Incredible production quality once again. The Atari PC had a lot going for it, I had no idea it had its own proprietary chipset! I was also extremely pleased to hear the voice of 2 other illustrious members of the Atari Podcasting and Youtubing who's who with Jeff and Mats. I wonder how it felt being Jack's voice for Mats 😁
Great. Now I need an Atari PC. Thanks fellas. Great video! Loved that bit about the ST: "You are buying the wrong machine"! :D Not sure history agrees...
I've always felt that the Atari PC1 was made more for existing ST owners for the home than to convert corporate PC users because it was designed like the Mega ST. Just like the ST mouse can be used in it, you can also connect an external ST drive to use 3 1/2" DOS formatted disks. Great video, can't wait for the next part.
Outstanding production quality! I also enjoyed the narrators. 😊 I didn't realize how much effort Atari put into the peripherals to make them both PC and Atari compatible.
My dad got me a Commodore digital watch in the late 70's for my birthday. I bought a Mega ST2 and hand soldered 2 more megs of ram on the motherboard for a total of 4 MB and had a Megafile 30 upgraded to a 70 MB HD. The Atari ST was basically a PC only running on the 68000 CPU.
Great video and production quality! I always thought it was sad that Atari didn't make home pc like the ST but with PC compatibility. They should have made a low cost 486 in an ST case for a bargain price that you could play DOOM on, that could have been a real system seller.
Spectacular !! WELL Done !! I have been wishing for such a video for years. Keep it going !!!! There is a Atari PC website with lots of details also, if you do not already know about it. Love all this.!! I have a complete PC1 system, PC unit,PCH204,PCM124,PCM1(mouse),2xPCF551,Atari Gem2& manuals, Atari-MS-Dos& Manual, Upgraded cpu NEC V3, 8087, 640 ram, real time clock.
Very cool. There will be more. Yes, I have used ataripc.net in the making of this video as well. (Links in the description). Great collection you have there...
I hope you don't mind. I have added the link nicely on top of each page ;) I was thinking of recycling some of my old photos, but this one from you site was just too good. I hope I can use the one from the other Atari PCs in the same fashion for the upcoming episodes in the series?
@@AtariLegend Absolutely! The whole purpose of my website was to document and archive these PC's so they are not lost to history. It's a great feeling to know all my efforts in this regard have been worth it and that others can put it to great use.
Good video and I have not seen much about the PC compatibles before, so this was interesting. Have to laugh at the pre-WW2 1933 reference by Jack with his quote, "Today we declare war on the computer industry!". Maybe the follow up to this was going to be "The Amiga must perish!" 😏😁
Thanks so much for these nice comments, it does mean a lot to me. Please keep in mind I am still here every step of the way. I do all the writing and envision it all (even though it would be great to team up with others in this department as well) I just like to work with other Atari community members and have a lot of satisfaction hearing my scripts with other peoples voices. I just love it :-) I did get quite a bit of comments like this, so I may be returning to the screen once in a while. I just like to make more documentary style videos, and create the best possible results for the coders, developers, all the people envolved in the story...
If you're interested, Łódź isn't pronounces "Loads", but rather "Woodge". The Ł character is pronounced like a W in English. Ó is like a double-o like in moose. And finally, dź is like a j sound, like at the start of jam. Thought it may be useful as you're likely to say it a lot in various videos. Am actually watching P1 of this after P2 because I'm clearly a genius 🤣
Thank you for sharing. I am always interested in this stuff. But it is hard to get these things right...so thanks...maybe one day I will do a remake of the video, who knows 😉
@@AtariLegend I have a Polish grandfather and his name has most of these characters in his name, and I just thought he was pronouncing things weird because of his accent until I got older 🤣 I really enjoyed the video. I was still an Atari 8-bit kid during this era. I'd have loved that PC1, even if it was hamstrung without the expansion. Having already seen part 2 I'm actually a little surprised there was no version in the TT case
@@AtariLegend thank you for accepting my feedback in the manner in which it was intended, by the way. I don't like to be _that guy_ with pronunciation, but was hoping to be helpful for the future. I'm new to your channel so wasn't sure if it would be appreciated. Thank you

It’s like watching a professionally produced Hollywood movie. Amazing content :)

Superb watch. So amazing insights to this one. Really enjoyed it. Quality work yet again from the Atari Legend.
Looking forward to part 2.

Awesome video … state of the art … ready to sell it on VRT television… that good quality it has 👍😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Good job ! I wait the next part. 👍Thank. 😊

Nice job. Your attention to key / relevant milestones are great!
Lovely video.
Jack Tramiel, despite being crazy hard in business was a devoted family man, husband and father.
Thanks a lot. Working on part 2 now. Should be ready for Christmas 🎄🎁
Amazing!

Great video! I had no idea you could plug an ST mouse into an Atari PC :) (not that I suspect you would want to! but what a neat idea)
Excellent video. Really interesting and fact packed. Massive ST fan and didn't know the Atari PC existed back in the day.
EXCELLENT !
I miss Maarten's narration and accent... 😢
+1 -- There is nothing wrong with this narrator, but I definitely miss the OG - I love his inflection and passion.
I prefer his narration as well. I feel his passion for the Atari is more evident in his own voice, even if English is not his first language.
These guys did brilliantly!! Brilliantly. But I also agree with you.
