The dude getting naked on stage was a reference to the 70’s when random people would interrupt performances by streaking or running through naked. It was a 70’s sexual revoluition thing. My mom was lit like, people were streaking all the time to shake up how conservative and right wing everything was back then. Women weren’t shy about dating around for fun (for once) and were serious ab gender equality. Black/Latino/gay people who made dance music a thing were finally starting to take over music with disco. If you read up on history white straight men were not happy about this, of course. And if u look at how old M was and her political history, this is all her.
Derek - The joy on your face reminds me so much of when I first watched this YEARS ago! So excited for you to finally get to witness this!!! THANK YOU !
She was in such sick shape here, I mean she consistently is but she goes all out for these performances. And it’s reflected in her stamina. I love your reaction to her X rated part👏👏
Madonna loves to tell a narrative during her tours and sometimes it’s frustrating and joyous with what songs from her vast catalog she fits into that narrative. This segment is one of her best and cohesive ever. Starting with party vibes of Express Yourself to Free love escapades of Deeper and Deeper....and leads to Why’s it So Hard which deals with the ramifications of such ‘free love’....which was the AIDS crisis....and then the very heartfelt In This Life which Madonna wrote after a dear friend died of the disease...which was saw M lose too many. Great reaction. The attention to detail was staggering. The choreography was brilliant and M did as much dancing as her dancers. I’ve followed and loved M from the beginning and it’s wonderful to see young people like yourself venture into her world. M can be frustrating at times, but I wouldn’t give her up for anything.
You should have experienced this in Buenos Aires 1993 like I did... Still get goosebumps when I remember. When the disco balls started to come down for Deeper and Deeper I realized I was gay and there was no turning back.
It's fun watching the younger generation get into Madonna today. She was the second most famous person in the world when this show came out, right after Princess Dianna and everything Madonna did was all over the news papers. She was both loved and hated but was always very interesting.
this is was my very first Madonna concert, it was a cold night and I went alone to the first concert in México city, at the end of it, I was hot, sweaty and so hyper from all of her energy !!! #BestNightEver @Madonna #rules
I was there that night. I was 17 years old. I camped outside the ticket office on Sunday morning to buy 3rd row dead centre catwalk tickets. It was magic.
It was such a bummer that she didn’t play US shows. I think she did a stint in New York and one show in her hometown In Michigan. This is the only Madonna Tour i didn’t see live. Great show.
She performed 5 shows in the U.S.... 3 nights at MSG in NYC, 1 night in Philadelphia, & 1 night in her 'hometown' Detroit (Auburn Hills actually). Since the backlash to the 'Sex' book/'Erotica' album was so scathing in America, it was decided to concentrate on markets more accepting of her at that time. Every show in the U.S. sold out in minutes. It was such a shame because this tour raised the bar even further than the 'Blond Ambition Tour' did! It was a phenomenal production... & Madonna was at the absolute top of her game!! THIS was Cabaret!
I was incredibly lucky to watch this show live in Israel. Madonna’s musicians made an amazing job with the new arrangements for the songs and you have to admire Omar Hakim on the drums. This was Madonna at her very best. She had an enormous influence on me as a teenager.
When you covered your eyes, you reminded me of the little boy from the Open Your Heart music video. I have watch this concert & Blonde Ambition Tour so many times, that I use to(May still) know all the choreography.
I think the Barcelona version is MUCH better! It's so raw, hot and humid Spanish evening. The crowd was going wild for Madonna and the show! Madonna had to tell them to be quiet ´cause the noise of the crowd was so loud at times. Also the Barcelona version was the second to last show of the tour, so the show was developed along the way and Madonna was more talkative. So Barcelona version! That's the best version of this show :)
I saw this in December 2022 , 29 years after . I was watching alone here in youtube and I was so terrified and shocked. Shes amazing. I love her hairstyle here so powerful.
The original versions of both Express Yourself and Deeper and Deeper are VERY different. The original Deeper and Deeper does have some disco feeling elements but she kicked it up multiple notches in the LIVE version.
Actually it's 1972 Lyn Collins's "Think (About It)", written by James Brown, a masterpiece, sampled in hundreds of records from mid '80s until today for sure. ruclips.net/video/eHn48b7iWF0/видео.html THIS is real old skool, 60's and 70's. 90's are not and cannot be old skool not even for somebody born in '90s or 00's. Madonna's taken a lot from those times, she and her musicians grew up in that environment, and the Girlie Show is filled with references and samples of the original funky and R&B era, like the grand finale "Everybody", inbued with Sly and the Family Stones tracks. ruclips.net/video/NOa5UOHdwnc/видео.html So, please everybody, study and listen.
This is why I love your reactions, you get it, you appreciate the music and reacting to just one performance doesn't make it justice to the whole concert
Great reaction! I actually went to one of the Girlie Show concerts, it was such a fantastic show (as you can see), and a great time! Only one of two major concerts that I ever bothered to go to, as I knew that she was going to put on a SHOW!!! The other major one I went and saw was Prince for the Diamonds and Pearls tour - another fantastic show. Aaaaah.........the memories!!! xx
The GIrlie Show is one of my favorite Madonna tours! And Carrie Ann Inaba, pre- Dancing With The Stars and hosting gigs, is one of the dancers, and goes topless in various portions of the show!
Try to look for the "HEADSET" version of this tour, it's amazing. It's just her voice, the bass and the drums, just the way she would hear it in her earpiece.
Boa noite...sou do Brasil, professor de História e gostei de seu vídeo, amo Madonna e gostei de seus comentários técnicos..valeu amigão...no Google você vai ver a tradução...kkkk...se cuida moleque..abraço!!
I watched this show when Madonna came to Puerto Rico... She was awesome but this is the part of the concert I enjoyed most. Express and Deeper are two of Madonna's tracks I love the most. I was close to the stage and it was unbelievable.
U should have watch the whole transition from Deeper and Deeper to Why Is So Hard... That is AMAZING!!! I was in this show in Rio de Janeiro 1993... I left the stadium completely without voice...
If he was shocked in the middle of 2020 seeing the orgy simulation on stage, imagine what it must have been like for 1993 society? Madonna is courage in the form of a woman. Icon!
I know exactly where I was the night this concert was on pay-per-view, good ole Peoria Illinois with a bunch of friends. Carlton‘s body was on point for this tour.
"every morning .. every nite... i just wanna hold you tight" ... does it an insert from another song?/ anyone knows?? been to the Sao Paulo show.... never will forget!!!!
Hi D! The part where you hear IT TAKES TWO. There was a girl trio called SEDUCTION and they sang that song. There was also another song with the same title by Rob Baze & DJ EZ Rock. Fun fact: Seduction was a freestyle group in the late 80s and one of her members (the blonde) is now a famous judge on RuPaul's Drag Race - Yes Michelle Visage was the one that sang original song. ruclips.net/video/WPtzAL-gzCc/видео.html
Another interesting fact Madonna actually sent a cease and desist letter to Michelle visage because she looked so much like Madonna with the blonde hair and business suits
Your face, love that reaction but please watch Madonnas Blonde Ambition Tour 1990 and watch the opening with Express Yourself... The whole show set a new standard in those days!!
DERI YOUR SO COOL FOR SHOWING RESPECT TO THE LEGENDS MICHAEL JACKSON AND THE LIVING LEGEND MADONNA , NEVER CHANGE , BUT CAN I ASK YOU SOMETHING DERI YOU LOOK SO YOUNG WERE YOU BORN WHEN MADONNA AND MICHAEL JACKSON WERE AT THE GREATEST WHEN THEY PEAKED IN THE 80S AND 90S? YOUR ONE COOL DUDE NEVER CHANGE LOVE YOUR WORK KEEP IT COMING.
Please, please do it a reaction to the version of express yourself from the MDNA tour they have a great mash up with born this way, greetings from México
This was filmed in Australia. It was her first tour in Australia and she played 8 shows to more than 350,000 people. Queen!! 👑
For me, this is the best live version of Express Yourself in any of Madonna’s tour... power vocals!
Also the most fun! ❤️
@@robertfraser9873 yes! This was the start of the party in this tour! 🪩🕺🏽💃🏽
@@noddyfernandez9413 the most fun yes, but the Blond Ambition was way more intense.
Deeper and Deeper is one of my all time favourite Madonna songs. Your reaction to this was so perfect 👌
The dude getting naked on stage was a reference to the 70’s when random people would interrupt performances by streaking or running through naked. It was a 70’s sexual revoluition thing. I cannot watch any other pop star’s show after I’ve seen Madonna concerts.
I compare everyone to Madonna and they never measure up
These 2 songs were MEANT 2 be together. The disco vibe, the looks, the dancing, the VOCALS, EVERYTHING is just LEGENDARY ❤️
Derek - The joy on your face reminds me so much of when I first watched this YEARS ago! So excited for you to finally get to witness this!!! THANK
YOU !
You really need to react to "Express Yourself" and "Deeper and Deeper" music videos! But first finish the concert. Loving it! Thanks
someone loves live versions...he probably heard the songs....
She is a Great Woman ❤️🔝❤️🔝
She was in such sick shape here, I mean she consistently is but she goes all out for these performances. And it’s reflected in her stamina. I love your reaction to her X rated part👏👏

Love your channel. I was in Rio's leg of the tour. Iconic! Congrats from Brazil!
I was at this show Sydney - absolutely phenomenal show!!!
I was incredibly lucky to watch this show live in Israel. Madonna’s musicians made an amazing job with the new arrangements for the songs and you have to admire Omar Hakim on the drums. This was Madonna at her very best. She had an enormous influence on me as a teenager.

Watching this first thing in the morning- woke me up! Amazing performer, great review 👍
When you covered your eyes, you reminded me of the little boy from the Open Your Heart music video.
I have watch this concert & Blonde Ambition Tour so many times, that I use to(May still) know all the choreography.
React to "Blond Ambition Tour" - (Live Yokohama) - Madonna.
Seconded
New Jersey or Nice are significantly better

Derek, she sang a line from the song It takes 2 by Seduction, a 90's girl group. Michelle Visage, from Rupaul's Drag Race was part of the group.

Definetely the inspiration comes from 70s and I guess Deeper and Deeper performance was based on HAIR movie. Love your way Dereck.
The Girlie Show is Madonna’s finest!
Absolutely LIVE! Sooooooo awesome and looks FABULOUS!!!!! Thanks so much dereck! Lotsa love my man💙zane
We accompany you in Brazil too much, make more subtitles in Portuguese please. we love you here.
The Girlie Show was her best concert to date ... and the best concert by any artist male of female ... by far ...

Madonna is always 2 steps ahead of anyone . Michael jackson and Madonna world tour would of been amazing. Even Madonna and prince would be amazing.
Dereck covering his eyes is soooooo cute hahahaha

NOPE, Lyn - CollinsThink (About It) 1972 is the actual sample. Seduction was not even in Madonna's Radar.
@@DereckReacts actually it's Lyn Collins - Think (About It) a 1972 song produced by legendary james Brown

WHAT TOOOK YOU SOOOO LOOONG ?
BTW JUSTIFY MY LOVE IS ONE OF MY FAVES IN THIS SHOW - CAN NOT WAIT ;)
Justify my love on this show is pure art.
Justify my love costumes are the best EVER! It’s inspired by the horse racing scene from My Fair Lady

Hahaha once again I love the way your face turns red when she gets hot. Then you can't stop that nervous laugh. So funny
The sample that you heard was Lyn Collins - Think (about it) 1972
Seduction, It Takes Two is my guess.
Dereck oh my goodness
Your face, love that reaction but please watch Madonnas Blonde Ambition Tour 1990 and watch the opening with Express Yourself...

I love these songs so much but what are the songs in the background in deeper and deeper in the beginning and the end?
