This era of Fleetwood Mac was known for its blues rock vibe. If you like Bob Welch’s voice, he went solo after he left The Mac and had a hit with a song Sentimental Lady
@@kthor Interestingly enough, as you probably know, that song was released twice ... once WITH Fleetwood Mac, and once AFTER Fleetwood Mac. However, for what you may NOT know ... 1. Christine McVie sang backup and played keyboards on BOTH versions. 2. Danny Kirwan played lead & slide guitar on the FM version 3. *_Lindsey Buckingham_* played lead guitar on the Solo effort as well as backup vocals 4. John McVie and Mick Fleetwood play bass and drums, respectively on both versions. So, basically, both versions were released with Fleetwood Mac as the backing band.
Ah yes!! The Bob Welch years. Before B & N turned them into a bit of a pop band. Check out Peter Greens version. "Black Magic Woman" (Peter wrote it), "Rattleshake Snake" & "Oh Well". Unfortunately Bob's illness got to the point where his wife would have to take care of him which he felt bad about and committed suicide. Oddly enough his wife died a couple of years later.
This is one of my favorite Fleetwood songs , as you said Mick Fleetwood definitely plays a heavier drum, and John McVie is playing a nice bass line with Christy keeping that steady sound she’s playing on the keys . With that said Bob Welsh’s vocals /guitar are great & Mr Bob Westen guitar work is so good on this song. It’s a driving the backroads vibe.
Love this song. Bob Welch said each verse describes a separate real unexplainable phenomenon. The vibe of the song conveys that spooky cool and chill vibe all in one song. The Bob Welch years are completely ignored by most casual fans but the music is great. Sadly he was excluded from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction. Mick Fleetwood expressed how unhappy he was about that. Without Bob there would not have been Stevie and Lindsay. Sadly Bob killed himself a few years ago. He never got the recognition he deserved.
Finally a reaction channel getting to this one! Not many channels get around to it. Totally unique and totally a masterpiece! Thank you guys! Thank you Vincent for the terrific recommendation!!
There's 3 or 4 more reactions out there now. People recommending this, it's good to hear the reactions. Folks need to investigate pre - Nicks/Buckingham Mac!
I bought this album back in 74 and still keep it in my collection. It really is one of my favorites of theirs. Thanks for checking out the pre Lindsay and Stevie. Now you'll have to try a bit earlier with Peter Greene's "Oh Well" from Fleetwood Mac in 1969.
You could also go further back to Peter Green - Mick Fleetwood - John McVie all in John Mayall's Blues Breakers. So many greats came out of John Mayall's band over the years.
I actually just listened to this again the other day after a long time. It made me remember how much I like it and immediately added to a playlist. Got me hypnotized got me floating.
Love Christine McVie's vocals on this track! In fact, she headlines a lot of great tracks during this era..."Station Man", "Why", "Come A Little Bit Closer", "Spare Me A Little", "Just Crazy Love", "Heroes Are Hard To Find", "Did You Ever Love Me?". These are all before her HUGE hits during the Buckingham/Nicks era of Fleetwood Mac. Christine McVie needs some lovin' on this channel!!!
Most people know the Fleetwood Mac with Stevie and Lindsey. but the old Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch and before him Peter Green are also just as good. I love all versions of FM as they are all great. So glad you are reactiong to some old time FM. Great reaction.
"Old Fleetwood Mac", love both old and new. The long version of"Oh Well" is interesting, 2 minutes of lyrics and then an instrumental that sounds like a western movie soundtrack. It's more of the "old" Fleetwood Mac.
My brother had tickets to see them circa 1974 with his friend, his friend couldn't go. He asked me to go, I was 14 yrs old, it was a midnite show at the NY Academy of music... I was probably the youngest one there since they were n't a big band yet. Bob welch was the lead singer and guitarist....They played this song that night and it was stuck with me my entire life!!!
This is one of my favortie songs by Fleetwood Mac. Bob wrote some songs that I really enjoyed such as " Ebony Eyes " and " Sentimental Lady " just to name a couple. Great reaction. Take care as always.
I never heard of Fleetwood Mac until I started college in 1974. A couple of people in my dorm loved them and played this album all the time and I loved "Hypnotized". Turns out, this was just before Bob Welch left the group but there already were rumblings. They were hired to play our college Homecoming concert but we had no idea which personnel would be there or if it was going to be a final tour, or even if there was going to be a concert at all. Since this song was written by Bob Welch they did play it. It was a good concert but a bit disjointed. The next spring Welch was gone and Buckingham and Nicks joined bringing about the Mac that most people know.
Oh man... Great choice and thanks for reacting to this because doing so keeps great music like this alive!!! This has to be one of the top 100 moody songs of all time. Once again thanks for the reaction and looking forward to whatever you guys react to next! Pretty much this channel has become the shark catch at the pier - when they open up the shark you never know whats going to fall out - a tire a license plate an arm haha!!! Thanks for the great channel
I love all of the incarnations of Fleetwood Mac. Thank you for digging deeper than most. "Black Magic Woman" made popular by Santana was written and recorded by Fleetwood Mac. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown) is a must-listen also.

EBONY EYES is an absolute must!! Bob Welch was fantastic. As long as you are going back into the Fleetwood Mac vault, you might try out some of the Peter Green material. I recommend these two songs. LAST NIGHT and OH, WELL. Enjoy
Great Reaction BARS & BARBELLS! I had totally forgotten about this song! The minute Mick Fleetwood started with the drums I new what it was! I think Hypnotize is code for Wacky Tobaky! It reminded me of a song by Jim Stafford called Wildwood Weed! One the lyrics goes Take a trip and never leave the farm! That’s how I feel just listening to Hypnotize ! Thanks for bringing back some great memories!🎸🙏🏻
You may want to delve into the lead singer Bob Welch. He had a great solo album in 77 called French Kiss which featured such great hits like Ebony Eyes, Sentimental Lady, Easy to Love. Members of Fleetwood Mac were featured on that album
Great choice, so chill, I love this song...earlier still is Oh Well, before it's time and kinda our GenX anthem lol... When you're ready for more Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham I would suggest Landslide it's so so beautiful. Curious about your plans for Christmas reactions, Stevie Nicks has a beautiful rendition of Silent night, Joan Jett does one of my favorite versions of Little Drummer Boy if you're wanting to rock out for the holidays😊
Fleetwood Mac was essentially 2 different bands. If you weren't someone who followed them back in me late 60s early 70s, you would have a hard time recognizing them if you only know their stuff after they got Stevie Nicks. Hypnotize was a great song. Certainly one of their best and if you're talking about pre 1973 I think it is my favorite.
Christie McVie, married to John McVie, was singing the backup vocals. She occasionally sang lead before Stevie Nicks joined the group. Check out "Show me a Smile" from the "Kiln House" album.
You need to listen to Fleetwood 'Mac's Oh Well', also before the ladies joined the band and they were more of a rock/blues band. They were called Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac back then.
Two other songs from this album are available in good quality live versions performed on the Midnight Special TV program in 1973. Christine sings lead on "Believe Me" ruclips.net/video/3zC2XQP3QqM/видео.html and Bob Welch sings lead on "Miles Away" ruclips.net/video/jJTFzvMPFa4/видео.html Both songs have some good guitar work from lead guitarist Bob Weston.
This version of Mac is right before Buckingham/Nicks took Welch's place after he left. It's basically the third version of Fleetwood Mac. The original was a straight blues, blues rock outfit, with headliner guitar great Peter Green.
Omg one of the best songs ever, much less of Mac. These lyrics are about alien contact and the stories that pass down through legend of alien contact with us. This song takes you on a journey, musically and lyrically!
Can't believe you haven't done Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac yet, that was the best original band, songs like Black Magic Woman, Need Your Love So Bad, Man of the World, Albatross, Loved Another Woman, Looking For Somebody, Love That Burns
Yeah! I'm 72 and have experienced all of Fleetwood Mac's various personnel lineups. Just my opinion but the Bob Welsh albums are my favorites. Check out Heroes are Hard tto Find. The lovely Christine McVie on the title track.

Good question on where Bob Welsh is from , I usually have ridiculous trivia questions like that rattling around in my head but I’m not sure I was thinking he’s from the U.S. somewhere but he’s probably from London or Liverpool, Sir Paul McCartney,s nephew or something. Lol.
This is the original Fleetwood Mac of the late 60s and early 70s. There were no girls in the group, and I think this version of Mick Fleetwood's and John McVie's Band, was the best. Totally unrelated to the 70s version with Stevie Nicks, and Linsey Buckingham. This version with the great Peter Green, was a super Blues Band.
A great sound but you should go right back to the very beginning, to the founding member Peter Green. From 1968 Green was a fantastic Blues Guitarist and writer with such hits as Black Magic Woman etc!

A summer night, a beautiful country road with no traffic, a convertible, and this song. . .
This is one of the coolest songs ever written. Driving through the desert at dusk with this song playing....yessssss.
I totally agree.
this will ALWAYS be my favorite FM song....I'm a big fan of the Bob Welch years!!
I, also was a big fan of the Bob Welsh FM albums.
This era of Fleetwood Mac was known for its blues rock vibe. If you like Bob Welch’s voice, he went solo after he left The Mac and had a hit with a song Sentimental Lady

Yep, Weston killed it on Mailes Away as well, and really the entire album. I've always been a Wells fan, but Weston needs some credit!
Mystery to Me is one of my favorite albums by Fleetwood Mac. Welcome to the good old days!

That’s music…PERIOD! What a great jazz vibe! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

So sad to hear that heavenly voice in the background. Still in shock

Song has a vibe of light jazz
And of course, a touch of blues.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown) is a must-listen also.
Green Manalishi, very underrated song. There were 3 iterations of Mac, lot of folks are not even aware of 1st two. A shame.
Lyrics
It's the same kind of story
That seems to come down from long ago
Two friends having coffee together
When something flies by their window
It might be out on that lawn
Which is wide, at least half of a playing field
Because there's no explaining what your imagination
Can make you see and feel
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
Now it's not a meaningless question
To ask if they've been and gone
I remember a talk about North Carolina
And a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
And if any man's hand ever made that land
Then I think it would've showed
That's why it seems like a dream
Got me hypnotized
And I know that's right
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
They say there's a place down in Mexico
Where a man can fly over mountains and hills
And he don't need an airplane or some kind of engine
And he never will
Now you know it's a meaningless question
To ask if those stories are right
'Cause what matters most is the feeling
You get when you're hypnotized
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
Got me hypnotized
Always loved this song
One of my favorites, also Oh well and Little Lies
Fleetwood Mac had such a distinctive groove groove to their music. The definition of Easy Listening.

Bob Welch - "Ebony Eyes"
