Just found your channel, and happy I did. I used to work at a fishing and hunting lodge called Deerhorn Lodge on Attitti Lake just down from Belcher (its since burned down). I got to fish a lot of the lakes in that area Belcher, Attitti, Mukomun, Waskwei, Wild etc. Watching this brought me back to some great memories
Oh wow! That must of been amazing gig! Thanks for sharing! I was searching for information on the area and came across someone's (I think the owners) blog of about the lodge. It had a video of the lodge burning up at night. Crazy stuff. they never wanted to rebuild? I was going to go back in there this spring to do a fishing video but I'm not sure how much netting goes on back there. I know I found nets in Belcher and Nemei Lakes (didn't show it in the video) and just assumed they would net Attitti. Do you think its still worth going in there? I was going to take a week to paddle up the Nemei River to Nemei Lake, then go into MacArthur over to Belcher, down to Attitti, and head back to my starting point though Kakinagimak Lake. I was thinking of doing another video of all the small lakes just East of where Dearhorn used to be. Anyways, happy I could take you down memory lane. Its an amazing area I always love to paddle through. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@puddlejumper-sk yeah I think the video you saw was probably from one of the staff. They were thinking of rebuilding, but I don't think they ever got around to it. The owner also owns Kississing Lake Lodge and one or two other lodges (or at least did). In Attitti I don't think there was ever much netting going on. On Mukumon there was a little bit of netting...some big fish in that lake. Attitti was good for pike and lake trout, really big walleye too, but they were hard to find. There is a small lake just off of what we call Little Belcher, it's like literally a stones throw of a portage the lake is not named, but it kind of has a W shape...it has really big walleye in it. Gailbraith lake also has really good pike and walleye. If you get into Ewen lake that has a lot of walleye, like 100 fish days kind of thing, but they were all relatively small...eater size. Waskwei is a fun lake and the owners of Deerhorn/Kississing still run an outpost cabin on there. Wild Lake is just off of Waskwei and if you ever get into there it has good walleye fishing, but great pike fishing...there are monsters in there ,caught a 45" in there the last time I was there which was about 11 years ago or so. There's a bunch of other lakes we had boats on that we fished, but i'd have to look at a map to remember their names...I think we had boats on 10 different lakes or so if I remember correctly. I would love to get back up there some time.
