised in Thai for about 1-3 years + my whole family is Thai, so I obviously understand it fluently. Just that I mostly speak English to the point I lost my ability to speak in Thai, which is sad 😭

    tagalog has a lot of loaned words from spanish, which has a lot of similar-sounding words with english, so modern-day tagalog sentences almost always have one or two spanish or english words in there. not to mention that english is a subject taught to us everyday from the day we start school, plus the xenocentric tendencies of the youth makes them consume a lot of western media, which are generally in english.

    • @moondust2365
      @moondust2365 Год назад

      Plus, because we're xenocentric in general, not just western-centric (or at least, not all of us), mixed with our past and present connections with East, Southeast, and South Asia, we have a bunch of words that people from our fellow Asian countries could understand, at least to an extent (especially since we usually change the meaning a bit, even with Spanish and English loawords sometimes).

      every subject is taught in english starting from kindergarten

    • @moondust2365
      @moondust2365 Год назад

      @@r3ll282 Yes and no? Especially nowadays. The textbooks, notes, presentations, and other materials for most subjects might be in pure English, sure, but the lessons are generally taught in the regional or provincial vernacular, typically Tagalog or another local language mixed with English and various localisms (words mainly only used in a certain area).
      For example, a pre-school or elementary teacher might say something like this during a lesson, "Okay, _so ngayon, ang_ lesson _natin ay_ about _sa fractions. Sino dito alam na kung ano ang mga_ fraction? ... Wow! Very good! _Tama sinabi niya,_ class. _Sabay-sabay niyo nga basahin yung nasa_ TV. ... Okay, _so gaya nga ng sinabi ni X, ang mga_ fraction _ay_ part or _bahagi ng_ whole number. _Naaalala niyo pa ba kung ano yung_ whole number?"
