World Water Week Session- Two-Eyed Seeing: Indigenous values for climate resilient water management

  • First Nations, Aboriginal, Indigenous and Traditional knowledge of surface and groundwater as well as cultural and spiritual values are an incommensurable contribution to water management internationally. Indigenous Peoples’ need support to action their strength, savviness, and know-how, requires support, resources and decision-making power in water management.
    In this session from SIWI World Water Week 2023, participants share case studies of diverse journeys from Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, the Pacific and Sweden, showing how First Peoples’ values and knowledge on environment and water is being used in practice to inform water management decisions.
    The session was co-convened by the Australian Water Partnership and the University of Canberra.
