I'm a firm believer that there's gotta be some kind of deep-seated corruption in the Ontario construction industry. There's no way delays this bad are just the result of incompetence
@phillydisco I notice every time I pass Eglington and Yonge, the construction workers are barely getting any work done. I only see them chatting and having Tim hortons. This foolishness has been going on for 3 years now.
Well, when you have a former druggie as a Mayor whose brother is now the premier of the province. It doesn't take too long to figure out that corruption is rampant in the building of this line.
People have been laughing at Ottawa's transit issues, but Toronto has now set a new record for incompetence when t comes to managing a project.....unbelievable.....BRAVO METRO LINX FOR PUTTNG TORONTO ON THE MAP FOR THE WRONG REASONS.
This will be great and city changing when its up and running but holy geeze somebody needs to do an audit here to avoid these mistakes for next time and other cities putting in LRT.
I am from Montreal and we've recently inaugurated the REM. This fully automated Light Metro system is an example for using existing infrastructure, rather than building from scratch. This puts our city on the map as a result. Looking at Toronto ... :) it takes more than a decade to get just 20 KM of transit done, whereas, it takes 8 years for 67 KM of Montreal's REM to be constructed.
Lots of issues with the REM . And only a tiny portion to Brossard is operational. They haven't even built the Griffintown station which is on the same like as the Brossard REM. The airport line won't ne ready until 2027-28
@@87lamar87 don't forget that they won't build an extra 700 metres to connect with the Via/Exo station in Dorval. The REM is also steeped with problems.
Doesnt matter when other infrastructure like highways take long and go over budget but no one complains. This will be completed and bring so much increased gdp to the area.
With that much funds, entire GTA should have been completed and connected to Pearson Airport. This project is perfect example of corruption and negligence of the Government. Misusing of public funds and construction mafia at the highest level. This project would have been completed in no time if it was in Dubai or China. I am sorry for the retail businesses around the area that have been affected by this project. Besides, it is going to be chaos for the traffic as well when it will be operational.
I'll believe it when I ride it. Until then, happy 2024, hopefully the year we ride a Dragon. Is it me, or do the crew with the vests remind you of Minions, lol.
You know..China may be undemocratic but they get things done fast. Beginning to think I'd rather trade my 'rights' for speedy work rather than a heck lot of corruption and bureaucracy. If the Chinese state wants to get something done they get it done. And if by some random chance corruption happens, heads go rolling. Now thats the way
This is proof Canada is no longer a first world country. We keep falling behind. Countries like UAE, Singapore, China, Qatar would have made quick work of this. We are more like a second world country now. Who knows maybe soon to be 3rd world

It's quite obvious.
to many pockets to fill, is your answer

My right ear really enjoyed this story

Elevated rail is so much cheaper! And fully automated rail is so much better,.
I’m from Montreal too.. and way to humblebrag. (Work on the humble part maybe?)

PLEASE FIX THE AUDIO IM BEGGIN YOU
They use an old school mono style way of mixing … with sound coming out of one ear/speaker
12 years absolutely insane
in japan this would have been built in a month
Any where in Asia, would have been done long time again. Only in Canada, it takes decades for a few kms of construction. It's a JOKE
@@aaront5834 Very expensive one, too 😂
to much red tape to make $$$$@@aaront5834
@@aaront5834Exactly it's not a city issue it's a Canadian thing.... Canada has always been behind and doesn't ever care as it's taxpayers money

Should be open in January 2099.
In 2099 there going to say.. please be patient were trying our best to get this finished
You are overly optimistic I'm afraid.
Please wait until 2223, The Eglinton Crosstown LRT will be in final stage of completion. Please be paitient.
to many pockets to fill, is your answer
20 years later 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️💯💯💯💯
Why are they talking about Eglinton/Yonge while showing pics of Eglinton West station?
The people behind this project should be held criminally responsible. What an embarrassment and complete waste of tax dollars.
Forward to 2030.." We are at the last stage of completion " In the meantime, China builds a cross country railway in 5 years...

I expect that the line should open in the summer
Hah, Hah!!

Bro they've been saying this for years
Nearly 15 years and 13 billion dollars for one street car extension, and apparently all the money has mysteriously vanished again, Toronto is a joke.
All of Canada is a joke.... regardless of the city or province that's highlighted Canada has stood out as a joke
I am starting to think that they are using the same contractor that built the Montreal Olympic stadium. Corruption at the highest.
How long would this last stage take?
This guy really doesn't sound confident in the date at all. Wow, how people aren't getting fired for so many extensions?
It's Canada they have never gotten things done not sure y ppl are surprised when it's a regular reality
@@msmichelle2196 something being normalized doesn't make it good or acceptable.
Not sure what's more realistic, this LRT line opening or Google's Gemini video
I worked there and we ripped out a bunch of wires to get paid to put them in again so i can afford a home far away . thankyou torornto .
City news your audio is messed up on these videos
