We Tried Italy’s Frecciarossa Executive Class Review

  • Published on Feb 13, 2026
  • We finally tried the Executive Class seat on Italy's high-speed Frecciarossa train and let's just say, it was unlike any train ride we've ever taken. From private lounges and personal service, to an unlimited food menu and reclining leather seats, this luxury upgrade felt more like flying first class. But was it worth the splurge? Come ride with us from Rome to Venice and see exactly what you get for the price.

My wife and I tried this twice. Our first time, she ordered the orange juice, and got the prosecco, which was fine for me, extra prosecco - bonus!
Our second time around, though, we cannot fault it. The service was spot on, the food was delicious, and the journey was incredibly relaxing. The man in charge was like a brilliant PA - he told us where we needed to go, what platforms to go to, and even helped with our suitcases.
The difference was night and day.
I think your mileage may vary, which is a shame to be honest.

As I kid and teenager I used to spend my summers in Italy and we used to travel by train a lot and the best experiences on the train was in the then dining car which was like a restaurant. Excellent food and a white glove treatment…the last time I did so was in 1992 with my then wife who marveled at it as this was no Amtrak. In August, I will be in Italy with my daughter and taking the FrecciaRossa for the first time and I had thought about the Executive tickets specifically for the dining experience however I found out that the dining car restaurants have long since been retired and the food is all microwaved so I opted for the Business class seats instead.

Be sure to catch the "Frecciarossa 1000" flagship model train as there is also the "slower" (non that much of course) Frecciarossa 500. 😉

I think that there is not enough space to let the chairs down, without annoying the Passenger behind it?
The food made me Laugh Out Loud 😂

Good video, and looks like a fun trip! I guess I wouldn't set my expectations too high on train food, but it didn't look horrible. We just returned from Italy, and took both the Trenitalia Frecciarossa and Italo high speed trains from Naples to Rome, and then from Rome to Venice.
We didn't have the first class experience you are sharing in the video, but we found the trains to be comfortable and clean. The process in the station for first-time Italy travelers was a bit stressful and confusing in regards to figuring out the arrivals, departures, gates, boarding, etc., but we figured it out. The only bad thing that happened, which really put a damper on our trip, was they had a transportation strike the day we were leaving from Rome to Venice, that canceled many trains and we had to scramble to find another one, which was very stressful.

It is the same with trains in Germany, we go there every February/march for tradeshow and it feels like a joke, the food is horrible, but the seats are more spacious.

I totally expected a fully dressed Veggie Burger as well!! That's hysterical and needs to be described on the menu which appeared to be a full menu with plenty of choices. I can't believe no one came to ask about the order...
Jesse's reaction to her second plate has me in stitches. When I was her age I would have reacted the exact same way. Just too funny and truthfully how else do you react?? ☺️

I studied in Spain in 2007, and I LOVED riding the AVE between Sevilla and Madrid! My study abroad group didn't ride in first class, but even the Turista Class was very nice, despite being on a 1992 train. I hope we can get high speed rail here in the Southeastern U.S. soon, but I'll believe it when I finally see it!

Those trains look the same as the Spanish Iryo brand, that are actually Italian. I have just been in economy class, but those are good trains. I do bring my own food from home though. That food and space for 250€ sounds like waaaay too much.

    Venezia Roma exe 230€.
    Venezia Roma bus 130€.
    Venezia Roma pre 113€
    Venezia Roma sta 99€.
Me, working in those frecciarossa trains, even in executive levels, I will never travel in higher levels. Firstly because trip duration is the same and even panorama is😊.
Secondly, I can splurge the 130€/pax difference in my favourite supermarket or restaurant or wherever I prefer 😊
Thirdly, I'm an insider, so for sure there is a colleague of mine I know 😅😅😅😅
And if you may need more sitting space, just buy two second class seats per person, and you'll still save 30€ each 😮
Ps I didn't finish the video, so I don't really know what Jessie & Alessio went through. I'll see it later

6:47 I, personally, would not consider that "terribly wrong." Maybe "slightly disappointing," or "unexpected," but for me... "terribly wrong" would be if someone snuck some meat onto my plate 🤣
Just the patty is fine for me, as long as there's no meat. That's when I'd have a problem 🤣
Good thing there's no limits on your ability to order!

In reality most Europeans when they get on a train they aren’t focused on food offerings. Equally the amount you paid doesn’t fit the European idea of train travel. High speed travel in Europe is great and if you work the system remarkably cheap. For example I have a four and a half hour journey booked in France on TGV Inoui, split between two connecting services. In First, E36. Sometimes I wonder if these ‘Luxe’ offerings are just intended for American tourists on big travel budgets.

The food appeared to be lackluster, and that Scaloppina looked downright awful. The color was all wrong. Definitely not worth the price. So, apart from the meeting room, the uselessly large chairs and the food, shouldn't it all be just the bare minimum for traveling? Space, cleanliness, comfort for the passenger, and the respect for people's time. This should be the bottom line, not a luxury.
And come on... 250 euros per person? You guys were robbed!

You guys were funny and entertaining on another video, but this one you really sounded like out of touch. Wendy's is not executive food, and if you had a bit of class would appreciate small portions and all you can eat advantage as a good thing, not dissapointment. Try a bit of class and learn from someone else more enthusiastic: ruclips.net/video/pT6KNMswdBk/video.html
