Thank you for making this point. I just figured that out before seeing your comment - it was driving me crazy. For everyone else - check Sketchucation for an entry "[Example] V-Ray Displacement Post by thomthom on Thu May 27, 2010 10:10 am" for more details.
To change how texture looks on plane, you can go to diffuse. Click m change to bitmap, now pick the brick. Now I'd you go to a sketchup bucket, and I adjust like regular texture.
hey, when i add the image to the displacement bitmap, the scale of the image is too small and i have to get the cam really close to the texture so the render recognize the displacement, how can i change this image scale so when i put the complete scene i the displacement is on its correct size?
Hello! i have a question near minute 6:48. How do u subdivide the original surface instead of increacing the max subdivisions. Can someone explain pls or I need a tutorial. Thanks a lot
i did it once it worked fine and then i tried to do it again with some other material and both materials stuped rendering with displacements am i doing something wrong or is there a bug with my software im using it on OSX by the way
When I select a bump map for a material and click on preview all looks good, but then when I do a render the bump map looks like it's made by thousands of little maps instead of one. How do I solve this? thank you!
Same happening here. Instead of the bump/displacement texture extending through the whole object, it repeats itself thousands of times in smaller sizes. How can you fix that?
Cool tutorial but you guys forgot to say that materials with displacement map should be applied to separate geometry (like group or component) in order to work.
Iam having a problem with my textures. When i render, my bitmap materials is not showing at all. I need to render a screen with content, but, since is not showing the content, the screen appears as blank.
I tried to render materials and everything was fine till this message appeared at the time of clicking the "R" button. " We have encountered error(s) while trying to render. Please check the error log for more details." What can I do? please help. I already looked for the answer and Its not on internet. Thank you.
Love to see the tutorials are back!!!! Thanks!!!

Thanks man, It took me hours before i decided to look here again and see what I was doing wrong
You said everything, I was here all day!
Can you please make a new version of this for version 3.4. There are so many undocumented changes in the new version

thanks!

set the 'u' and 'v' values in texture options to something smaller than 1 (try 0.1 for example)
dude thank you , i was going crazy about that...
Iam having the same problem.
Did you solved?
Can u help me too?

hi, how to control the size of a bump?
Muy bien, Fernando.
can u share the material (texture) map? the grayscale please
can you just send photo of brick material and brick bump, cause I founded one brick bump but they dont match!

I do not understand, I put the bump and displacement as you put it is not so! Explain please
Very good. Thank you.
Glad I could help :)
Спасибо, очень помог
thanks a lot!!!!!
it doesnt work on me, it still flat :(
same here
every texture must be on its own group or component, thats the only way it works, if its not on a group the displacement will fail
Does it require an high system of pc to do this?
yeah i would say at least 6gb ram and i5 cpu at LEAST
Joaquin Guerrra oh..i see..thanks a lot☺☺
i'll start do it now and tell u later what the result ;)
save and close your sketchup file. restart sketchup , open your sketchup file again, and your good to go. Sketchup has its bugs...
Not yet.
