    Long time, no tuts!
    Hope you've been well? This video is a pattern and sewing tutorial for a fishtail/mermaid maxi skirt. Making this project has brought me closer to the formal/occasion wear realm.
    I used a print fabric for this project and the fabric pattern doesn't match along the seam, I didn't care much for this as my focus was to test the sewing patterns. There are tutorials online that address pattern matching on seams for anyone curious😊

      Kim Dave hello Kim. I love yours design, a very beautiful skirt.. so I notice that your fishshape/knee measurent start a little bit below and that would make it a little bit hard to make steps or person wound not move comfortably, what I usually do is I take my total height let say 60inches then minus the length from shoulder to waist lets say its 60 minus 16 so the diff will be 44 then I div 44 by 2 the ans which is 22 I minus 2....that's where my fish shape start.. or that's what I consider as my knee point ...

    I was just about to ask about the pattern not lining up lol. Because it looked like when you cut it out, everything was matching. And I guess with the seam allowance it'll shift a bit but didn't think it would be a lot. Either way this is a beautiful piece, and I would love to make one of my own. I'm actually trying to start a formal-wear line and, with your permission, I would love to attempt the fishtail pattern. However, I may tweak it just a little so it's not a copy, maybe a high-low element with tulle underneath? But thank you for this, it came out amazingly!!

    Hey Kim, I like, but why did the pattern not match up in the back? This is something I have been struggling with in patterns

    • @KimDave
      @KimDave  5 лет назад +2

      I didn't pay attention to the pattern matching because I was testing the sewing patterns. I'm sure there are great tutorials online that will address this. Plus Ankara prints are not symmetrical so cutting two layers doesn't always guarantee the pattern will match along the seams
