- According to a recent report by Royal Bank, more than 40 per cent of farmers will likely retire in the next 10 years, with fewer and fewer people wanting to enter the industry. As Sohrab Sandhu reports, it's an issue the industry is preparing for now.

The housing (land) crisis is an omnicrisis
Do you know that you don't actually need to own a farmland to be able to earn money from Agricultural Investment. Have you heard of Argo investment company, you can invest into their own farmland and they do all the dirty work and you earn profit from that.
@@eire.ann. yeah no you dont
@@eire.ann. keep living in fairy tale land, no where in BC are you making a profit from farm land leasing or buying at current rates. 10 acres in fraser valley is like 3 m lololol
@@penstateftw422 i didn't say i bought the land i also invest into the land but the land is own by the company
Indian farmers in India.... Was more important. Surrey BC taught me this.
Indo Canadian farmers support their white farmer brothers as well in Canada. Farmer is farmer.
When investment corporations, international corporations, and developers drive land costs too high to get any farmers into the business, don't expect to eat without low nutritional, high cost foods over processed.
Either protect farmland or go hungry. Cargill, JBS, and others have huge corporate farms, and lease them to people who must buy the supplies from these corporations, sell to them too.
"Sixteen Tons" and what do you get? In debt.
The ALR has become an obscenity with 6 bedroom homes on land meant for growing food, instead kms of weeds for crops.
Drive down King George to White Rock. Millionaires and weeds, the new ALR exemption.
Actual born and raised Canadian here. I have been trying to become a farmer for 3 years, however I live in B.C where land is the most unaffordable it can possibly be. How am I supposed to market garden fresh food when land is half a million an acre?

Regenerative Farming works for many crops. If need be 5 acres at at time
Regenerative agriculture, agro-forestry, diversified crops all done without chemical inputs. Yep, higher yields, higher nutrients, lower cost.
@@ninemoonplanet Kinda expensive up front
@@ninemoonplanet you graduated agricultural school? Because your math doesn’t make any sense. Globalists believe in overpopulation and have already shut down human reproduction in the developed world. Add starvation to that and we will go from 8000 million to 500 million people, like they planned. Farms throughout the western world are being shut down. We will have an epic famine soon
There were lots of students who were working in farms when they couldn't get temporary workers and the crops were brought in so it's a ploy to get slave labor in my opinion
Hope young people looking for job take interest in food and agriculture
After Trudeau’s fertilizer restrictions Canada will be in the same situation as Sri Lanka is right now. Farmers can’t make a profit so they stopped planting. Now they must import food at triple the cost. Exactly what will happen here.
Umm y’all forgot the prices here for land and other expenses this is hard work with little to no return for sure do better Canadian government

It's the property sellers who determine the prices of their land, so if money is more valuable to property sellers than to try to continue to produce food then I think people who rely on buying their food are going to starve.
30,000 immigrants might be broke, or have little money, so setting up farms, or taking over farms might not be possible. 30,000 immigrants might experience the same problems as the current farmers, and the current farmers are not trying to solve their problems, and according to the video it includes drought, and flooding.
Hi good jobs I like its From Africa ilands of Mauritius ❤👍👍👍👌😊
Gov't sponsored news outfit. Better listen and believe

Immigration is used for provide low wage workers for farms. Little India now
Someone has to do the work
It’s low bc the farmers are not getting paid properly either. Packers are keeping the money
@@hardeepdhillon2791if they pay higher wage to workers do you think your food will be cheaper? lol
@@cia9419 you are very brilliant. Why didn’t I think of that. 🤔. I am in this industry. Why are food prices so high at the grocery store while the farmers are struggling? Hmmm one has to think who is making the money? Hmm could it be the grocery stores and packing facilities? Also looks like food along with everything went up.
@@hardeepdhillon2791it is pointless to explain to you. You won’t be able to understand basic logic 😂
And yet we have millions on welfare! Lets put them to work - no work, no welfare!

Then you ship our meat south to usa, then buy it back at higher prices. Instead.of.selling meat south, then also butchering up north. Folks are buying over ahipped, over priced food. While each truck pays a border toll going both ways in illegal border crossing blockages, stagnating folks are n to poverty. On both sides of every border.
Very shallow analysis
