This is actually a really great social experiment about how people take shit way too seriously and put on this macho front in every situation.
i think its more a reflection of social norms and mores. Similar to how in some areas wearing red or blue. The concept is symbolic interactionism which leads to gatekeeping or cultural dissonance. As funny as it is to watch it also has a pretty clear reality. It's not just a group of people taking things too seriously. It's that for most of the internet this doesn't violate a social norm so we find it funny, but for this subculture it does.

I was a convenience store cashier in a suburban location for 10 years. I dealt with men like this on a regular basis. It was like walking on eggshells. I would end a transaction with “have a nice day “ and these guys were taking it the wrong way.
