      He was one of the biggest stars in the 90's though. I didn't watch basketball at that time but he was legendary for being the toughest guy in the NBA, and I remember the kids talking about how he threw a guy through a window. NBA was so important to kids back then because Jordan was like a superhero, and Barkley was like the tough bad boy of the league.

      You clearly have no idea how contractual obligations work. Chuck literally said that in the contract, he would have to go on radio shows etc, which he didn't want to do. If Kobe signed a contract saying he didn't have to do it, how would that be fair on the others?

    • @SuperRobertoClemente
      @SuperRobertoClemente 2 года назад +1

      Kobe was super interested in basketball analysis-- he thought there was a lot more that TV could be pointing out in the game. But if you've ever seen his "Details" shorts for ESPN, I don't think he figured out how to translate his excitement about breaking down tape into something entertaining. He was a purist about it.

    • @MegaHariboboy
      @MegaHariboboy 2 года назад

      @@SuperRobertoClemente I genuinely would not be surprised if Kobe was on the spectrum. Not in a negative way at all, but all of the stories of him playing, to his work ethic, to his mentality, was borderline isolationist and pretty toxic to other people. A lot of the time it just seemed that he could not understand why other people were not as good as he is - and that may have influenced his decision into not being on TNT.

    • @apradia
      @apradia 2 года назад +1

      @@MegaHariboboy wow, you really got me. Guess this would be the first time in human history that either party didn’t one hundred percent honor everything that was in the contract. & instead of using litigation, they used discretion. • @MegaHariboboy
      @MegaHariboboy 2 года назад +1

      @@apradia You alright mate? I'm not sure if you understand how contracts work - I'm guessing yours at the dollar store is the only one you've experienced - but contracts are signed for a reason. You don't sign a contract, unless you agree to doing everything in the contract. If you refuse to do things in the contract, you are breaking the terms of your contract, and therefore liable to either termination, or a lawsuit. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.

    It’s sad when Charles leaves NBA on TNT, he made a lot of people laugh and entertained and the ratings will drop as no one could replace him. But as selfish as I want him to stay on tv forever, I understand that he has his own life and he gotta do whatever he wants. He needs to live his life how he want and no one should tell him otherwise.People are sometimes too busy making a living that they forget to live their lives, and he’s right, he’s closer to death than living.

    Wow he's been a commentator longer than his NBA career... Didn't realize that. Hope he stays longer but can't blame him if he retires.

    Charles works once or twice a week in 21 years for the duration of the regular season, 2-3x a week during the playoffs and gets paid millions and he still is thinking of retiring because he wants to have more time for himself and his family. If you currently have a job, you should be jealous.

      Yeah, but he got the job after putting so much work in during his childhood, having the talent to get to the NBA and becoming one of the top players in the league. You can't compare the average person working a 9-5 or or minimum wage to someone who dedicated their whole to get specifically good at one thing while becoming one of elite players in history. Plus there aren't many people with the personality of Chuck.
