And this time, I want to talk about idolatry. I know that when we think of idolatry, we have assimilated with images of saints, graven images, other gods ... And all this is idolatry, but idolatry is also everything that we put above God. All that we put trust and fail to trust the Lord. So, God made it clear that the one who is to be worshiped Him because He is the master of life, He is the only true God, who alone has the power to change our lives. And I want to read a passage in which he speaks about His son and about Himself. He says: "We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know him who is true. And we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols "(1 John 5: 20,21).
As we just read now, Jesus is the only way to eternal life. It is the only one who points out the true God. You do not need anything else in your life, God must be your keeper, your Sustainer, who protects you, who cares for you, one that ta give the breath of life. He isthe God the creator of heaven and earth and He will not share His glory with anyone. But often we have idols in our lives. And these idols are not just inanimate objects, lifeless. No. They are idols that are within our heart. And you may not realize what they are, but the idols can be our football team can be a political party, can be money (how many people there put their trust in riches, money). It may be the job can be a boyfriend, can be a lucky charm, something that the person puts their dependence on what there. It can be an open Bible in the house, can be a pastor, can be a gospel singer, a famous singer. It can be many things, but God does not want us to put our trust in anyone at all. Because all this will make us stop trusting that God is with us. And God's Word says: "I am the LORD: that is my name I will not give my glory to another or the images my praise" (Isaiah 42: 8).
God alone is worthy of our worship, but I know that the human being has a tendency to put substitute in place of God, because perhaps it is easier for us to trust in what we see, what we're doing, what we have close of us. But if you use your faith, you will be able to believe and see the power of God work in your life. So put your faith in Jesus Christ, for He Himself said that He came to set us free. The idols enslave us, the idols do people get stuck there and what they can not do anything them. But Jesus came to free us from the power of sin, freeing us from eternal death. And you should put your trust and, above all, his faith in the Lord to receive eternal life. And I'm sure God has much more for you if you give up the idols and put your heart every day in the presence of God. So ask the Lord to show you on a daily basis if you have placed your trust in someone, something, you take your heart and worship only God. Okay?
