Discovering that over 60% of Amish communities in Northern Indiana still adhere to this traditional practice in 2024 is fascinating. It shows a strong dedication to their roots.
Incredible insights from this travel documentary on Amish restroom traditions! My visit to Northern Indiana last year really mirrors what was shown. Thanks, WIN GLOBE, for highlighting these enduring customs! Did anyone else find the 60% adherence rate as surprising as I did?
When raised around the farm - the only people using inside toilets were mothers, sometimes kids, and an uncle that got polio before disease eliminated and limited him to wheel chair. We found a nearest shady tree out of eyesite. or bush, never in the middle of a lawn - would leave brown spots. Here in SW - through biochemistry we find people eating lots of animal products results in lots of uric acid in pee, stinks more, and can burn spots in grass by killing it. Trees can handlie it, and in arid climates pee helps the trees. South of Santa Fe, NM in the mid 1970s a neighbor pointed out a tree in his back yard twice as big as the one next to it - that was te tree he peed under for a few years.
The bundling courtship tradition is incredibly intriguing! Using a wooden board to maintain modesty during courtship? Thats a clever way to foster intimacy while respecting boundaries.
How much of our modern perceptions about privacy and modesty are shattered when you uncover the shocking truth about what men and women actually experience in secluded Amish communities? What does this tell us about their way of life in this travel documentary that exposes the unseen and unspoken?
I was really surprised to learn about the Amish mens unique bathroom practices in Northern Indiana. Visiting barns instead of indoor facilities is a testament to their deep commitment to simplicity and tradition.
It is very similar to orthodox jewish life in msny ways.If I was living not too far from an Aimish comuniry I would certainly buy their furniture and quilts. The main thing in life is to be a good humanbeing and to do what GOD has demanded.

It would appear that the Americans NEVER actually go to the toilet - it would seam that men stand around a bath doing what ever or go to the Rest room and oviously rest on a bed - in England we have TOILETS which you piss and shit in - SO decide what you want to do and where you want to do it ,
How would anyone know this story is true since the Amish are not allowed to mix with the world in hardly any way ! They can't defend themselves if I read it right .

The concept of Rumspringa blew my mind! The freedom for Amish youth to explore the outside world temporarily is such a compassionate way to allow them to make an informed decision about their future.
Its interesting that around 15% of traditional Amish communities still practice bundling. This custom offers a unique glimpse into their values of purity and emotional connection.
